Right now the challenge we have with voting is that we can either let you vote for as many as you want (so you could conceivably vote for all 15!) or for just one. There’s no “pick 3 favorites” option. 🙂
Since we need to end up with a winner, the “just one vote” has been working relatively well as a way to get to that point as well. 🙂
But, if everyone would like more votes, maybe we can get the voting mechanism adjusted to allow 2-3 or something! 🙂
I think next time I will do a longer submission period – I think just having it for 2 weeks snuck up on a lot of folks! 🙂
Depending on the field, a degree is still important. Not so much for the knowledge you do or don’t have as a result (though in some fields the education itself is valuable), but because a lot of companies won’t even pass your resume on to a hiring manager if you don’t have a degree.
Almost all companies that have 50 or more employees (and that want ‘professional’ level skills versus minimum-wage earners) use some type of recruiter to help them pre-sort applications and “has degree” is a very common sorting criteria. Some companies won’t even allow you to refer a friend if they don’t have a degree.
It’s not ALWAYS important, but unfortunately just the line on your resume can make or break your career in some cases. 🙁
When I check this site on my mom’s cell phone and click on community, it doesn’t drop down the menu to select classifieds or anything but just automatically loads the forum so not sure if anyone else has this problem or if it’s just the phone we’ve been using?

The last batch wasn’t half – it was just a small group that was held back in case of any issues.

I took a look at the home page – it already has code on it to display separate style-sheets for browser type. In theory (and this is theory – I don’t know Drupal!) you might be able to add an additional if/then detection for mobile browsers and display a very simple “text” site map so that links can be accessed. I have noticed the drop downs don’t really work in mobile browsers.
That would be a moderately annoying fix as it would require going back to the home page if people wanted to navigate to any non-top-level links (so anything in the drop downs), but it would at least give them SOME way to access things. I think you could do this completely outside of Drupal to avoid needing to figure out how to install the mobile module.

I’ve sent my entry photo in, however, I think the yahoo email might have sent the same email twice within a minute’s time.
I just want to make sure that you know I haven’t submitted two entries – it’s the same exact email and photo. I wouldn’t want to be disqualified for appearing like I’ve sent more than one entry.I don’t think it came through twice, but I’ve been too busy to poke at Ayonah’s emails today. 🙂
