Hey there! Windstones, manga, Legend of Zelda, shopping, drawing… yep, that’s a pretty complete checklist for a cool person πŸ˜€ Looks like we’ve got a lot in common! I’ll look forward to talking with you around here!

Thanks for the advice! I’ll try that.

Yep! For that reason it is the best dorm around. That, and it’s the only dorm that’s exclusively female, so it’s kind of like one big slumber party πŸ™„

Heh, and one of the senior girl’s boyfriends has a tiny itty-bitty little Yorkie dog that the squirrels just love to drive into a tizzy when he brings it by. Poor dog, the squirrels are bigger than it is…

You know I just realized… a scant three days after I join this forum, Windstones appear! You guys are lucky! Now, if only one of those gorgeous black griffins would pop up out of nowhere… πŸ˜†

Meep! 😯 So those are really good buys… Now I’ve GOT to get them! Even if the cat is at regular price, who knows how long they’ll stay there?! *hyperventilating*

Who knows who else might be looking at/touching/feeling/plotting about my little owl and kitty and claw… (glances suspiciously about) I must save them! 8)

Mom will just have to get over this one way or another. I’ve been smuggling boxes into the house for months, she was bound to find out eventually. I’ll just offer her the cat as compensation πŸ˜€ She loves cats and sooner or later it will wind up in my room anyway…

Can I be the kangaroo? I’d want to be a bunny at the petting area, but I’ve seen what the little kids do to those poor, patient little things πŸ˜†

Oh, okay! I’m awful with computers in general, but my buddy from Squirrel Dorm has a digital camera and knows everything about posting pics. (changes her MySpace pic almost daily with semi-religious zeal…)
I’m sure I can talk her into helping me out if I pay her with Taco Bell πŸ˜€

Good idea with the squirrel feeders. Sadly none live at my house (in the middle of cornfields with no trees…) but my grandma’s got a bunch of them at her place. Grandpa’s rigged a bunch of little platforms in all the big trees that they attach corncobs to with woodscrews. That way the little boogers don’t take off with the whole thing, I guess. When the corn is gone they just unscrew the old cob and put on a new one.

This morning my wonderful mother sent me dashing across four lanes of traffic to get stamps from our quaint little post office while she did the grocery shopping. This was the first time I’d been in this post office since I was about ten years old, and I was surprised to see that they have collectibles for sale.

I think you know what happened…

At the back of the room was a little table with Windstones on it!!! There was the crouching cat candle lamp, the owl candle lamp, and the business card holder shaped like a clawed foot. No dragons or unicorns, but still… this is monumental for me, since I’ve never seen Windstones of any kind for sale in INDIANA, let alone my little corner of it πŸ˜†

So I’m wondering… what are these three worth so I’ll know whether or not to buy them and face the music for spending yet more money? The cat was marked at $30 or $35 (can’t remember which), the owl was $19.99, and the claw was $10. They all look mint to me, still with tags and not even dusty, and I looked them over pretty good. Does anyone know if that’s a good deal? (has no idea what list prices are and does not trust prices seen on eBay…)

Thanks in advance to anybody who knows anything!

The nuttier, the better! I will absolutely check out the squirrel threads πŸ˜€ I have two or three little buddies that live in the trees next to my best friend’s dorm. We’ve been feeding them sunflower seeds and goldfish crackers… it’s been very cold and snowy here lately and we felt for them, having to dig through a foot and a half of snow and ice to reach their buried food.

As to what kinds of squirrels live here on our lovely campus… there are lots of greys and quite a few browns, very much like the one in your avatar, mimitrek. They get along wonderfully, you see groups of both colors bouncing and wrestling and beating each other up all over the quad, like most squirrels do πŸ™„

Yet in a little town not half an hour from here, all the squirrels are black. No browns or greys at all. 😯 Yay for interesting gene distribution…

Oh… so *that’s* who Mr. John is! That’s a good thing to know. Thanks, DM. You’re helping me learn the ropes real quick πŸ˜€

mimitrek… 😯 squirrels!!! I love squirrels! I think the ten thousand or so that dwell on my college campus are planning a hostile takeover. The chipmunks are their spies and the hawks are the only things standing in their way at this point… I support them all the way! I’m sure things would go a lot smoother around here if the squirrels were in charge. Thanks for the welcome!

Hi there! Nice to meet another new member πŸ™‚

You painted the little spotted ki-rin that’s on eBay right now, didn’t you? I like his little spotty patterns. My first thought when I saw him was, “Wow! He’s camouflaged!” If he curled up in a patch of sun-dappled underbrush and covered his blue belly scales, he’d be almost impossible to see. You’d have to almost step on him before you saw him, and then he’d bounce away while you were still surprised! πŸ˜€ Like a baby deer almost. Ah, I love ki-rins…

    Anyways. Welcome again!

Aww! He’s like a kiwi! (and he does not scare me. nope, not one bit.)

    Heh, I’m glad I joined too! πŸ™‚

I just got an email back from a nice guy named John saying that they have looked into those latex molds and even bought a few, and hopefully they will be able to “take them out” and stop the blatant copying. Glad that they can do something about it; I didn’t know if they could, but I wanted to tell somebody just in case.

The idea of somebody making money off cheap copies of such beautiful art that other people worked hard on and put so much love and effort into steams me so bad! πŸ‘Ώ If I ever saw an obvious Windstone fake in person I’d probably spaz and smack somebody over the head with it… as long as it wasn’t too heavy. πŸ™„

That’s good. These little guys seem pretty tough 8) Once I dusted my guy off and touched up the paint chips, no one could tell where he was damaged if I didn’t point it out.

Certain people were trying to talk me out of bidding on him since he wasn’t mint, but now I’m very thankful I bought him anyway! I think we bonded while I was tidying him up… πŸ˜†

in reply to: A BIG Welcome to Megani-Chan #542541

    He-heh, oopsie. That wasn’t supposed to happen… πŸ˜†

Thanks again for all the welcomes! It’s great to meet everybody. To think, I might not have found this place at all if I hadn’t been trying to make sure a latex mold of a Windstone dragon on eBay was legal… good things come when you’re not even looking for them! πŸ˜€

I’ll be looking forward to chatting with you all in the future, about Windstones and other stuff. You seem like a pretty fun gang πŸ˜‰
