Happy Birthday to all of you December babies, and an extra special Happy Birthday to NICOLE. 😀

I’ve been having computer problems lately and haven’t been following the forum. 🙁 I’m so glad I saw this. I hope there is a December drawing and I wish you extra luck for winning it Nicole. Wouldn’t that be a great birthday present! 😀

I have decided to stop hoarding and clean house! Some pieces have minimum asking prices; some long-retired pieces do not have opening prices listed. Feel free to make offers. If I receive a good offer, I will consider it sold; I am not going to drag this out. Shipping will be calculated after an item is sold and will include insurance and confirmation.

I will start putting pictures up tonight. PM me if you are interested in a specific item, and I will work on those pictures first.

I was wondering how the CG Hatching Empress would go with the SK. Can’t wait to see your pictures. 🙂

When you branch out into a new line of Windstones, you sure do start at the top! 😆

You could call Susie and ask if Windstone would be willing to contact the next highest bidder to see if they still want the SK. If she is allowed to, and if the other person does, you are off the hook. If Windstone declines, or if the second bidder has changed their mind, I would say you are now the surprised owner of two dragons. 🙄

I just saw this thread and want to add my thanks to all our people in uniform, both past and present, but particularly to the families left behind of those who have died fighting for us.

If you do end up keeping Honey and paying the vet bills, I would get in writing that the owners are giving the dog to you in exchange for you paying for her treatment. Preferably signed in front of the Vet and with his/her signature as witnessing it.

Am I suggesting they might let you pay the bill and then try to claim her? It’s certainly a possibility the way people are today. 🙁 However, with today’s economy, it could be that a bill of $1,000 is as insurmountable to them as $10,000 is to someone else. 😕

Let us know what you decide. If you do keep her, I will donate toward her vet bill.

And sorry to hear that, Syn789. As already mentioned, Susie can probably help. I have a brown griffin chick that I got from the store with black dots on it and Windstone was willing to exchange it.

Thanks to both Lokie and Frozen. I will contact Susie to see about returning it; but since it is the now sold-out Rainbow Lap, there will be no exchanging it. I bought one for myself and one for a friend. I don’t want it like that, and I certainly don’t want to give it to someone else like that. 🙁

Those are beautiful photos, Blackdesertwind. When I got to the bear, I thought “Wow…I wonder how close you were to that bear?” That is really a great shot.

It’s pretty daunting trying to decide; there are so many and so many features that it was hard to tell them apart at first. A lot of them take regular batteries, and that makes me nervous; I take lots of pictures, and I can see buying an endless supply of batteries. I am a lousy picture taker, so I end up taking hundreds of pictures of something just to get a few good ones. I am hoping a new camera might help cut that down, but I am leaning toward a camera with lithium ion rechargeable batteries.

I am thinking about getting the Canon G11, basically because it has good reviews, and I was able to pick it up and handle it. It is a bit smaller than I would like; but BestBuy is pretty much all that is left around me, so I am rather limited in what I can actually see. Sam’s Club, WalMart, Target, Staples, etc., all have the smallest cameras or the large DSLs, and not much in between. Canon seems to be quite popular with forum members, online reviewers, and store salespeople too; so that influences me quite a lot.

It’s not just the PYOs. I recently got a Lap from the Windstone Store that has what looks like painted-over dirt in two different spots, both of them on the display side. Needless to say, I am not a happy camper. Will Windstone take this back? 😡

I’m glad you mentioned memory sticks, LadyFirebird. I’ll need to make a list of which ones my card reader will support. My old camera uses Sony InfoLithium batteries and chargers, so I’m hoping new cameras still use those.

I went to the cnet web site you provided, kitsunelady, and that is really a good site. Short, sweet, and to the point if you want to use their rating stars, or categories galore if you are looking for models with certain features or prices. It also explains the various terms, features, abbreviations, etc., and I need that right now. It looks like I’ll be spending quite a while there.

Evidently some cameras come now with the red-eye reduction. Does anyone have that, and does it really work? The eyes on my blue-eyed cat always come out red. I am lousy at fixing it through software programs, so this feature interests me.

One thing I am definitely not wild about is changing lenses for everything I do. I think what I want is one that takes really good quality pictures for me, not one that takes a lot of time to use.

My very old camera suddenly died, and I need to get a replacement ASAP. I hadn’t even been thinking of getting one and there are lots of them to sift through. Reading a manufacturer’s glowing description is fine, but they certainly don’t tell you the bad points.

Does anyone have one that they love? One they hate? I am looking for one that is easy to use (meaning lots of automatic settings) and would appreciate any recommendations to give me a starting point. 😕

Thanks, LadyFirebird; it does help. Canon is a good name and will definitely be on my list, but there are so many different models that it’s hard to wade through them all. It looks like cameras and cell phones are in a competition to see which can come up with the most choices. 🙁 I hadn’t been planning to get a new camera, so I haven’t been researching them. I want to arm myself with some info before I get to a store and am hounded by salespeople trying for bigger commissions and extended warranties. It’s a good time to buy with all the sales that will be coming up though.

I didn’t realize they had cameras in colors now. I hope they don’t have any in Amethyst. I’d probably BIN and ask questions later! 😛

Well, mine is an old Sony Mavica. It was the latest and greatest at the time: it can actually switch between floppy disks and the original memory sticks, and it takes 1.8 MP pictures! 😳

I haven’t paid much attention to cameras since I got it, obviously a very long time ago, so it’s like going from horse and buggy days to a race car. I know more MPs is better, that I want a zoom feature, and that I don’t want a teeny, tiny one that is easy to drop. I definitely like the sound of that “auto” setting you mention. The more automated, the better; I am not a photographer, and I hate taking pictures. Other than that, I have no clue as to what to look for and how to start narrowing down the field. 😕 I would definitely welcome some more input. 🙂
