From Swandog on LJ windstone commuity (friends locked entry)
This girl made a gum-paste mold of the “secret keeper” Windstone dragon and is selling prints of the photo she took of it, and no credit was given to Windstone in the image desc: http://raynich2.deviantart.com/art/Pastillage-Myth-146559063 :/
Wish I could have seen that picture. I’m curious how he – that “artist” is a guy, from the looks of his DA profile – presented the mold. He couldn’t have gotten it off a real SK.
He basically reposted Melody’s picture from Elfwood…. same sculpting base and everything…. claiming it was his own. It wasn’t the only piece in the gallery like that, and not all of them have been removed, but that one was.
Windstone collector in remission. 😉
January 4, 2010 at 7:07 am #708739Ah, I see.
January 7, 2010 at 2:20 pm #708740Sent this to John already. I figured you lot might be interested in seeing this. I didn’t even realize it was one of Melody’s pieces until I did a search and the print of hers came up. (I’m such a Windstone novice with some things.) I noticed it a few weeks ago while looking for unicorn-y things for my sister. I guess you never know. The only down side is that it is used or vintage and the original artist is unknown.

I’m not seeing where that is an infringement.

Actually, it reminds me more of the hand held dragon sconces, but only barely.January 19, 2010 at 1:19 am #708746Yeah, I’m pretty sure that one is not a problem.

January 24, 2010 at 3:52 am #708748I would say that it definatly is, the scale placement alone is a rip off, is like the took a mould of the male and resculpted the wings, head and tail/leg and decided thats enough to say its not a copy.
January 24, 2010 at 4:07 pm #708749I agree with Ruffian. Good catch! 🙂
January 24, 2010 at 6:11 pm #708750I can’t believe I forgot to post this – stupid chemo brain 🙄 . Went to Dedham in November and they had a male and a female dragon to paint. Definitely molds from Melody’s work. http://www.plasterfuntime.com/gallery/
