I got my learners at 14… I could drive, but needed an adult (over 18) with a full license sitting beside me to drive until I was 16.November 4, 2009 at 3:21 am #698759Must be Idaho…It’s permit at 15 here, and License at 16. But…there are stipulations. They cannot have more than one other teen in the car with them at any time while driving for the first year at least after they get the license. 😕 That’s something new to me…We did driver’s ed the semester before our birthdays, and had our license by our 16th birthday. No restrictions on how many kids you could pile in there either. But then again, we weren’t by law required to wear sea tbelts either. I wonder exactly how long the average life-span is now, due to the fact of all the new meds invented, and the safety regulations, etc etc…It has to be a lot longer now, than it was when I was 16. XD
November 15, 2009 at 4:24 am #698760I present….
RCAF “Avro Arrow”
Doesn’t look much like the plane, does it? Well it’s coloring and the RL204 designation is from one of the 5 Avro Arrows that were in service with the RCAF before they were dismantled (read, destroyed completely) because the US Air Force was jealous. They didn’t want the Arrow to go into production and our gov’t agreed. Anyway, this isn’t a political discussion….
This was painted for my fiancee, Colin, for Christmas. He’s an air nut and LOVES the painting of the Arrow that his mum made for him. So now he has a wolf in similar colors by me to love. 😀 Or, he will at Christmas. 8)
December 8, 2009 at 4:21 am #698761I had to google the plane; that’s an interesting idea using the plane color scheme on the wolf. I especially like how you did his face.
January 5, 2011 at 12:22 am #698762Whoof that’s a mouthful. It’s been OVER A YEAR since I painted anything, so I’m doing my first phoenix – a green cheeked conure phoenix for a friend, who’s commission I mussed up on (he liked it, but I promised him something that looked like his bird…).
So far I’m learning that I *can* do blending! Whoohoo! Though I can’t seem to do wet blending too much (I tried a bit, with this one), his blending seems good (for the intense awesome colors).
His basecoat is at 4 hours + of work – I can’t choose one color for a basecoat, because he has so many bright colors that wouldn’t cover each other up well.
Having fun with him though. 🙂 Wanna see the brightness so far, or should I wait till I got a bit more done?

Yes m’am! *salute*Like I said, I haven’t even finished what I consider to be the basecoat yet (unless you count the clear spray I put on, but I’m not). Lotsa blending though. And bright colors. The mirror shot, a stroke of genius. I can show the belly and the backs of the wings at the same time.
I still need grey on the white parts on the bird, and to figure out what I’m doing with the rock so I can work on that. I am also debating the crest. I could do bright red, the bluish color on the wings, green like the body, yellow (I’m favoring yellow at this time). Little more difficult because a conure doesn’t HAVE a crest. And I think the grey would look dull. I’m so not going for dull (can you tell?).
January 6, 2011 at 1:35 am #698767Wow, thats coming along nice. I think the blue or yellow would look nice on the crest. I think if you went with green it would melt into the body to much but thats my opinion. I can’t wait to see which way you go and what the finished piece looks like you got some nice options to play with. 🙂
January 6, 2011 at 2:17 am #698768It’s looking very nice! I think just about any color you’d do on the crest would look nice.
January 6, 2011 at 3:16 am #698769Wow he’s looking great! Your blending is fantastic even though it’s a base coat (my base coats look like a 2 year old finger painted it )! I would agree that the yellow for the crest would look awesome, or even red. I can’t wait to see him finished!

January 11, 2011 at 9:30 pm #698771Looking great! I think you should go with red for the crest.
