She’s very pretty. I really like how you did the mane. I think the blue eyes work well. You could put little blue gems in her mane and tail to tie the colors together, if it really bugs you 😉 .
I can relate on ‘should I sell’ or ‘should I keep’ dilemma. If I don’t sell at least some of my PYOs I don’t have any money to buy more. But I think you keep this one if you really like her. You can always sell her later 😉

I really like her! I will be honest though…I think that maybe the stripes should be more “blended in” to her brown coat? Do you know what I mean?
But I like the blue eyes! My kirin is like that-she is very dark, but her eyes are bright yellow, so it pops out! I sometimes think that if the eyes don’t pop out, it looks weird.

I thought of that, And I can see why it would look good, but I haven’t got the courage to try (I’m not THAT good at blending, LOL). I’ll probably try something like that eventually just not at the moment (I *should* be doing homework but needed a break).

I went and googled some zorse pics, since I wasn’t sure what they looked like… I find this one awesome!

😀 Looks like someone went at him with an eraser.

Pretty, but I agree that the lines could be blended in a bit more. I like the idea though, and it’s probably better than I could do. 😀

*LOL* I remember finding that one. I debated between him and another picture I found. I chose the other picture. I’m going to try blending him when I have time (in 30 years or so….)

I think I saw some of the pics you probably used. I would’ve gone for them too. I mean, my erased zorse is cute, but could you imagine a unicorn painted like that? It would look like the painter forgot to paint part of the uni!

I think the more “abbreviated” way you did the stripes worked out very well. It’s as if it makes the stripes more appealing, because there aren’t so many crowded in there to make the piece look “busy”. I particularly like the way you handled the striping over the rump: it almost looks like it fades out, not in contrast, but in presence. (Agh, I’m not explaining this well!) I guess the closest comparison I can come to is in calligraphy, where the letter itself is intricate and bold, but has these little tails flying off at the corners. Anyway, it’s a neat effect. I probably would have fallen into the trap of trying to put every stinkin’ stripe in place, and then wondered why the PYO looked like a hypnosis disc. 😮

I love blue eyes with brown, so I don’t think of the eye color as a detriment here. And the mane and tail are beautifully done. Great work! 🙂

A thought: you could even do a “ghost” pattern like this. Cream to off-white coat, mane and tail exactly as you’ve done them here, and the stripes fading to faint gray at the edges of the striped areas. Could be fun, and the blue eyes would look great there too, especially if the gray were ever so faintly a blue-gray. Just a thought. 😳

O.O Maybe the next uni I get. I love painting the Uni’s I just don’t have the time or the funds. Especially not the funds.

EDIT: OMG I fail! I forgot to say thank you! Hehe I didn’t do all the stripes because well paintbrush doesn’t paint lines that tiny. But I think she looks good. I’m still trying to figure out how to do the blending. Maybe I’ll take her with my when I go up to Grande Prairie for Christmas! 😀

I used the Zorse pic on this site… http://fannymanson.blogspot.com/2007/12/bloodstock-agent.html

It’s about 1/2 way down the page. 🙂 I really only used the one picture. I get confused with too many pictures… lol

Well I got a new Kirin started (she has green eyes, you just can’t see them).

              I’m calling her….. Calico! Lol… I know, inventive huh?

She is s WIP, needs some touch up on the white bits (where I can’t hold my brush it seems, lol), and definately the scales aren’t done at all! I’m thinking black with some brown blended in, but we’ll see.

There’s lots of blending and stuff in the colored parts of the fur, there’s about 5 or 6 different colors on the orange and maybe 4 on the brown. I like the subtle look to it. Though it’s hard to see in pictures, of course. I think the colored bits are done, for sure.

Well, because I’m sick and have nothing else to do… she’s finished! 😀 I’m pleased with how she turned out, but her scales are kinda (ok, really) rough. I think I may have added too much pearl-x to the paint or something, it’s not streaky rough, it’s grainy rough. It does look kinda cool though, so I think I’m just gonna leaver her like that. The scales are black with gold pearl-x and the front scales are a really really really dark brown with pearl-x. Just enough of a change that it’s there.

                .
                .

What looks like gunk on her eyes isn’t actually there in real life… strange… and the white spot near her horn in the back pic I think is flash, I can’t find it on the statue itself.

If I were to put her up for sale, would anyone be interested in buying her? Just curious. I’m kinda on the border. She is kinda rough on the scales and I know y’all don’t seem to like that too much.
