So DragonCat, you can’t get the necklace because your mom is maybe more superstitious than yourself — she should be thankful you aren’t a vampire or devil-worshiper (I hope!!) LOL I’ll assume you can wear a cross or a fish emblem, but not a pentacle or peace sign.
Have you ever used a pendulum? Those are such fun, and often accurate (50/50 chance eh, haha).
Beliefs can be so powerful, to the point of starting wars, whether over religion or simple every day habits, that they cannot be ignored. Psychics and Witches have been crucified for believing in things not seen and unknown while religious cults follow blindly in things not seen and unknown. They all have the belief in a greater power than themselves. Seems everyone is really seeking the same thing.
No, (maybe…) Just kidding. 😆 but I had the nickname “vampire” because i’m fair-skinned, iron deficient (somewhat anemic), and I hate facing the sun when I’m talking to someone outside because I’m also blonde, so all I can see is tiny rainbows and gold and not the person I’m talking to. Plus, I think they just made fun of me because I hate “Twilight” and the vamp craze. :puke:
Always wanted to try a pendulum. 😀
And I like to think that people need to believe something (Even if i’m not one of them), they keep people from going crazy or truly bad because they believe in punishment for wrongdoing. I understand and appreciate everyone else’s beliefs, but I personally won’t follow.
I just got one of my favorite catalogs and I saw an awesome looking (and cheaper) pendant that I LOVED, so I had asked my mom to order it for me (she’s the only one with a credit card ) but when she actually saw it, she basically said,”THERE IS NO WAY I’M LETTING THAT IN MY HOUSE”. Even if I pay for it and even if I’m sure it doesn’t have the same power or effect, she won’t budge. The necklace in question:
http://www.victoriantradingco.com/store/catalogimages/1a/i17342.htmlDoes anyone here believe in superstitions or the supernatural? I believe in ghosts, guardians (angels or implied ones to help keep us on the-straight-and-narrow), chinese horoscope philosophy (fits me to a T!), old-school-bewitched-antique-style Ouija Boards (not the board game) and curse, luck, or voodoo magic (to a certain point). I also love black cats, and the number 13.

EEDIT: I didn’t get it. Really wanted to, but the opinions here made me think otherwise. 🙂 And the comments here and everyone’s ideas are put in a good light and everyone is so “you can believe whatever” in attitude, I really appreciate it. 😀 Although now I notice that I unintentionally cause debate sometimes… 😳
I agree that this is another good opinion topic. It’s great to see understanding and varied opinions.
LOL on my mom being here, she thinks windstones are pretty but she’s not one of our addicts. 😈
And the Salem witch trials thing is REALLY COOL twindragonsmum!! It’s another one of my favorite history topics.Plus, I belive they might have some power. Maybe not, as I said above, in a necklace or one you can buy at ‘Toys R Us’, but like the real-deal, antique, done-by-candlelight version. Like the one on “Paranormal Activity”, although that one looked satanic… 0_0 and the movie scared me to the point I was waking up at 3:30 for no reason and jumping at the sound of my neighbors’ electric garage door as the sound of “the demon”.
Hope it isn’t anything too serious… 🙁
Warm wishes! & some very good luck! 😀 (omg… Melody in CA??!)Wow… do us a favor and take a load off will you? Glad everything came out ok. 🙂
😮 😮 😮 😮 😮 😮 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Almost 60???!!! *RUNS to look for stuff* If you can’t tell… OMG!!!! LION KING???!!! *fangirl scream*… I think The Lion King is a good little movie. 😆
*Draws in huge breath*
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPYY BIRTHDAY!
Hope you party hearty!! 😀Jennifer wrote:Is it less special to you, if say… there are a bunch of other pieces out there with close coloration to yours? How much does the monetary value and investment matter to you– do you get dismayed when the resale value goes down or even plummets if similar pieces are made (black gold Old Warriors come to mind)?
I never have money so the second question doesn’t really apply (I got the ones I have now from yard sales and swap meets anyway.) but no, I don’t think my peacock dragons (even if a little dinged) are any less special than if someone else has something similar to mine. Not to mention that aren’t ALL windstones special anyway? I HIGHLY doubt that another peacock dragon has any less ‘midnight blue’ coloring than the ones I have (they’re all pretty dark) or if someone else’s sculpt is completely identical. It’s all different because of the variety of painters and whether the airbrush wants to be nice today. So there isn’t any contest.
I’m sorry to spark this much debate…. 😳
Beautiful job on the Uni. The “magic” paint truly makes it all the more magical. 🙂
Thank you everyone for all the well-wishes and concern. It’s nice to see comments like these after a stressful and scary situation like the one I just had.
It’s also cool to see the responses for the “packing” question. Family, fur & scale babies, and computer equipment top the list so far.
LOL at twindragonsmum’s “put boyohs to work”. XD
I would like to hear the piggybank story someday Eleu. 😉
Thank you for the picture comment Poems. 🙂 It’s kind of awesome to see beauty in something as foreboding smoke. In fact, here’s one of my favorite pictures, “Dragonsmoke”.Ohhhh…. why does she do this to ME?? When I was trying SO HARD to save money she comes up with SIGNED COPIES??!!! WHY??!! 🙄
Better now. 😀 I LOVE her work and have had the first book for so long, it’s even become my go-to drawing pad/art folder. *sighs* I might just have to break down and buy it… 😈

