The other day I was sitting in my office at the university, and two reps from Pearson Longman came in to chat and see what sort of textbooks I was needing. I mentioned the fact that there are really no science fiction compilations of short stories that are academia-worthy. They said they have a guy working on one for the past three years now, and he’s stuck.
I said, jokingly, “Maybe I should write one.” And they said, “Yeah, you should!” And took my name and contact information to pursue it with the person in charge of that in their office.
You guys! I might get hired to compile a college textbook/reader! This is like a dream come true. I just hope it pans out for me and isn’t just the reps giving me false hope. More than anything, I’ve wanted to publish a book or two. I’ve always wanted to be known as a writer.
Thanks! I should also mention that it would probably also help me get a full-time job. Not to mention the royalties.
….and if you do write one, be sure and find out how we can order copies. I, for one, can never get enough good science fiction. 😉
