There are also those of us who have very limited free time! I’ll post up my pics eventually. Someday. When I have a free moment to upload them from the camera.
I’ve also experienced what meowmix101 has encountered in the past, though thankfully not recently. I definitely think it is not the norm! Most people who have asked me are very polite and aren’t pushy (and I don’t mind people asking at all if they are polite!), but there are always a few people out there who don’t take the hint the first time. Not recently though (back with some of the gb young unis a few years ago). It can be a bit uncomfortable and even a bit stressful for the person being asked when that happens, so I can certainly understand someone holding off or being hesitant about posting something that is sought after that they are happy with. I know I have held off once or twice to avoid getting pounced on right away. I’m usually just lacking in free time, like right now (between work, class, and family matters)!
Congratulations!
I ordered a second wolf when Windstone lifted the limit, and my second wolf apparently decided to tour the country before coming home. Last I checked tracking he went from Oregon to Maryland (I guess he wanted to see all the snow out east) where’s he’s been stuck for days. I paid for Priority Mail 2-day & he was supposed to be delivered Saturday, but he’s still in Maryland with no update on estimated delivery. Isn’t it great that USPS charges extra for Priority Mail delivery services! :((
Keep in mind the East Coast has also been hit very hard by winter storm after winter storm. It’s not necessarily the reason your wolf has detoured and been sitting in Maryland, but there could be a bit of a backup of things at some sorting facilities due to weather.
E6000 glue works with most things where super glue does not. It does have a very strong odor, so you should have a bit of ventilation while it dries (24-48 hours to be completely dry). You would need to make sure you have a way to keep it still while the glue sets up. It’s pretty inexpensive and I’ve used it for quite a few projects.
Hannah, he looks like the coloring of a Belgian Malinois or a maned wolf (though they often have a bit of white on the tip of their tail). Very pretty and a very rich shade of brown.
P.S painted a pink coiled male with hearts on some of the scales for Quest prize #4 (currently sitting on my shelf and visible in the Quests gallery images).
I don’t know what to expect (I’m pretty content with whatever gb I get with the grab bags… I’m so easy going with these things! ^_^). I am a bit partial to a gray wolf or a cross fox gb though. Will just have to see who arrives at my doorstep! Always such a lovely surprise!
January 23, 2015 at 10:40 pm in reply to: Adopt a Species with WWF (World Wildlife Fund) and get a cute stuffed animal #924545Cool link, thank you. I’m glad they have a good rating with Charity Navigator.
I’m rather impressed that the species adoptions include Hellbender Salamanders. Never knew anyone made a Hellbender stuffed animal…
Hellbenders! My college had some (the Biology department was conducting research on hellbenders and it was a big deal when we got them). Neat little guys.
Copyright is a funny thing. If you don’t enforce it consistently, you can end up unable to enforce it later on under different circumstances. I think we’ve all seen the knocks offs that show up on ebay and the like – unfortunately, in order to be protected against those, Windstone also has to prevent individual collectors from altering sculpts if they know about it.
I know it sucks and, honestly, Melody and John probably don’t have a _personal_ issue with repaints or resculpts. But legally, it’s just the stance the company has to take.
The literal issue is not altering the sculpt. The literal issue is that the original copyright marking is missing/removed from the sculpture. You can alter a piece, but you cannot alter the copyright or remove it in any way. You also cannot reproduce any part of the sculpture in anyway accept to repair another piece.
That is the issue. The copyright symbol carved into the back of the base.
Actually, it is an issue whether or not the original copyright symbol is there or not. This has come up previously on the forum a few years back when people requested to alter PYO sculpts. It is still altering the original sculpt to the point of violating copyright law, even if the original copyright symbol was there. Unfortunately, like Kiya previously posted, Windstone has to protect their copyright in order to protect their livelihood, so they can continue to produce art and provide a living for themselves and their employees. It’s not being mean, it’s just the way it is and the way the laws are written.
I don’t see anything mean-spirited posted to this thread, but I’m sorry if someone was mean to you either of you two privately.
That’s great news! I hope they are able to make progress! A classmate from college, her younger sister has FOP I believe. She has been unable to walk since sometime in high school and was already losing the ability to move her arms properly at that time if I remember correctly. A treatment or cure would be marvelous!
I didn’t realize you were a twin as well. π
Happy Birthday opal dragon!
Happy Birthday starbreeze!
Happy Birthday Susie! π
I was going to post some pictures of the amazing PYO I traded for last year… π She is one my prize pieces… just love her.
Here is Snowflake!
(Sorry the pictures are a little blurry… but hopefully you can see all the detail that went into her)I believe WindstoneCollector painted that. She painted several pyo unicorns with ‘scenes’ on them in that same style. π She hasn’t posted actively on the forum in a few years. Nice catch!
