Hobo was eating Meow Mix. He seems ok with the new food mixture today, he hasn’t thrown it up. The science diet is alot smaller pieces then the Meow Mix and he always swallows his food mostly whole so I’m not sure if that was part of the issue or not. I didn’t watch him eat today to see if he chewed it more or not but so far he has kept it down. He is giving me the evil “I hate you” look though.

I thought science diet was a good food thats why I spent the extra money for it 🙄 I saw taste of the wild at the pet store but didn’t see if for cats. /sigh maybe I’ll have to try something else. There are so many damn cat foods out there its hard to know which one to buy.

I’m trying to put my cat Hobo on a diet. His vet told me he needs to loose around 5 lbs so I thought if I cut back his regular food that would do it. Well it hasn’t so I switched him to science diet light yesterday. Every time he eats it he goes off into the kitchen and throws it back up. Now he has never been one to chew his food all the way, more like he just shovels it into his mouth and swallows. I’m not sure if its his way of saying “OMG Mom what is this garbage you are trying to feed me?!” or if he really has a medical problem going on. Has anyone had a problem with this brand of cat food or have any advice on what do to? Hes not in any distress and will try to eat his barf if I don’t pick it up fast enough. If he keeps this up I’m going to take him to his vet but I’m hoping its just an “ewwww this food sucks” reaction. Also he is getting a mix of his regular food and the new food I’m not switching him cold turkey from his old stuff.

You got the WoW laptop! OMG that thing was super expensive, I wanted one so bad but couldn’t justify spending that much on one. I want to get a laptop for hubby when he goes in the hospital so he has something to do other then stare at the walls. I’d like to get one that can play WoW but I don’t know what minimum specs it would have to have.

Yes Hobo is our cat. He didn’t seem to care about the puppy.

We are looking at a pit bull (OMG but it will eat your baby Nom Nom Nom). We tried to rescue an adult from a local shelter but she turned out to be very animal aggressive and just didn’t get along with Hobo so we had to return her. After that we decided whatever dog we get will be from a foster home rescue. I’ve been talking with two people from a local rescue and thats how we met the puppy we had over the house for a play date yesterday. He was half starved when brought into the rescue and has been with his foster mom for two months. She is very knowledgeable about the breed and her foster pup. She was very upfront with us about him that he will need alot of socialization and training to be a well rounded adult. I know that now isn’t the best time to get a new pet with all the time that Alyssa takes up but ever since we had to rehome our two dogs when Danny got sick both of us have wanted to get another one. Since the economy is doing so poor and lots of people are being forced to take their dogs to the shelter I just feel that since we have the resources that maybe we should give one of those dogs a second chance. I had told the rescue that we were looking for an adult dog (even though danny wants a puppy) and the lady suggested meeting this puppy since he is so laid back which surprisingly for a puppy he is. I know if we do get a dog its going to be ALOT of work. I’m just trying to educate myself on how to handle puppy toddler interaction before we make any decision on what we are going to do.

We have been thinking of adopting a dog and Danny wants to get a puppy since he thinks it will be easier to train. He says its easier to mold a puppy then it is an adult dog. We had a puppy play date with a dog that is in foster care and he did very well with Alyssa and our cat. He did want to play with Alyssa and I know that she will get pounced so I’m looking for advice on how to deal with that. What should I train the puppy to do/not do? I plan on taking whatever dog we get to obedience training and get their canine good citizen but I’m looking for advice from others who have raised both puppies and young children together. I’ve raised two puppies before so I have some experience just not with puppies and kids at the same time lol.

I have no patience I just need to keep my job lol. Usually my partner and I switch off in between patients that get on our nerves. That way we can stay sane and not yell at them. I don’t mind so much when people use us as a taxi if they have some kind of medical problem that just started but when its been ongoing for days/weeks/months and yes YEARS then it bothers me. The night he fell we had one patient who was vomiting since last week and was told to go to the hospital on thursday so now sunday night she decided to take his advice. I was already irritated about that then this lady calls us and he ends up getting hurt so I was fit to be tied. Also it never fails that the idiots who use us as a free taxi always call after midnight.

We are paid for by tax payers dollars so we don’t charge. I know the city charges because I got a $500 bill from them back when I was in a car accident. Also alot of volunteer medics charge as well. Since we are free we get abused alot by people who don’t want to take the bus or a cab.

People like to use us as a taxi service since we don’t cost anything. Yeah I wanted to tell her to get in her damn car and drive herself since it was such an emergency 🙄 My partner is home but I haven’t gotten a chance to talk to him yet. We were up all night and I figure he is probably sleeping. What sucks is last night was his last night before he went on vacation. Now he gets to spend his vacation with staples in his head. Even if he wasn’t on vacation he wouldn’t be allowed to work since you can’t work with staples or stitches. I did find out that the Battalion Chief complained to our head ems director about the hospital not numbing him up before they put the staples in. They just came right over and stapled his head without giving him anything for pain. I wasn’t there when they did it I was cleaning the medic unit. I probably would have b****ed a fit if I had been there.

So we finally got some snow around here last night and of course its my last night of work. We ran all night long and around 4am we got a call for a 60 some year old with abdominal pain and vomiting since friday. I pulled up infront of the house and called arrived only to hear a loud “thud” come from the passenger side of the medic unit. I look over and see the door open but my partner isn’t there. I called out to him but he didn’t respond. I quickly got out of the medic only to find him curled up on the ground holding his head. I asked him again if he was alright and he said no. I got on the radio and called for another medic unit while he crawled into the back of the medic. He had blood all over the back of his head so I grabbed some 4×4’s and tried to find where the bleeding was coming from. While I’m doing all this I see this little old lady poke her head in the medic and says to me “oh I can walk”. It was the lady who called us there in the first place, she didn’t see my partner fall and apparently couldn’t figure out what was going on. I told her to sit in the chair next to me that another medic unit was coming to take her. She then says to me “oh I could have drove myself to the hospital” &*$@@&^#^ is what I wanted to say to her but I bit my tongue. To make along story short the other medic finally showed up to take our original patient to the hospital (even though she could have driven herself) and my partner ended up on a backboard taken to another hospital and now has 7 staples in his head. So yeah that was my night lol.
