After paying so much for retired pieces, limited productions and custom jobs, the regular production pieces still seem like a bargain to me. 😆
I love that candle holder that looks like it came from a church. The ravens are cool, too. Wonderful collection. How long does it take you to dust? lol
Welcome to the Forum, mm. As others have said, this really is one of the nicest Internet communities. In the short time I have been here, I have seen lots of ideas, artwork, painting tips, opinions and items traded, with a minimum of squabbling or flaming. Anyone familiar with IRC can attest that it is rarely the case elsewhere. I was dismayed to see it going in another direction, so I spoke up. Yes, maybe I am soft-hearted and empathetic. I’ve been called worse, that’s for sure. lol Hopefully, you can “move on” and become part of the group – there is a great amount of good here to be shared.
Mine arrived today, too. They are awesome! I love the tail jewelry on the female! 😀 I have just enough room in front of them for the chicks. I need a bigger house. lol
Sending good thoughts to you and your son…
Thanks for the “heads up”!

The “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything” rule shouldn’t apply to art critique! If you’ve drawn or painted or otherwise created something and it’s hideous, people should TELL you. If everyone just goes “Oh, it’s lovely” you’re going to someday embarrass yourself hugely, because you think your work is wonderful, when it’s NOT. Trying to be nice to somebody when they’ve painted a monstrosity is not doing them any favors.
That thing is ugly. It has a few redeeming features, and if I was giving the artist a critique, I would make a point of pointing out the good stuff, because it is nice to do so. But somebody needs to mention the bad stuff to, so you can LEARN how to improve! If nobody tells you what you’re doing wrong, how are you going to fix it?
I took an art course once, and I had a teacher that actually TOLD us what we were doing wrong, and I can tell you even though all my classmates HATED him, that was the best course I’ve ever taken, I learned more than I ever had from all the courses where the teacher tried to be nice to us.
(So you guys know – if I say I love your work, that means I really do love it! I don’t believe in sugar coating my opinions at all.)
And if you’re so very tender hearted that you can’t bear to hear about the faults in your work, then maybe you should just keep your work to yourself, and not show it in public. And certainly not sell it!
I agree, but so far only Water has given any constructive criticism.
I was actually referring to the comments on the paint job. Maybe they just did the best that they could painting-wise. As for the shipping costs – they must already know what people think of them by the feedback they have received. They can adjust the shipping costs if they want to, but the talent is another story. *shrugs* Just my 2 cents.
Maybe it’s just me, but isn’t this thread a bit harsh? The person might be a member or guest and if it was me, it would really hurt my feelings to hear people saying that kind of stuff. They must have thought their work was good enough to sell on eBay.
It ended at $25.49 no reserve. I guess they refused to sell at that price? I was wondering about it myself…

Note: This is one that was mentioned in another thread and I had bookmarked. I haven’t contacted them or anything…
W0W!!! I see some rearranging in my future, too. Cool to see the comparison pix, thanks.
I guess the one near us is an “authorized rip-off store”. lol Oh well, live and learn. This Forum can be very educational, as well as entertaining. ; -)
mimitrek wrote:Are the UPS stores that you’ve been going to “authorized shipping outlets” or are they actually “UPS customer centers”?
The latter always charge exactly what’s quoted on the UPS website, but the former charge rip-off rates that vary from place to place (at least that’s what I’ve noticed in my area).
That’s interesting info, Mimi. My husband has gotten into a few arguments with the UPS Store over rates. They were never what was quoted on the website and they kept telling him he was doing something wrong. Heh! He lost money on his auctions that way, too.

Oh, I just love pugs – they are sooo adorable! Where did the name Zirasa come from?
