  • in reply to: PYO painters custom commission rates and info! #535549

Ahh, yes, I’ll go ahead and throw my hat in now too. I’m currently laid off for at least the next month, possibly indefinately, 😮 so I’ve plenty of time on my hands for the moment. 🙂

Please take a look at my past PYOs and if you like what you see let me know. (I know I’ve only got a handful, but that’s just because I don’t have the money to spend on the sculpts right now!). I think I do very well with the blending and shading (take a peek at my flying wolf photo- the wings especially!). I am currently offering commissions on Unicorns, Muses, or Keeper dragons at great rates- I need a finished photo of each for my website!

I’m always up for new adventures.

Artist Name: Andrea / Keeproftheflocks / TheCopperDragon2004 (on ebay)

Artist Contact Info: Send me a message through the boards here, or email at Andreaspuppets@aol.com.

    PYO Painting Rates
I generally charge a base rate for each statue, the ranges listed are from the “simple” paints to the “hard” range. “Crazy hard” paint jobs may be a bit higher, but I like to keep my prices down to encourage commissions. Feel free to send me your idea and get a quote anytime!

(Prices below include cost of statue and the paint job. If you have your own statue, deduct current statue price from quote).

Unicorn $60-90 Currently $50 for any hardness of painting style, including dapples! First two commissions only! (subtract $37 if supplying statue)
Muses $45-60 Currently $35 for any hardness of painting style. First commission only! (subtract $25 if supplying statue)
Keeper Dragon $75-150 Currently $75 for any hardness of painting style. First two commissions only! (subtract $40 if supplying statue)
Griffin $70-100 (subtract $30 if supplying statue)
Kirin $60-80 (subtract $35 if supplying statue)
Dragon (small) $60-100 (subtract $30 if supplying statue)
Wolf $50-80 (subtract $30 if supplying statue)

Type(s) of paint/materials used: I use mostly acrylics and interference paints, but am great at making them look like watercolor effects and soft shading with the acrylics. I’m up to adding necklaces and bits onto your sculpts if desired (stones, new custom eyes, glitter, ext). I just charge cost of whatever additions I add.

    Are pet portraits offered: Yes
Shipping method: Double boxed in original Windstone box, with bubblewrap. I usually use Priority but it’s always up to the customer.
Shipping rates/insurance: Smaller PYOS can mail Priority Mail for about $8, Keepers & Griffens are a little more. Insurance (and delivery confirmation/signature confirmation) are optional, but I would recommend at least insurance in case the post office manhandles your statue. None have arrived broken yet! 🙂
Ships to: Wherever. I’ve shipped International lots of times, shipping costs are up to customer.
Artist location: Indiana, zip code 46514

in reply to: "Juno" PYO wolf on ebay #750517

Just discovered the flea market section of the board. 🙂

Here is Juno, my first wolf PYO ever. I was a little afraid to paint him, but I finally did and I love him. I would have kept him for myself but I’m unemployed at the moment and need the money, so he had to go on ebay. As of this moment (Jan 30th), he’s got four days left. I started him at $75. I have more pictures on the ebay page.

    Here’s his link:

“Juno” is my first wolf I’ve done, and has been waiting patiently for me to paint him. (For over a year he’s been sitting in my craft room waiting on me!)

He is a husky cross with a Northern Harrier hawk coloring on the wings. He took about.. *thinking*.. twelve hours of painting, and there is a million layers of wash on him so the coloring is well blended and gradually fades, especially in his fur. I’m very pleased with how he turned out.

I harrassed my sister to let me borrow her camera, so we’ve got much better pictures now. (See above) As much as I would love to keep him, I just can’t afford it right now, so he’s now listed on ebay:

(There’s more pictures of him there too!)

in reply to: So when will the PYO's be back for sale? #749693

Ok, I’m dreadfully behind on the news around here, but did i understand that the PYO’s are currently not being sold? I read about the big move.. but that was in June right? Can I order them now? I couldn’t find any blank ones on ebay either. 🙁

Someone please help this poor confused birdie. 😕

Ok, what kind of glue to I use to put her eyes in again?
She insisted that muses and baths don’t go together. I said that we needed to get some paint off of her. She put up quite a struggle, but I overpowered her and gave her the bath anyway…..now she wont talk to me. 🙁

Help me so she’ll forgive me!!

