I asked Melody about the numbered Birman pad and got an answer!
Quote:Subject: Re: Numbered Birman flapcat?
Oh cripes… that is the missing pad from our numbered flapcats!
We lost one of them. I had to re-number another pad for the #12 “eye shut” limited edition ones, anyway ..that’s where it went! Ha! you found the missing pad!Mystery solved! 😀
Ok, here are the pics of my Birman. The number reads 3/12. He has a fuzzy friend :] Not a fantastic photo, but sufficient for what I needed.
I’ve never seen one at Walmart, but I’ve never looked in a Walgreen’s. I ordered mine from here I believe:

That’s actually the one I have. If you have pretty clean water, you can use tap water (I generally use it because it if it’s clean, clear, and when I feel lazy), but bottled water is preferred. I know with the one above, I use about 4 teaspoons of sea salt in luke warm water. You’ll know if the water is too hot or cold. After a few times, you can tell by your hand. If there isn’t enough salt, the water will feel harsh. Too much and it will burn a little and you will smell salt water for a bit 😆 I use really fine sea salt (it dissolves better). I usually use a little hotter water at first to help dissolve the salt and add cooler water to balance the temperature out, which is easier when you use tap water. You can’t use table salt. There are too many minerals added, like iodine. You also aren’t supposed to use it right after you eat. If you have any left over food bits, you don’t want them getting into your sinuses and causing an infection. I usually use it when I first wake up and am all stuffy and phlegm-y or just before bed. You do have to make sure you give your sinues a minute or two to get all the water out, or you’ll probably end up thinking you have a sinus cold for a few hours while the water drains. I just keep my head tipped over for about 2 minutes and gently blow into a papertowel (tissue doesn’t hold up to water :?) and blow a little bit when I get done and stand up straight. Not too bad, unless you have a dog come over to lick your face while you are bent over 🙄
I have had water get stuck in my ears a little, but that’s when I don’t let the water drain well and it goes away shortly thereafter. My mom does make fun at me when I start hacking and making spitting sounds (I do steps 1 and 2, two having you let some water drain down the back of your throat so you spit out stuff). Step three is where you take water in through your mouth and essentially snort it out your nose. My dad can do that (he doesn’t use a neti pot, but just does that in the shower… similar effect, but no salt water). I can’t with my gag reflex. Helps flush your back sinueses more thoroughly.
Takes a little getting used to at first (right water temp, right amount of salt, getting the right angle to hold and use it, right amount of time to let things drain), but you do get used to it pretty quickly. I think it took me a week (I kept laughing when my mom was offering commentary the first couple of days, which complicated things). You also will probably get a slight nosebleed at first, while you get used to flushing your sinuses, but nothing serious. You can do it as often as you feel necessary and what your nose and sinuses will allow and feels comfortable. Took me about two weeks for my sinuses to really clear (they were just bad and constantly infected). I use it more often when I’m sick (3-4 times a day if really stuffy) or sometimes just every other day when things are really clear, but I try to use it once every day and I take it on the road with me when I travel. It’s actually a form of yoga (jalaneti) and has been in use for over 1000 years.
May I suggest a neti pot? I used to have horrible allergy and sinus issues (was constantly on medication and would get sinus infections one right after the other for years… 3-4 weeks to get over, 2 weeks later I’d have another one, repeat). Started using a neti pot on a suggestion because meds weren’t really helping anymore and I’ve been essentially free of sinus infections and meds since March 2006 (I occasionally use flonase or nasacort if I’m run down a little and need to stave off a cold). I’ve only had 1 sinus cold (this summer when I forgot to use my neti pot for about 2 weeks and then got myself run down), but I figure that’s a MUCH better track record than I did have going 🙂 It may not get rid of the sinus issues totally (especially if they are allergy related), but it should at least help lessen the severity and frequency of them.
It’s pretty inexpensive too (about $20 for a neti pot – mine is stainless steel) and a container of sea salt every so often from the grocery store. It’s essentially a nasal douche for your nose, more thorough than a nasal spray.
Regardless, feel better soon!

Awesome. I’m jealous :] I had a fun little hermetic, but I definitely miss playing Mage, Sorcerer’s Crusade, and W:tA. *makes little wolf whines*
Ok, back to the regular discussion 😆
Ohhh, I want some ink (been working on a design for quite some time), but I need three things to happen:
1) Make sure I’m not allergic to the ink
2) Be done with getting to Japan and back (it is a major taboo over there still and I don’t want to have to deal with that while teaching there).Yet another thing on the to do list 🙄
I took a picture, but I probably won’t get it uploaded until tomorrow (since I have to leave for work soon).
Yup, Canadian Thanksgiving is set around the old liturgical calendar and coincides with the European harvest festival and is the 2nd Monday in October (it’s also older than the US holiday). The US holiday was officially declared a federal holiday with a standard date (the 4th Thursday in November) by Abraham Lincoln. Only Venison and “wild fowl” (duck, goose, or turkey) are officially known to have been eaten at the Thanksgiving by the Pilgrims, though the Virginia Colony had a collective Thanksgiving in December two years earlier.
Hehe… visit Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts. There are a lot of interesting things they show and teach you that corrects the stuff that you were taught as a kid in elementary school 😉
Fantastic! I’m glad you could finally get your tat after everything that has happened! Very nice! 😀 I hope the health is going well too!
Ok, so I just checked and it wasn’t the Brown OW with the number. It was my Birman. It says 3/12 and is signed by Melody. He was from the last batch. I forgot I had the two pieces on my bed at the same time when I was moving them around on the shelves to make space for the OW. Still, I thought the Birman was considered limited production as well.
Hmm, I’ll have to check my brown hatching emperor too.
Mmloda, I’ll try and get a pic tomorrow and upload it before work if I can. If not, I’ll be doing pics of some pyos on Saturday and can get a pic of him at the same time.

Concentration was voice (mezzo-soprano), but I have also played flute long enough that I could have majored in it easily (if I wanted to drive myself nuts… flute is soooooo competitive! The head flute instructor was also an idiot.). I thought voice was more fun and versatile (and no scales involved 😆 ).
Yeah, I didn’t think so either (just limited edition and artist editions had signatures) that’s why I’m curious what it means 🙂
I noticed my Brown OW has a number on his underside on the felt. Is that an indication of the number that were made? It’s a fraction (I’m at work, so I can’t confirm until tomorrow morning).

Nightcrow, it’s a silvery pyo in between a Rainbow Young and an EmPea Young. That’s why he looks silvery 😉 He does indeed look very pretty though!
