Howard county is the Kokomo area where the GM plant is going to be producing venelators. I just talked to a friend of mine near there, she said Indiana wasn’t really enforcing much. Maybe this is a sep moving in the right direction. I worry for my family still there.

Sun Dragon Koi #3March 29, 2020 at 1:23 pm #1607147Money is the only thing that matters in this world, and as long as the powerful can continue to rake it in, why then all is sunshine and roses. After all, they can shelter, they can send someone else if they want/need anything, and the rest of us don’t count a drop in the ocean. If a good chunk of us die, who cares? They don’t except as it may infringe on their being served or making profits in the market.
My county won’t instigate a curfew. Many businesses are still open, and packed. It’s a tiny county, but we’ve got close to 80 cases in it alone. Several hundred if you include the surrounding counties. They will only permit testing of those over 65 and with all symptoms presented, and then only if they make an appointment, can get to a regional testing site at that time, and there aren’t too many wanting one that day. I daresay they’re missing the bulk of the cases, the younger, milder, or just can’t make an appointment and get to a testing site folks.
March 30, 2020 at 5:46 pm #1607202Well – the Gov. of Maryland has officially mandated a ‘Shelter in Home’ order for all MD residents which started at 8pm (EDT) tonight. Some ‘bad apples’ probably made this a necessary order.
One IDIOT last week (or over the weekend – don’t remember which) had bonfires with 25+ people on two separate occasions and when told to disband by the police decided to ignore the order. At the second bonfire the police shut it down and he was taken to jail. Then there’s the other A-Hole who rented a hotel room and was having a Karaoke Party with 25 adults/children. Same deal – he ignored police warnings to disband the party and I believe he was heavily fined, but not taken to jail. So to keep any other Aspiring IDIOTs and A-Holes from being Socially Irresponsible, our Gov. officially mandated the ‘Shelter in Home’ order. Oh…and since that was on the news earlier today, everyone and their brother, sister, daughter, son, etc. seemed to be out and about in the box stores, grocery stores, Walmart, Lowe’s, etc. grabbing their last minute stuff….. Knuckle Heads! The Gov. also included this clarifying statement which makes perfect sense and should have been followed before this: “Congregating in parks or shopping for home goods is not OK, he emphasized, urging people to exercise “common sense.””I hope this ends soon.
Hope everyone is keeping Safe and Healthy!IN SEARCH OF MY NEXT GRAILS:

Yeah – unfortunately I agree. I believe earlier in March I read (or heard) that it was postulated (don’t remember who or when) that this new reality may continue and we may not go back to any type of normalcy, until potentially around July or August. They may have been correct.

Well – if he is in the National Guard, those brave men and women are setting up make-shift hospital beds and COVID-19 testing sites in schools, the Baltimore Convention Center and hospital parking lots, among other places. I believe they are also being utilized to help take medical staff to/from facilities.

Yeah. And this is a totally selfish whine, but the two things I look forward to in the Summer are Ren Faire and Gen Con. I’m not sure either will happen this summer. Somehow cramming 60,000 people into the Indy convention center seems like a bad idea to me with this virus floating about.

Sun Dragon Koi #3March 31, 2020 at 8:50 am #1607237I know! I was looking forward to two things… first my Hubby and I have a Charter Fishing trip out of Ocean City in the middle of May that will probably NOT happen now… and this year it looked like we were going to have some free time to go to the Maryland Renaissance Festival in August/Sept/October, after not being able to go since 2010. That may also be in doubt depending on how things play out later this year.

There is a large homeless population in my area- one camp of a couple hundred in the woods behind the Walmart, and singles/couples/families/small groups in the patchy woods all around, plus those sleeping in their cars and couch surfing. It’s big enough all the county school districts around here have special programs for homeless kids. Where do they go?
To my knowledge, there has already been at least 1 COVID-19 positive found in a man in a shelter in the next county south.
March 31, 2020 at 6:07 pm #1607284The dog show/dog sports world is bored and has nowhere to spend their money. Our season ramps up mid-March, right when the distancing practices started. All shows and training classes have been canceled through May so far, and some in June now too, including the Corgi show by Boston. I’m hoping to be able to go to the big one by Barrie in August, or the one in Montreal in September, but who knows.

I was also thinking of them as well because we have a huge population of homeless. So far I haven’t heard of an outbreak in the community but I’m concerned and worried about them.
April 1, 2020 at 6:49 pm #1607408If it’s in the community, they’re bound to get it sooner or later. As of the noontime news, there’s over 100 diagnosed in my county, over 300 in the county to the south- and over 100 in the county south of that. The county to the north of us has almost 100, the one to the west over 50, and the one to the east a bit under 50. So it’s just a matter of time.
I haven’t heard about any other diagnosed homeless, but you have to present proof of insurance on top of everything else to get tested.