Aww, the photo’s gone. I wanted to see. Sounds funny.

I just use the really thick white craft glue that comes in the brown-gold colored bottle. About a drop’s worth spread around on the statue surface, press the eye in, and wipe down any glue that poufs out the corners before it dries. Works like a charm.

Hey keepr, haven’t seen you around for a while. nice to see you’re still painting.

Thanks for all the nice words guys. Yeah, I haven’t been on much at all in the last year. I left my cheating husband and moved 700+ miles to be near my family, and have since moved two more times (finally in a great little house, have my own studio room now!), so hopefully I’ll be around more now. 🙂

I can’t wait to get a keeper dragon to paint. 😀

in reply to: "Sherbert" dragon on ebay #749250

This is my fourth PYO dragon, I’ve named her Sherbert- she’s a pretty blend of pink, peach, orange sherbert, and pale yellow was the base color. I’ve listed her on ebay and am including a free freshwater pearl if she sells above $50. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=230320032265&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=013

I thought I had lost my photos of an older peach and turquoise colored dragon I had painted a while back, so I wanted to make a similar colored one to put on my website. I try to never duplicate things, so I wanted her different enough to be her own dragon. She is a much more “girly” dragon than I usually make, but I’m very happy with her. She’s a bright little personality of her own.

    I got my swap!

*Phew!* I was getting worried for a while.. From the sounds of things I’m not the only one who was cutting it close to the deadline.

My pics didn’t turn out too well for some reason, maybe Keplilly can get some to turn out better.

OMG! I LOVE those books- have you read them all yet? I’m having a tattoo done based on them; originally it was to be a full back tat, but now may be a partial back tat (not sure if I’m allergic to the red ink we used). It’s about 1/3 done right now; across the lower section of my back I have his two guns in black & white, crossed, hammers back, and a half-open red & green rose between them. If I’m not allergic to the red, I’ll have a field of red roses put across the lower section of my back, and I want to do the backside of Roland walking to the Tower above that. If I turn out to be allergic after all, then I’ll just finish it in black and white, and let the one rose stand out in red.

*loves Oy* I would love to make a little sculpture of him… *sigh*

That’s great! Congrats! Just tell him you crave windstones instead of pickles and icecream!

Oooh! *raises hand* I’ll be happy to let you know what I think, let me know what they asked for. You’re probably fine; I’m paranoid about the one I’m painting too- have no idea if they’ll like it or not. I hope they like it.

Here is the griffon I did for Leader of the Flocks. Kyrin

*runs to the forum* I’m finally here! Yes, sorry again for not posting (didnt mean to scare you!); I’m just a bit daft at times, didn’t realize we were supposed to post right away… 😆

But I got him, and he arrived safe and sound, and he’s gorgeous! He’s officially my FIRST Windstone piece (woot!); I have a few PYO’s, but none I’ve kept yet for myself. I’ve wanted to buy the assorted Windstones for years, but alas, too broke.

But yes, I asked for a “typical” griffen in brown shades (and maybe asked for some bird coloring too? I forget); He’s darker in person than her photos show, and there’s really great drybrushing done to bring out the feather textures. I do a lot of crafting with feathers and I love birds, so it seemed like a natural pick. He’s gorgeous Kyrin, thank you again! I need to find a redshoulder hawk photo to post now..

Kyrin- I forget if I asked, but did you paint him by hand with a brush, or is he partially airbrushed? Just curious. 😀

she’s very pretty. I’d actually emailed one of the mods about a month ago wanting to do a similar thing with adding some wings I’ve been making, and she said we couldn’t sell them that way, because Pena’s artistic rights start to be blurred with our work, and it’s all a legal mess. (of course, we can keep them for ourselves that way)

so we can’t sell them, is what I understood? Any mods know the legal mumbojumbo well enough to answer for certain?

Pity she didn’t sell. she’s pretty, just SUPER BRIGHT!! Where do you get the blacklight paint? neat idea, maybe tone it down a bit on the next one?

in reply to: Tropical Fish Kirin-FINISHED #542322

Ha! I have that garfield glass in the background of the first photo! (Dont ask why I saw that, I guess i’m just nosey?)

Looks good so far. I’ll keep an eye to see him when he’s got his stripes. Will you do any interference on him? Well, I guess those fish really aren’t shiney like some..
