Yeah, I’d ask her to be more specific.
I agree!!!
What you did was hysterical and sometimes I tell the people who come to the door wanting to give me a different religion, that “No thanks, I am a Satanist!” just to watch them run down my sidewalk.
π π πI have two takes on the kids going door to door….
Yes, it is aggravating to have kids knocking, and if they are not respectful, I have no problem with them sending them on their way.
In my personal experience, I haven’t found that most of the kids in my area act snotty. Most of the kids here are respectful. I live in South Louisiana. So kids here are usually taught to be polite. It is also very warm here.
So my second take is that, when a kid shows up all sweaty on the doorstep and they are selling cards, candy, cookies, whatever, and they are polite, I give them some money. I figure that walking door to door in 90 degree temps at 80% humidity is actually more strenuous than my job.
So in a way, I figure they are working. If they are out pounding pavement, they are doing something to contribute to their sports program, girl scout group or educational fund.
Unfortunately, most of the items they sell, actually provide very little money in the end. Most of these sale items are very bad fundraisers and the school or group gets a very small percent. The profits are eaten up with products, advertising and fees.
I would much rather donate my money to organizations who don’t give me free stuff and who spend little on advertising. You should all ask how much of the proceeds of whatever group actually go to the charity to help others.
I would highly recommend Heifer International http://www.heifer.org/site/c.edJRKQNiFiG/b.201470/ they have some great projects and great ethics.
Just my two cents…and by the way…I paid for all of my 7 years of undergrad and grad school myself, with no loans and I worked full time. So, I don’t think any young person should be handed and education. The thing that makes you do better in school and life, is doing it for yourself and sacraficing. I think it made me a better person.
Cool, good for you! Starlings are neat birds! Great that you rescued it!

Once it got past $400 I figured I would hope there is a number 2. The person really wanted it, I went to $450 and decided to quit.

The Kinglet is my favorite…in any color. He has that look like he is ploting something.
All the royal hatchers remind me of Pern dragons on the hatching ground, waiting to be “impressed” by their new rider.
I think that is why I have them all π
My absolute favorite for hidden things is the large wizard. If you don’t have one, they are a must buy, especially when one comes up on ebay for a good price.
They have so many details in the base. INCREDIBLE!! Hidden doors, bird nests, skulls, all sorts of neat stuff.
Mine is April 26th, looks like we have a lot of April birthdays here.
Mee tooo…I miss raising dragon babies!
Here are all of them together…
Really only the very delicate orchids like Masdevalias and Draculas need special conditions.
Most orchids thrive on what I call “benign neglect” Spritz them with a bit of water a few times a week and water and let them drain about once a week.
I used clay pots with open slits in the sides and a coarse bark, charcoal, pumice type mix….so the roots are well aerated.
I love orchids, I just couldn’t keep them…I was very sick when they were in the house…almost ended up in the hospital…..
Its funny, because I am not allergic to any animals.
I joined on facebook. Kaya
You must be cool and lots of humidity for that masdevalia…I used to have a homemade orchid case and I was doing draculas and a few masdevalias.
I liked the butterfly’s too, then I found out they were causing my asthma. I had all mine in the house, and I found out that I am highly allergic to pollen, plants, trees. I had to get rid of them.
Here is a Dracula Bella
And Dracula Cordobae
Wow, how neat π That is really cool.

That is exactly what I do. Right now I have 161. I had just updated for the hatchers when I read this.

I have some Twix if anyone wants one…and a nasty, fuzzy, obnoxious little Chewy cat sleeping on my leg…if anyone wants to hug her.
She’s adorable how can you say she’s nasty?! π Love the soft paws π
If you lived with her you would understand. I have 10 dogs and 3 cats and she is THE Dominant animal of the house. She can be a nasty little tryanical monster. I am using Ceasar Milan methods with her, because she was trying to be the pack leader…it is actually working because she thinks she is a dog.
She is a character…never had a cat that acted like such a dog. π I love her dearly π
