Oh no, what a shame! Fortunately, those breaks look pretty clean in most places. Shouldn’t be too hard to fix up, and with metallic paints he’d restore nicely. Best of luck with him, I’m sure the upper part is still beautiful!

Okay, I couldn’t help it. I’d really love to paint some more PYOs, even if they’re not mine! So I posted an entry in the commissions board over on the Flea Market forum. Basically I’m taking a blank PYO as payment for a commission! So you’d order two, and get yours back painted up as you like it, in return. PM or respond here if you’re interested!

Thanks! It’s REALLY hard to get the details of this guy down in photos. The back of the wings looks kinda scuffy, especially at the top. I drybrushed some accents on, and then softened them with a clean brush. I tried to do the same with the eyespots, but it didn’t work as well.

What an absolute shame! Seeing one in such nice condition reduced to that. Maybe the pieces will be offered up again by the original owner? I get the feeling sometimes that the only way I’ll see one of those old emps in my presence is by restoring a broken one 🙁 I’m just glad that you got your money back. Good luck towards finding another one!

Repairs: I’ve patched up my own Windstone pieces, and would be happy to consider restoring those of others. Rates would be assessed on a case-by-case basis, but I love trades or the chance to simply purchase a damaged piece. I should note that I restore pieces, I wouldn’t want to repaint anything Windstone that isn’t a PYO. Here’s a gallery of my repair work:

Sorry Blackdesertwind! I’ve had mine painted up for quite a while. I actually wanted the upper body to turn out a lot more leopard-y, but this is how he ended up, and I can’t complain. The spots and stripes around the eye are leopard-inspired too. Good luck with yours though, I’d love to see pics when it’s done!

Hi all! I got bitten by the PYO bug some time ago, but it’s taken me forever to finally get shots of this big fella online.
His inspiration was a clouded leopard, with the wings being a little bit spotted owl. He’s got copper and champagne-colored metallic paint on portions of his spots and the tips of some feathers, just for a little sparkle. UV-proof matte finish to seal it all in!
Please tell me what you guys think! I’m considering opening up for commissions, with my payment being an extra blank PYO. Let me know if you’re interested, and I’ll put a post up in the commissions board on the flea market forum. Thanks!

Wow, lovely! I haven’t liked the empeas all that much because they’ve had a lot of purple, they look almost neon-y. But the lime green on his wings is lovely for highlighting, and I love how it carries down the tail. Just enough purple to accent the dark areas. Beautiful!

Does anyone know when Windstone switched from the ink stamp to the felt pad bottoms? I have an old Protoceratops with a stamp, I’m curious as to just how old it is.
