I guess that poor wall has had every color in the rainbow at some point!!! 😯
July 19, 2008 at 10:05 pm #655096Well, I’ve had it with stripping the walls. The paint stripper made me feel really ill today, and I just don’t want to do it anymore. The hubby’s going to finish up the spots we’ve started, and then we will just sand and paint. To heck with it! 👿
July 19, 2008 at 10:21 pm #655097That sounds like the thing to do. Who would’ve guessed stripping the wall would be so difficult. 😯

If there’s that many layers, it’s h*ll to strip it. 🙄 I’m glad I didn’t have to in the month I was a painter.
July 21, 2008 at 3:16 pm #655099So, we’ve gotten sick of stripping (officially) and have decided to start painting. Today we are going to pick up the paint for the ceiling, and maybe paint it. It depends on how much time it takes to clean the room up so it’s ready to paint. Stripping paint made a mess in there, so we’ve got a big mess.
I have more pics of the stripped wainscotting. I’ll post them later. I think the camera got left in the mess in the room.
July 22, 2008 at 2:34 am #655100OK. Here’s the pics of the wainscotting as scraped as it’s going to be. I swear this is not mold on it, just different colors of the layers of the paint that we left on it.
Here’s hubby posing for the photo. We were actually done scraping and sanding at this point.
July 22, 2008 at 11:42 pm #655101Ceiling is painted. Yay! When we get the medallion up, I’ll take pics.
July 24, 2008 at 2:24 am #655102We picked up the paint for the walls and wainscotting today, but then I fell asleep on the couch, so it didn’t get painted. Ooops! 😳
I’m still trying to figure out what to do with the filter on my beta’s tank (remove or let run, or just leave it off and in the tank), so I’ve been distracted and worried about that too.
I think we’ll work on it tomorrow. We can’t put the medallion up yet because we have to refigure the area where the wiring comes out. Yuck. I’ll try to put up a picture of the room with paint soon.
July 24, 2008 at 4:20 am #655103July 24, 2008 at 3:30 pm #655104Let’s see… we have to refigure the lighting area so we can put up the medallion and the new light fixture. Then, do that.
Paint the walls, paint the wainscotting, trim, and crown molding. We have to get some 1/4 round floor molding and paint that. Make the column and fake fireplace, paint them. Varnish the floor. Paint the large cabinet and reassemble it (shelves and doors). Hang pictures. Fill the cabinet.
Then, I think we are done.
Then we get to clean the garage yet this year, I hope.
I have to write a class schedule and lesson plans for school soon too. Classes start 8/25 this year. 😯

Oh boy! How long have you been teaching again? With it so late in July, I hope it doesn’t take too long. I guess it also depends on how many lesson plans you already have created. Are you a procrastinator like me? When I start teaching, I pray that I will learn not to procrastinate! I haven’t learned it yet! 😯
July 24, 2008 at 5:05 pm #655106I’ve been teaching since fall of 2006. I decided on a new book this semester, so I’m going to have to make up a few new lesson plans, but not all of them, thank goodness.
July 24, 2008 at 7:43 pm #655107It made me tired just reading about all of that work, Em! 😆
July 24, 2008 at 10:50 pm #655108Well, I’m really stumped now. I don’t know how much of this is going to get done this summer now. We’ve painted the walls today, and while we were painting, I got a temp job. It starts Monday, and goes through August, or until I finish the project, whichever comes first. I have the time off for GenCon (it actually coincides with the week the business will be closed for something). The hubby may have to finish the painting (woodwork) and the light fixture stuff on his own. Unless we can get some of it done tomorrow and this weekend.
I still have to do the class schedule and the lesson plans of course. And I have to write a paper for a November conference (about 10-15 pages), on Gulliver’s Travels (which I’ve read already (thank goodness!)).
The garage will have to be up to hubby. Argh! We’ll see.
