Haha, now we get to ask you questions! 🙂 So how long have you been doing painting and art in general, and how did you get into it? How did you develop your wonderful blending technique?

How did I know that a question about blending would be the first thing someone asked? LOL! Um…..hmmmm…I’ve been painting TECHNICALY since I was like 4 or 5. Painting well, probably when I was a little older. My mom had a ceramics business for over 35 years so I’ve always been around that kind of stuff. I was always alot more into drawing then painting, but painting pays better. I was apprenticing for tattoos at one point, but that fell through and it’s really hard in MA to get a license without at least a year or two apprenticeship. The blending? Well, I guess that just comes from experience and lots of patience. There really isn’t a trick to it, just alot of time investing.
Nam actually asked me about my blending once which totally floored me and I gave a really wordy explanition about practically nothing useful. LOL! Alot of base colors really is what works best. I always reccommend using white to lighten a color and using a darker variant of the color you want to blend to darken it. Darkening with black is the hardest and I only reccomend that if you are trying to darken something to black anyway. For example, I’d darken red with a cranberry color or royal blue with a dark navy, that type of thing. To lighten blue I’d just use white, it will naturally make a baby blue as you shift colors and the variation will be only those two hues blending toghther so it will lessen the blotchy effect you will usually see. That way I can do each feather seperately with just a few brush strokes, using the same brush as I go and clean it quicky with some water and do it over again the same way. It takes alot of practice and paitence.
The more base colors the better that way you can always match it up again without spending forever to try and mix things up if you need to touch something up later.
dragonessjade, my kitty is fat and happy! He’s now medicine FREE and has been for about 4 days now. I did get my rock dragon back, but it was a little damaged *grumble* Thanks for asking =)

Speaking of the rock dragon, did you have a chance to touch him up yet?
I did actually, you can’t even tell he was ever broken, but you know how YOU know, so it still bothers you. Yea…I feel like that. If it was one of my other Windstones I might not be as broken up, but he’s one of the only 12 so it drives me a little crazy. I was almost going to get a second one and put this one outside when I get a house, but since they rocketed up in price again I don’t see myself doing that.
I guess, I got one of the better deals, so it’s easier to swallow, but I still can’t believe that it happened in the first place.

My eye keeps getting drawn to tiny defects once I know that they’re there. And it would really bother me too if a brand new limited edition Windstone got damaged before he was even out of the box! Those neighbors are real creeps. I hope you haven’t had any more trouble from them?
Ha, I think you just need more exposure (i.e., more advertising)! Then you’ll have to beat them off with a stick… 🙂

Funny you mention it, I suddenly have some new neighbors! I didn’t even notice that they had moved!?!? Maybe they did end up getting evicted. The cops were at there house on a few occasions after the Rock Dragon incident, but I don’t know what for. I’m just glad that it’s over with.
