YAY! More pictures! So many pretties, it’s tough not to want to expand my herd! Last year, I bought an extremely small curio cabinet to house some Windstones, and it’s threads like this that make me regret not having a bigger one. Then again, I put a portion of the crew together today for pictures, looked at the $$$ amount of the group, and darn near had heart failure. Maybe the smaller curio WAS a smart move. LOL
Mother of Dragons, that pairing is absolutely perfect! I vote you keep them together. π
Were those the 12 that were going to be on ebay?
I was wondering the same thing. Other possibilities: I think in the past though, babies were held out for one reason or another, then made available later either here or on eBay. (Anyone please correct me on that!) Sometimes, sales dont go through, or people change their minds. Or Melody may have painted a few more. Either way, it’s certainly less of a nuisance in some ways to sell them here; no eBay fees and much less time spent waiting before WS collects their money.
Guess we’ll know for certain when they begin to show up.
Did anyone else manage to get one for anyone who missed them before? I was trying for daftdragoness in the UK but it just showed me out of stock each time I tried. Did anyone else try for her?
They went so fast, I didn’t have the chance to try a catch for a second person. Fingers crossed that someone did!
One just came in and went back out, so they weren’t finished as of a couple of minutes ago!
Edit – and now they are gone.
Thank you guys so much for posting about the handful that showed up–I was able to catch one for scrpbkgrl, who wasn’t online at the time and missed the earlier batch. She’s VERY excited!
Aieeeeeeee! That’s where it got to–your second one, Kaytana, is one of my favorites, and the first one to show up. Congratulations!!!! He looks every bit as awesome as I expected.
Now THAT’S an awesome candy corn collection! Would love to see another pic when the rest arrive. π
I’m waiting on a delivery myself, then I’ll see about getting a couple of pics of the current brood.
*squeeeeeek!!!!*
Or *Squeeeeak!* for the grammarians amongst us. π Either way, PLEASE bring this little one into limited production!
That’s a neat silver leaf, Syn. I can see where he might need just the right lighting to show him off properly though. Some of the paints are just that way, I think–we try so hard to keep our Windstones out of direct light, but that’s really the best way to view some of them.
And I love that winter leaf in the snow pic! π
I suppose it might be interpreted as a metallic orange to some, but putting it next to my copper patinas–nope. It’s definitely copper. And I’m not just saying that as a Mariners fan. LOL
Note that the pic above was not color balanced before posting, and it’s shot under indoor light, so it’s naturally warmer overall. There are some definite orange tones we’ve seen in Windstone’s repertoire, but I can’t count this as one of them. If you look at some of the grab bag poads, especially, you’ll see more true orange shades, and they are a LOT brighter than the Opoponax color scheme. Perhaps a dragon with orange may be a possibility at some point.
While they’re similar, I really think there’s more than enough difference here to justify a Opoponax color variant. Quick cell phone pic side by side:
About the only thing I’d change to differentiate them further might be to use a metallic black on the new one. Still, I think as is, the coppery color alone sets him apart from the black gold. Love them both, especially together! (And I’m the kind of collector who typically buys everything different)
Let’s see–this time last year, think I was at 4 total. Maybe.
Today:
3 curlies…#4 arrives tomorrow, + one I’ve babysat for a time will go home next week

And, of course, 1 Copper Patina Lap dragon to boss all the others around!I don’t want to know how many PYOs are around right now in various stages of completion. I’ve lost count. I need to get them painted and out of here, there’s no room to display them!
No, no, Windstones aren’t addictive. Really. I swear (that I can’t say this with a straight face.) π
How perfect is that?! Doppler reminds me of some of your fabulous PYO keepers too! It’s good to see you back. π
*sneaks into Hannah’s house & poad-naps them all…* π
February 22, 2013 at 1:20 am in reply to: What a Great Forum! So Happy to Have Found You All! #893667Don’t worry, posting pics of your pretties is welcome! There’s a whole thread with instructions on how to link them so they’ll show as images here. I believe it’s in the General Windstone section, stickied to the top.
And yes, welcome to our dysfunctional enabling society. We are very good at what we do, and your wallet will not thank us. π Like you, I remember and have owned a few early pieces. Stumbled across this place last January and oh dear…my two Siamese flap cats now have to share space with far more Windstones than we ever planned on!
Now…falcons and hawks? I want to hear about this. π
And have you looked at the wonderful griffins Melody’s produced in the last year? There have been some stunning paint schemes recently based on different birds.
