I am so excited to hear this! I’m just trying to finish up my very first PYO now… I have a preference for orientals so I know I’ll have fun with this 🙂
I’m very excited about the PYO Oriental too. I already have an idea of what I want to do with one when I buy it (when it becomes available). Because I can afford at least one for my own collection.

I wouldn’t take it personally that they are not selling. I think it might just be that the pyo market is over saturated since so many have been painted and sold. Also since they compete for money that people tend to save for grab bags or special pieces I think that is why they are not selling as much now. I know in the past there was high demand for them but I think people only have so much room to collect and display them too. I would love to buy more pyos myself but I would need to buy a bigger cabinet and save more money as so far I have only had enough for the recent grab bags and not enough left for the production pieces or pyos. I hope after the cougars are done that we get a break again to recoup our finances.
Thank you Kim! I admit, I was discouraged but I wasn’t taking it too personally. You’re right that the market is probably saturated right now. And Windstone itself has to make money so it’s production has increased quite a bit from when I first found the website. If I have space & money limitations then certainly other buyers do as well. They’re going to save their money/space for a production piece of course. -laughs- Also it’s difficult to ‘compete’ with a the pre-painted PYO that Windstone is selling on eBay (I don’t begrudge the production painters at all, it’s awesome that Windstone is giving them a chance in the spotlight). If you were a collector who couldn’t paint for yourself, what would you buy? A piece painted officially by the company or one being sold by someone you’d never heard of? -shrugs- It’s the way things work. Frustrating, but that’s how things have always been.

I can’t really afford to paint them just for fun because of space limitations & finances and they don’t really sell. And now that Windstone puts out the occasional pre-painted PYO…. So I guess for the most part unless I join a swap or a new PYO sculpt comes out that I want or someone commissions me I won’t really be posting that much in this thread anymore. I know no one probably cares, but I feel obligated to mention it just in case. Thank you to everyone whose popped by to look and been kind enough to say something.
Aww, I’m sorry, I enjoy looking at them! But I understand perfectly where you’re coming from. It’s why I haven’t painted more than the handful I have. Unless it’s a new one I’ve got to have or a gift or something, I just can’t. And I’ve never gotten a commission or request lol. So unless my circumstances change or something, my thread is dead also.
That really sucks! I remember you mentioning that in your PYO thread. I’m sorry your circumstances didn’t change for the better in regards to painting. It’s really frustrating! You either have time, but no money…or you have money, but no time! It’s a shame because you had some really nice PYOs too. -laughs- I guess we need more people to like Windstone that have super deep pockets. So they can afford production stuff as well as forum member paint jobs. 😉

But anyways, I’m not giving up. I want to paint. I just can’t until I unload my current pieces. I don’t have the space to store multiple painted sculpts. And until I get extra money, I can’t purchase more blanks willy-nilly. So I’m going to have to paint only when I get a commission or when a swap comes around. Hence why I’m not going to be posting to this thread very often. Circumstances won’t permit it.

Personally, I think you should list the foos separately (this is not based on experience, just an opinion). There are pros and cons to both ways. But someone who is interested in buying one sculpt might not want the other and it may discourage a bidder. On the other hand, people may want a matching set. But if they want a matching set so bad, they can still bid on both. Separately they have a better chance of earning more money for you. Together they might just get one bid and then you lose TWO pieces for a low price. I guess it depends on where you put your starting bid. I just know it would make me cry if I put a low starting bid price and only one person bid. Then your hard work goes for practically nothing!

Still, I hope the best and am glad to see that not everything is bad news. I’m happy that laundry will be closer to you and that you’re still working a little on your art. The cat is lovely. Will it be a black cat or are you going to do patterns?
