OK. Here are my updated pics and news. I found this old thread buried, so I decided to just continue with it, so new people (if they’re interested) can see the progress.

These are pictures of the walls after the old bad plaster is scraped and cleaned out.

A pic of the holes filled with plaster.

        The stain on the ceiling.

We decided to do the Venetian plastering on the ceiling too. It would cover the unevenness of the stain, as well as the discoloration. So this is hubby, starting the plastering on the ceiling.

The finished ceiling (plaster, anyway, still need to paint). This is where the stain was.

        Another pic of the ceiling.

This is me, plastering the walls. I look like a little kid in this pic (I swear, I’m really 43!). 😆

        And the finished (plaster) walls.

I was thinking the same thing I would like to get rid of my popcorn ceilings but have no idea where to start I’ll bet your an expert on that subject. Also FL is a great place to come to you would enjoy it.

I hate that popcorn ceiling too, but I’m not allowed to scrape it off. I think the landlord would complain. Though it looks like the sort of tried in the bedroom, theres some… snakes I guess, of scraped popcorn ceiling where it’s smooth. I’m guessing the repair men went screw this, I don’t want to scrape the entire apartment! And then painted over it. It looks really funny.

Popcorn isn’t hard to get off… Insect sprayer full of water and a 8-inch taping knife… Messy as all get out, but it works! Popcorn is NASTY stuff…

                    Looks great Em!

Or Georgia? 😆 Actually we plan on redoing our (popcorn) ceilings as well. 😀 Thought about painting them ( color not white) but I hate the thought of the occasional piece falling off and leaving a white spot.

                        Thanks for the compliments, everyone.

Sorry… can’t go anywhere to help you with yours. I can give you pointers if you want to try it yourself though. I’m not sure how to get rid of popcorn ceilings. My mom’s house has them too. Very early 70’s.

Ski – that’s because it’s reflecting the ugly pink wainscotting that we have to scrape and repaint yet. Also the ceiling and walls are unpainted at the moment. It’s still just Venetian plaster over the previous pink paint. Believe me… that room will no longer be pink when we are done.

                        😀

OK. Next update. We’ve started scraping the yucky pink paint off the wainscotting. Argh! This will take forever with the stuff we have. The hubby is going to pick up some new stuff today and see if it works better.

And I think we’ve finally got our exact colors picked out. Whew!
