I know. I guess I was feeling squemish about this one anyway – the people didn’t seem to care that I could even function in the lab – just that I had a good personality fit.
That strikes me as being off. Yeah both are important, but not caring about my lab skills at all? That’s just strange. :nea:
December 8, 2009 at 10:13 pm #787050Bummer hun. Well that just means something better is on the way.

That’s weird. Not to be callous or anything, but maybe you’ll be glad you didn’t get that job, if it wouldn’t let you properly unfold your skills and talents.
December 10, 2009 at 2:16 pm #787052I have to agree with GB. You should always listen to your sixth sense….though it’s hard when you really need a paycheck. *sigh*
December 10, 2009 at 11:59 pm #787053Yeah. I was thinking if they hired me, I’d work for them for a couple of years, then look for a new – and better – job. I’d be getting paychecks in the meantime, however.
Well now I can look for that better job now I suppose. I wish I had some more savings, and am considering selling a few of my pieces, but many of them were gifts, so I don’t know if I can!
December 11, 2009 at 1:52 pm #787054🙁 I hope you don’t have to sell any of your pieces, but you have to do what you have to do. I’ll think lots of good thoughts for you!
December 11, 2009 at 4:45 pm #787055What a bummer! 🙁 Yes, you could have been getting paychecks but you’d be very, very unhappy. It’s always been clear to me that when a door closes a window is open somewhere. Hope you find it! Dwindling funds is no fun!!! I hope you don’t have to sell your pretties–always hate it when people HAVE to sell their pretties–but then, you gotta eat! The best to you in finding that good job–and may it be soon! 🙂
December 11, 2009 at 8:30 pm #787056Thanks! There’s very little in my field around here though right now… most of it’s in Ontario, and that’s not paying enough for me to want to move… $12/hr? That’s an insult!!! A kid in highschool could make more then that here.
Oh well, there’s a placement agency that specializes in placing new graduates so I think I’m gonna try for that. But I gotta wait until the 21st (the day I finish) to apply, or they’ll reject my application (weird huh? They should have a “finish date” on there, so that people can apply in the couple of weeks before they finish).
It’s biochemistry, but if I get into something regarding biofuels, I’d be a happy camper! That stuff is so interesting to me! And it doesn’t necessarily involve corn – it can use stuff like your old cooking grease that most fast food chains just toss.
December 11, 2009 at 9:18 pm #787057Try some of the pharma companies. I think most are in Ontario and Québec. You might find the salary worth the move…
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

You don’t happen to know who any of them are, do you? I only know of Dow out there… I think there’s a Dow plant in Sarnia, right?

Try this link:
http://www.canadapharma.org/Pharm_comm/Members/index_e.htmlIt’ll give you the names of the head offices here in Canada. From there, you can find if they have anything for you, as well as a link to their research centers on their website – if the research and head office are separate. That’s the case for the company I worked for.

ZOMG Thanks! I can’t access the only database I had online (they booted me out of the NAIT system a wee bit early) so I’ve been forced to apply for jobs on Monster and Workopolis because… well… I just don’t have a list of companies out there. :shrug:EDIT: A friend just forwarded me the list that was on the NAIT website so I now have 15 pages of places to apply to now – each page has 12-15 places that are known to hire chemtechs on there as well! I need a happy dance emoticon!
December 14, 2009 at 6:37 am #787062That’s great, Dragon87! Hope you find a good job this way, soon.

I had a friend with a bio-diesel VW once, he went around and collected the used oil from places and dumped them into a tank in his trunk… his car always smelt like french fries… ummm burning french fries, LMAO.
