Well I am still having a lot of upset and paint. I’ve had a few days where I didn’t have any pain or nausia and it really let me see how cronnic the acute pain is. And it is heavy enough that I have to sit down after doing about an hour or two of light house cleaning.
While I’ve not had any attacks as severe as the collapsing incident(thankfully), I’ve still been getting moments of pain that is intense enough I have to lay down immediately and start worrying. Like last night my sister was making some amazing cream of mushroom soup and I was helping her for a little bit, but while stirring the soup my discomfort shot into intense pain and nausia. I was going to try staying standing to see if it would lead into a full blown attack…but it got bad enough that I just did not want it to get worse and it was about a half hour laying down before it subsided.

So I don’t think the meds are working really..And now my guts are upset all the time pretty much since the collapsing incident. I’ve dot an appointment with a gastroenterologist for this tuesday.

Saw the specialist today, and I was very impressed. He listened, took his time, asked a lot of questions, and was very concerned. When I told him the severity of pain that happens with these attacks, he was shocked. It gave me the strong impression that this is NOT something normal…He was also really surprised that the ER did not do a ct scan when I went in…which honestly, it is a bad er. The nurses and some of the staff are really great there, and really nice….but they kinda just rule out what they think might be it and then send you home even if you still have symptoms. It was the closest hospital so there was not a lot of choice with that.

The first thing he wants to check is my pancreas function. So tomorow I have a CTscan with contrast. The pancreas is exactly where I have been having pain, so I hope something turns up.

I had a few days last week where I had no nausia and no pain for a few hours…..and it was amazing. But it was also a shock to realize just how much I have been living with pain and how it has been affecting me.

I’ve been carrying my poad around the house. He accompanies me to what ever room I am going to be in :3. Thank you mystery poad person!

Glad to hear you found a good specialist, and I sure hope that pancreas scan helps him nail it down for you.

My mom had a pancreas problem – she found grain alcohol helped with the stomach pain. Boy did we have fun with that!

I honestly don’t remember what the treatment was; all I can say is that she’s fine now. so hopefully, this is it and you can treat it!

Yay, sounds like you’re heading in the right direction for a diagnosis, I sure hope this doc figures it out. Any progress is better than none though, & I am glad to hear the diagnostic equipment is finally being put to use. Good luck!

Ok, so the scan showed nothing. Everything there is healthy and working normaly…as far as they said.

So I was put on a new medication. A muscle relaxant Donnatal. It really had no immediate affect. Like I expected a side affect like woozyness, but nothing. I was feeling ok the first two days, but after that I was having the chronic upper abdominal pain. He was thinking it could be the stomach and stomach muscles spasming, not working right. This stuff is stronger, I gues, then the last stuff I tried.

It is supposed to be take it when you need it prescription, and I can take up to 3 a day. But it was not working. So today I went with my sister to check out a possible job opportunity, an amazing….job opportunity…
My sister is excited, and I wanted to see if it was something I could do to. The owner was super professional and nice, and it seemed we all really hit it off. He needs people with artistic inclination because it will involve quilting. I had been feeling a little under..but physically pretty fine this morning.. But about an hour into talking to him(standing the whole time) I started feeling uncomfy, and then the pain hit. I had to sit down because it was getting bad. It was enough to worry me that I might be in some real trouble if it got worse. I did not tell my sister or the owner though, other then I needed to sit down because I was having some pain. I maintained composer, and finished our conversation. After sitting for about half an hour, I was recovered enough to make it to the car, and make it home.

I took the medicine as soon as I got home….but I did not notice a relief from the pain that was left over. After a few more hours, it seemed to go away for a while..but I am starting not to feel too good again, even though I am sitting down. I’ll be calling the doctor tomorow/.

Well, yesterday I was not the happiest person.

After the last episodes I posted about, I saw the Gastroentrologist again. Since the Muscle relaxant medication did not work(or what ever it was), he had no idea what else it could be. So he brought up stress and anxiety and offered for me to try Ativan just to rule it out. I was comfortable with how much he not only knew about the affects of stress, but also how much he knew about the medication. So I decided to Try it.

It’s true I deal with a lot of stress, I’ve got ptsd and I am not all that good in social situations, so my stress levels are pretty high, a lot. But I have managed with this for well over 20 years. But I saw no harm in trying it out and seeing if it has a possitive affect, if not on the reoccurring pain, then maybe on the cronnic stress at least.

The medicine had no affect what so ever on the pain. It did loosen my back muscles, which was nice, and I did fell less tense. But for the issue that is more important, it had no affect. So I called, and told him, and he refered me to an Endocrineologist.( we had discussed this when I had seen him if the Ativan did not work) Since it was the hollidays, the soonest app I could get was for yesterday.

So yesterday I see the Endocrine Doctor. He listened, and was very nice……………………….but had no idea why I got sent to him. As far as he was concerned, nothing in my symptoms indicated that it was from hormones. Greeeaaat. So he was going to call the Gastroentrologist and find out if he had had an idea of something to test for, in the mean time he sent me to the labs for some basic blood work to check my levels any way.

He also brought up stress again. I told him the other medication I took before that did nothing, he suggested trying another one that works differently and that also has an affect on IBS(I haven’t been tested for that yet..). So why not. I might as well try another. So now I am on Amitriptyline.

This stuff has a real kick to it. I passed out yesterday for a few hours from the first dose. He wants to see me in two weeks.

I’m not sure what to do inbetween that time. I have 23 days of insurence left…and my next doc app is the 16th.

I’m sorry to hear you are still having issues. ๐Ÿ™

I used to be on double the normal adult dosage of Amitriptyline for many years for severe migraines that put me out of commission back in grade school. The Neurologist couldn’t figure out what caused the issue, so put me on that and it worked. Well, it worked for a few years until it started to stop. While some of it was stress (I was a little stress ball about grades growing up – super driven A personality… I’ve chilled quite a bit since!). Ended up most of my issue was actually diet (food allergies). That stuff really had me sleeping so I’d wake up on a dime at the same time every morning like clockwork though! It’s effectiveness is lowered by Vitamin C, just an FYI (my doctor didn’t realize that).

Have you gone to see someone in the area of homeopathy or acupuncture? It’s worth trying at least (I know acupuncture isn’t too expensive, though whether it is covered by insurance you’d have to check). Definitely someone who is certified though. A doctor local to me who deals with homeopathy and traditional medicine diagnosed my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (I also had a few other things going on, like Mono), after almost a year of being sick, numerous doctors, and lots of bloodwork. (Wearing turtlenecks and 2 sweatshirts outside in 90+ Fahrenheit weather in the sun and still feeling cold is NOT normal). It’s worth suggesting at least. I have several friends who have had various issues who now go to doctors who also incorporate homeopathy or eastern medicine with very good results.

They haven’t checked you for IBS? I would think that would be something to easily check and at least eliminate before going off on different test. If nothing else, just to eliminate it as a possibility.

Does it still occur if you were to say, visit family/friends out of the area? It might indicate something in the environment. Stranger things have happened. Just rattling ideas off my head. I hope they are able to find something soon! ๐Ÿ™

Koshi, I wish you luck and hope your well soon. It sounds terrible what you’ve been going through. Stress definately can wreck havok on your body and mind. Have any of the doctors mentioned Fibromyalgia? It might be something you can mention and they could test you for. Here’s a link. In any case I hope you find an answer to it all and a fix. Keeping you in my thoughts.
