      Biting my tail in anticipation!

Ditto! I have a lot of favorites in this batch…but I’m not sure how I’ll feel until I open the box. I mean, there are some in the class photo I REALLY like. But even if I get something else I’m not sure I’ll want to trade once I set my eyes on the one that I get. I have to see ‘im in person. 🙂

Looking forward to seeing all the pictures too! And if I’m not dieing over mine when I share a pic, don’t hesitate to inquire about a possible trade. If I’m dieing over it, I won’t trade and I’ll say so when I post the pic. 😉

Thank you very much for saying so Stormbreeze! I appreciate every single comment in regards to my PYOs. It’s great to get the feedback and know that something I’ve done is connecting in some way to viewers. I love all my PYOs (I can afford to because I have few enough that I can actually note them individually) but it’s really nice to know what’s popping out to other people!

Hey guys! This is Gina, we’re all so glad you’ve been liking our eBay pieces and Melody has been so great letting us be so creative! Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful comments!

I would like to say that Water Sprite and Black Rainbow are fantastic looking! I’d love to see either of these become regular production colors. Black Rainbow looks especially amazing on the Spectral. Really nice work with the application of the red color. 😀

I personally love a lot of the PYO pieces I see painted by forum members who have more talent then I do, and some of yours are really really lovely…your Gothica Uni & Kitsune especially-just not quite my colors, but your designs are great!

My problem has always been space space space! Some funds issues, yes, but if I had only an 1/8 of the space I see some of you guys have w/cabinets and such, to display my Windstones (GB, prod, & PYOs) I’d be ecstatic! Unfortunately I’m actually about at my space limit now and I still have 8+ PYO pieces (and plans for PYOs)to paint for myself, and I might not have any room to display them all. :/

Ugh, yes…SPACE! Always one of the main concerns. Sometimes I don’t know if I lack money or space more! -scratches cheek- Hm. Have you ever seen those wall shelves? Maybe that could be an option for your ‘to be painted’ PYOs?

I never said you were blaming Windstone. I’m reading defensiveness with that sentence, although that wasn’t my intent with my post. Like you, I have an opinion about the selling of painted PYOs on Ebay and was backing it up with my own observations (like this is not a new practice; what the pieces are going for; etc. ).

Anyways, if I mistook your tone with your reply, then my bad. I’ll avoid posting further in your thread so I don’t steer it where you don’t want it to be. *Insert peace symbol emote here* =P

                              Actually, I would prefer to communicate. I don’t want anyone to avoid a thread because they want to avoid stepping on my toes. -sighs- My apologies if I came across like that. I’m a big girl and I can handle a slightly different opinion in a civilized manner (which is what you’ve done Lokie, handled all of it in a civilized manner). I really don’t want to be ‘THAT’ person that freaks out for nothing. ^_^;

The story behind the PYOs that have appeared on eBay recently is actually quite nice. It’s good that the production painters get chances to paint stuff that they want. It’s a good opportunity to stretch their artistic legs, don’t you think?

I have also been thinking for a while that turqouise/teal coloured dragons would be awesome! I also love the colour of the water sprites and think this or a colour like this would be a good production colour. Also will there be autumn leaf dragons too at some point or were those still being test painted?

I have been working on autumn leaf dragons forever. I still am not satisfied with them. We have about a dozen AL test paints sitting around.

I do like the Water Sprite coloration. It really has a lovely subtle touch to it.

And to comment on the Autumn Leaf dragons you have sitting around…. Would it be too much to ask to see a picture of one or two of them? Or will we be waiting until they make their migration to eBay? Migrating dragons? They must be Monarch Butterfly Autumn Leafs. Oh wow…that would be a fantastic paint scheme to see…I kinda want to try it (perhaps on the PYO Oriental when it’s released, or a Keeper). But I’m not sure I’d do it justice. 😀

More seriously…they’d be pretty awesome monthly raffle prizes too! ^_^; I’m always hopeful.

I don’t have any really useful advice to give. I don’t paint PYOs often, but when I do, I focus on painting color schemes that I personally find pleasing so if they don’t sell and have to stay with me, I don’t mind. That’s the originally intent, anyways. Unfortunately, I do eventually end up minding because I’m not a big fan of keeping my work around, so eventually I want them to find new homes. I’m fortunate enough to have a plethora of relatives who genuinely like what I paint and would be enthusiastic to receive any of my PYOs as gifts. (Which reminds me, I promised to paint a phoenix for my sister…..). Of course, getting paid for something versus giving it away is always preferred.

I can’t find fault in anyone for not purchasing anything I paint. I don’t purchase other people’s PYOs either and have been saving my meager pennies for new production pretties, so I’d have double standards if I assumed that’s acceptable for me and not others. Even still, my self-esteem can take a hit for a bit when I think something I did is really amazing but doesn’t end up selling right away. For example, my last couple of unicorns I thought were the bomb but didn’t generate much buying interest. They did both eventually sell, but not by active forum members and it took a while.

Personally, I don’t think Windstone is hurting forum painters by occasionally releasing PYOs on Ebay painted by production artist. I don’t know if you were around then, but when the early PYOs were released (Griffin, Dragon, Wolf and Uni), Nam (Jennifer Miller) was painting them and also releasing them on Ebay as official Windstone pieces. So this practice isn’t anything new, it just took a hiatus. If anything, I hope if generates more interest in PYOs in general by this type of exposure.

I think the fact that the recent Windstone production painted PYOs on Ebay went for so little probably means that the interest by those with expendable income is focused elsewhere (grab bags and whatever is the new hot trendy sculpt, me thinks). If officially painted PYOs with the Windstone label aren’t getting a piece of the pie, then independent forum artists weren’t going to get it either with their own PYOs.

Anyways, sorry for the long-winded post. Just kind of typing things as I think of them. I guess it doesn’t really address your issues. I love the PYO line and hope to see it never go away. When I think how much grab bags are going for and even small production pieces, it’s nice that there is an economical way to get some beautiful Windstone sculpts in my collection and not break the bank.

I never said I was blaming Windstone for anything. I was simply making the observation that Windstone’s production has ramped up (GBs and otherwise) and it’s my guess that people are more interested in spending their limited funds on things done officially by Windstone rather than things painted unofficially by forum and non-forum painters.

And to be honest, the pre-painted PYOs that Windstone sold on eBay still sold (some for more than what forum members ask for) as opposed to forum member’s PYO pieces. -shrugs- But the people bidding on eBay aren’t necessarily the people on the forum. And it’s cool if they can get something officially painted by Windstone for cheaper than a normal production piece.

Personally, I also hope the PYO line doesn’t go anywhere. Most of my Windstone collection is made up of PYOs. I enjoy the opportunity to get a more complex paint scheme for a more affordable price.
