this is not a screengrab of the actual doppler that I saw on my friend’s phone, but this is almost exactly what it looked like.

And, hah! A weather board discussing it. http://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=105253&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=120

It passed within a few minutes, but the Doppler echo had a very distinct spiral, complete with an eye. It was the most amazing thing the closet meteorologist in me has ever seen.

I’m just glad that my animals were fine when I did manage to navigate the mess and get home. I was at work when it went through.

I have net back at home now, so I’ll finish the things I need to do.

In the meantime, I’ve unlocked the LJ post I made with storm damage photos in case anyone was curious.

The weather event is called a derecho. Here’s the archive of the event: http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/goes/blog/archives/date/2009/05

I’m startled and a little upset that this has not made any kind of national news. The damage is insane and widespread. People have gone without power since Friday, homes and property has been destroyed, but only one person was killed, so I guess it wasn’t interesting enough for CNN or Yahoo. The weather event was truly unique, it was comparable to having a Category 2 hurricane blast through here (and the radar echo even looked like one! we were watching it on a friend’s phone while we were sitting it out in the mall’s storm shelter). It’s unlikely we’ll ever see anything like this happen here again.

Anyway, that’s how I spent my weekend.

          Yay.

I was caught up in Friday’s storms here in the Midwest and things around here are just now starting to return to normal. I do not have ‘net at home (though I do finally have power) and I’m posting using a paid time block at McD’s. I know I owe a PM to someone for the oriental box, but in case someone else was needing something from me (and I don’t think there was), know that it might be a couple more days before I can finally get things squared away.

It’s been a really tough week!

:hi: It’s funny–I had just looked at this post for the first time today, and actually knew what the answer was–you just beat me to the punch! 🙂

I think April is character 3, also.

Have you figured out what to ask yet?? I figure that’s probably the hardest part…

Yup. Donnie, Casey and April, in that order. I never understood that one until I watched it again when I’d ‘grown up’ so to speak.

                    Character one is not human.

It was quite popular back in the early nineties. 😉 The sequels kind of sucked though.

I’ll give a hint: Character 1 is played by Christian Bale. There’s always cheating and googling it, too. 😛

                        I cheated, it’s American Psycho, isn’t it?

Edit: Was gonna wait, but can’t resist this one.

                        Char 1: You’re a claustrophobic!
Char 2: *flustered* You want a fist in the mouth? I’ve never even looked at another guy before!
Char 3: What he means is, you’re afraid of enclosed spaces.
Char 2: What? Afraid? I don’t have to take this stuff about being afraid, I’ll go sleep in the truck!

That’s super unique! I used to collect zuni fetishes (I still have an italian marble wolf) and I’ve never seen a griffin before. I’d say, if you’re into griffins and rocks, you ought to snap this one up.

I have a blue eyed wolf that I’ve put a coat of white on and masked it’s eyes, but nothing else. I won’t have time to do PYOs for a while, so I could be talked into parting with him.

What kind of work are you looking for?

                                  My bad! I’m a graphic designer/web designer.

I’m not super picky other than the fact that I don’t want to move too far away (I tried to move to NC once…that didn’t work so well) from family and I’d rather not go to Chicago, but even Chicago is on my location list now, and I’m ranging a little further afield with the stuff I apply for.

It’s a rough world at the moment, no doubt about it. And reading some design communities, I also know I’m certainly not the only one sending resumes into the abyss. ;P
