I just checked my email and found this note
Hi everybody! The male pearl griffin (previously auctioned as “albino pearl male griffin”) and the pearl female griffin will hit ebay at 2pm my time – TODAY! Both are $230 each – BIN…..but I can’t ship any til Thursday or Friday – when Melody’s back and I have signed letters of authenticity. I put up some more paint your own dragons and I will be listing more paint your own ki-rins as soon as I have pictures. There’s only gonna be 10 each of the ki-rins – with red eyes, orange eyes and green eyes….but you all know you can get them whenever and with whatever color eyes you want anyways….. Thanks! karen =^..^=
Don’t feel bad nirvanacat13 I don’t see the PYO dragons either under the sellers page, a regular windstone search or a windstone dragon search.
Okay one with green eyes just showed up here.
Red Eyes
Orange EyesOne thing you have to look at sometimes is pixel width of the images as well as the width in inches. That can make a big difference.
I used my program to resize them with the sizes approximately 690×922 pixels.

(I just broke down and bought photoshop again and I’m SOOOO much more comfortable!)
I’ve never tried Gimp as I’ve almost always had Photoshop ever since I worked at a Newspaper from 2000-2003. I can’t afford it though, my mom was nice and bought me a copy of Photoshop CS from the University she works at so she got it at a slightly better price.
I’ve heard mostly good things about Gimp, but what’s your take on it?
I know it’s a little hard to see but the thumbnail image is what the auction image looked like when I first saw it and asked about it.
The angles make it look like the dark green is black and the lighter green is almost “snot” colored.
Ah they’ve changed the photo now to one with better lighting. Before they had a funny close up of the Emperor’s face and tummy and it make the colors look odd.
Goodness No I didn’t draw it. Christy “Goldenwolf” Grandjean did. I couldn’t draw to save my life.
And the base coat isn’t blue it’s gray. 4 parts white and 1 part black. I tried adding a lot more white to the left over paint that was still usable and it’s a little lighter now, not much though.
Yeah I got some paint on the eye. I couldn’t find my masking tape before I started tonight and I wasn’t paying $8 for the smallest bottle of masking fluid if I’m only doing a few PYOs. I plan on gently scraping any paint off the eyes with a toothpick when I finish.
I’ve not gotten very far. Only did the base coat tonight and it turned out much darker than I wanted so I’ll probably try to lighten it somehow.

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b235/pegasi1978/windstone/grayback.jpgI’m trying to make it look similar to this painting, that’s why I say the base coat came out too dark.
Or does the color look off on this Green Emperor Dragon?
Was it just a bad camera angle making it look wierd?
And you have to love the seller in this auction saying “This beautiful piece is near mint, with just one tiny flea bite on the backside of his head”
Flea bite my butt, that poor dragon is missing several scales!

Another thing that would help in the publiching industry would be to print out hard copies of the thing you need to edit. I used to work at a newspaper on the copy desk (building and editing news pages) and I know we always caught more things when we were able to print the page/story out versus editing it on the screen.
One of the first things I always did when I got something was to run spell check, but spell check is only as smart as the person who entered the words. If you have to add a word to spell check you better make sure it is spelled right or it will change the word to the one the program thinks is correct every time.
sunhawk wrote:Thanks for pointing that out to me! OMG that’s a bit more than I can easily justify spending! LOL I emailed the seller to see what shipping to Canada would be like but I suspect it’ll be close to another 100 bucks and I’m not sure I can afford that @_@
No problem. I’m halfway on the look out for either one of the old griffins myself. Would probably prefer a black one. Just need to have the money ready for one when I see it.

You may want to check out this post littleironhorse just made.
I went to Dragon*Con (in Atlanta) back in 1998. I had a blast. Dragon*Con is a SciFi/Fantasy convention. I do remember meeting a few people in the dealer’s room that had some Windstones they were selling. In fact I still have a flier with an address on the back. Wonder if they are still a retailer.
*Goes to dig out flier and compare to list of current retaliers* Drats I guess The Dragon’s Lair of Andover, MA, stopped carrying them since then.
