I don’t use an airbrush either. I mixed the pigments in with gel gloss medium and add diluent, and water to get the consistency that I prefer. (I like the feel of lumiere paint by liquitex/Jaquard, and it comes out pretty much the same).

They all work very well. You can choose how fluid you make them and the extended drying time helps with blending colors.
