Fantasy. I didn’t get an e-mail saying the cougars were in the store (got the same e-mail for the individuals twice) so I missed the Giraffe completely and whenever I came to the site the GBs weren’t being displayed as on sale so I didn’t realize they’d been released until the day after. I was lucky a friend mentioned they had been put up in the store.

I’m glad you like the sleeve! Redbubble is usually pretty good with their stuff.

Just got mine a few minutes ago (7:56 PM). UPS typically delivers late in my area. But won’t be opening until tomorrow. Doing an unboxing with a friend.

Aw, thanks so much Ela & Rylorien.  You know I hadn’t thought about the python-esque look the gas clouds gave, but I can definitely see it now.  Its interesting to see how people interpret the same piece!  And I am proud of him, he was a labor of love.  🙂

You know, looking back…I never even mentioned how my ranking for progression went!  I got in!  Woo woot!  There is going to be a lot of work in the near future and a LOT of penny pinching…but it’ll all be worth it!  So ‘Galaxy Tides’ is probably the last thing I paint for awhile.  However, once I finish my program and get a new job I have a HUGE project with PYO pieces planned.  It should prove super challenging and something that to my knowledge hasn’t been attempted by anyone here yet.  But I’m ready for it!

Well, I just finished my most recent Windstone paint project.  But as he’s a repaint I can’t post him here.  If you’re interested in taking a peek at ‘Galaxy Tides’ you can check him out on my FB page or my dA page.  Links to either of my pages is in my signature.  If you’re interested in the story behind him, check out the dA page.

                    Soooo…who’s the lucky winner?

Excellent question!  I’m crossing my fingers, but not holding my breath.  I never get that lucky.  But to whomever wins, Congrats!

Ithink your ‘Sea flowers’ paint is gorgeous, my only critique is the base, much like Rylorian, I think it’s too busy considering how bright and colorful the Hipp is.

You know, the funniest thing about so many people mentioning the base on ‘Sea Flowers’ is that the entire time I was painting it I was bothered by what I thought was washed out and boring.  I thought it didn’t match the Hippocampus at all because of that.  I thought it was dingy, pale, gray and dirty looking.  Funny, no?

What is even more amusing is that the individuals who really like my work are usually the most pinched for money.  And I understand their frustration.  It is SO annoying to see something you’d love to get and then have to hold back because it wouldn’t be practical or wise to get it at the time.  Especially if its something you know is a one time thing.

Well first I have to say I didn’t expect so many in depth replies.  I want to say thank you for taking the time to do so.  Anytime someone makes the effort to create a thought out reply of more than a sentence online is quite nice.

To be honest, I was aware of the trouble I’d have putting anything up for sale around the time of the Kickstarter.  It was a grand Kickstarter with a lot of cool add ons and rewards.  In terms of money, I’m well aware of the problems of having free money to spend.  Something is always coming up.  I would have liked to participate in the Kickstarter myself but as I’m trying to save money to pay for classes…well, there you go.  So the free money point is one I’m familiar with and point taken.  There are also all the wonderful little grab bags that regularly pop up and special color schemes that suddenly get released.  Those difficulties I’m familiar with.

Finding somewhere else to put my stuff sounds like a must.  I detest selling on eBay because as was pointed out, no one wants to pay for the work put into a paint scheme.  They’re looking for as cheap as possible.  If I were to put ‘Sea Flowers’ onto eBay I might get $50 and that’s it.  Which isn’t exactly fair to me.  Not with the amount of time I put into him.  I’ll probably either go Etsy or wait until I have several PYOs and get a booth at an anime convention or something.  Perhaps the art festival that is held once a year in my area.

So aside from those points I got that there isn’t anything necessarily wrong with my painting skill (which is a relief).  But my color schemes for the most part are swing and misses.  Which is fair, I enjoy painting them and the challenge of getting the idea onto the sculpt is great but not everyone has my tastes.  My dad told me that I’m wasting my time painting.  And I guess if I’m trying to paint to earn spare money he’s right.  So I’ll just stick to painting for recreation and if someone wants to buy it here they’ll contact me.  But if not I’ll just save it and see about that Etsy thing or a booth at a convention.

Thanks for all of your time and feedback.  It’s been much appreciated.

Thanks for the votes of confidence Ela_Hara and Tig3r06.  Much appreciated as notification date approaches.

On a side note, think I could get some critiques on my PYOs?  I like the work I do on them, but was wondering if there is something I could improve?  I ask because while I get a positive reception whenever I post pics of them (which I appreciate to no end) they move SO slowly.  Are they too bright for people’s tastes?  Not elaborate enough?  Too elaborate?  As a seller of PYOs am I just unpleasant to deal with?  I just wonder because I see simpler PYO designs sell faster and more complex designs sell faster and I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong.  Any friendly critique or advice is welcome.

I was told they were aiming for the second week of July.  I’m crossing my fingers too.  Seventy percent of ranking is based on your scores in the 2 Anatomy & Physiology lecture plus lab classes (they also look at how many times you took the 2 Anatomy classes) and the other thirty percent is based on the score you got on the TEAS test.  I took Anatomy 1 & 2 just once and made 4.0 in each one.  And the TEAS I got a score of 94 overall.  My friends all think I’ll get in but I keep sweating and thinking…maybe some other people did better than I did.  But I’m my own worst enemy.  I could have gotten a 100 on the TEAS and I’d still be worrying.

Normally I don’t create fan art (because I prefer creating characters from my own head space), but I liked this one challenge floating around on dA and decided to give it a try.  The Cringey Pony OC challenge by Lopoddity.  But anyways, here’s my edgy little creation.  I’m not entirely sure if I’m permitted to post this here, but if not please take the post down.

Her name is Zimira if anyone is curious.  I’m mildly tempted to paint a unicorn with this color scheme, but we’ll see.

It will definitely be a game changer.  I’m hoping to get into the program for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.  Basically an ultrasound technician.  I should be finding out if I got in some time in July.  Needless to say, I’m nervous.  I worked really hard on my pre-req courses and the TEAS test that was required for progression ranking.  But only 10 people get picked for the course every year so I’m sweating.  I don’t know what I’ll do if I don’t get into the program.  But if I do…it’ll last about a year and a half.  Then I’ll be able to get a job as an entry level ultrasound tech.  Much better than what I was doing AND a LOT better than what I’m currently doing.