LOL XD I had the same vision!
@ Kujacker: I would… *runs to change into old clothes and to grab a bucket* 😀
@ Jennifer: It’s understandable. Us addicts know you guys pride on quality. But it’s US!! 😉
@ Purpleturtle: Me too… 😳
Ohhh… I get it now. Thank you Melody. 😀 Actually, I wouldn’t mind trying to get a bag/box on ebay and i’m pretty sure those “too pretty to destroy, not amazing to sell” are not as bad as you think. Maybe a ‘tye dye’ piece or slight damage would be given a good home. Now to wait for the next raffle!!!
Subject line from Linkin Park’s “New Divide”
So… scary events. Last thursday, I was playing cards with some of my family and I just so happened to notice a slight smell of something burning. Like campfire burning… But no one said they could smell anything, so I kind of brushed it off as nothing and then about a half hour later, the normally clear blue sky turned dark. Then came a team of fire trucks, followed by a ton of cop cars. Well apparently an accidental, small flame turned into a brushfire that practically burned the whole ranch valley a few miles away and then decided to come up the mountains near my house. It was so close, you could see the flames jumping on top of the hills from my backyard, and my grandma’s balcony next door. Scary, no? It was about the time they evacuated the housing tract across the street that we decided to pack EVERYTHING and make sure it wasn’t too far away by watching where it was on the hills. Yes, the ashes really did fall like a light snow and its STILL on the floor near our windows and doors. Every news station was here, the Red Cross set up camp, the police and fire & rescue set up satellites and camps (their main communication tower was burned down) across from our backyard at the city park, and to top it off, anything and everything smells like smoke and the air quality sucked for 3 days.
Right now it’s better. The air is clear, evacuations have been called off, and you can still hear a truck or copter every so often to beat back another start-up, but we’re good fortunately. Except for all the ashes. And sore throats. And the fact we have to UNPACK everything. But it’s all good.It also leads me to ask this question: “If your house was about to be engulfed in flames, what would you pack first, and what would you pack if you had extra space and time?” Our packing had my four windstones (of course), photo albums, pictures, anything with the word “collectible”, my yearbook and grad tassel and my three hardcover “Inheiritance” books.

LOL!!! XD My sides hurt now. SO CUTE!!!! I know that’s happened to me a ton of times too. Thanks, cause it really made my day. 😀
Hey Melody, here’s something I kinda always wanted to know: Where do your not-so-perfect sculpts & general mess-ups go? I know some things like the limited production brown & gold dragon bookends and Flatpaws make it either into the shop, on Ebay or raffle but do the rest just get put somewhere? Or can you reuse the materials? Just wondering… 😳
