Sadly, I will have to pass on the new version. I will have to make a wanted ad for one of the first-runs. The new ones look too naked in comparison, especially without the black around the eye 🙁

I have seen solutions at the craft stores for cleaning brushes.. but was thinking thats a waste of money? And are there any particular brands of brushes I should aim for?
I just use good ole soap and water 🙂 I have a cup of water with me to wash my brushes as I am painting, but as far as the end of the day cleanup, I just take mine to the sink and gently wash them with a little bit of soap and water. Works for me!

I don’t actually use any type of medium in my paints, I only use the retarder, but I did look up the GAC 100 medium to see what others have written about it. I didn’t see anything about the medium changing the color of the paint, but I did see someone mention that you can dilute the GAC 100 itself with water – here’s a quote from the review on Dick Blick: “GAC 100 can be thinned 50% down with distilled water without loss of dependable quality of product coming from Golden Acrylic.” – maybe you can try thinning the GAC itself before using it in the paint, and therefore be using less of the GAC? Perhaps this would avoid some of the diluting issue you are seeing!
Sorry I can’t add my personal experience to this! I tend to use thinner paints to begin with, so I use about a quarter of the amount of paint I have in retarder, and that’s always been thin enough for me – if I need it thinner, I add a little bit of water. Here’s hoping that you’re successful in your PYO endeavors! 🙂

Please visit My Webpage to see my art and PYO's that I've done in the past! Thanks for the tips on antiquing! I just tried it on the wings of my last pyo but I used black to contrast the orange and when I went to wipe it off, it would just run all over and not stay well so I ended up redoing it a few times and found I had to let it dry 2-4 min before wiping it off but maybe that’s just because it’s hard for the paint to stick in the little grooves in the wings. I ended up using Q-tips to get around the small scales of the wings which was good but I didn’t seal mine first. That was a big mistake because it took some of the base coat of paint right off when I wiped it so I had to re-paint the wings a couple times. Now I know what to do in the future! I will have to order more pyos when I am able to but in the meantime I love seeing pics of the creativity of everyone else! Have you done a lot of pyos for your boyfriend? Does he like them a lot? I was thinking of doing one for a male friend of mine but I am not sure if he would like it or ‘get’ how cool they are.
If you were trying to antique a small dragon’s wings – they are very hard to antique darkly! I have always had trouble with them. The antique tends to stick mostly to the upper part of the wing, but looks spotty in the long run so I generally avoid trying to antique them unless the scheme absolutely requires it! There are definitely certain pieces that are a lot easier to antique than others – I think the Keeper in general takes antiquing really well, maybe with the exception of his lower belly, and that’s usually not in the field of view most of the time so it doesn’t bother me 🙂 And even that part is easier to antique than a small dragon’s wings!
I have done a few PYOs for my boyfriend 🙂 Maleficent was a Christmas present for him last year, Bruce (one of the first Keepers in this thread) was the first PYO I ever made for him, “Moss” the Kitty Griffin was his birthday present this year, and lastly I did a repaint for him, which turned out to be my favorite piece ever done! So yeah, he has 4 of them now, 5 if you include Sunset, though he technically commissioned me for that one so he could give it as a gift to one of his family members XD I’m turning him into a mini collector!
@Kay – Hah! Of course 😉 great minds, right? And thank you!

Adaneth – he does love it! Now here’s hoping that the family member that he is giving it to loves it just as much 🙂 I won’t know til Christmas! Eep!
Cel – no problem at all! XD I’m always happy to explain how I do things on my PYO pieces 🙂

Please visit My Webpage to see my art and PYO's that I've done in the past!Thank you so much Etruscan, Ela Hara, and Cel! 😀 I did worry halfway through that it was very similar to the Amethyst coloring, but after looking again I think mine is much more purple and has less blue/orange 🙂 Though it did cross my mind!
That’s so pretty! I love the sunset colours and the added details of the sun, stars and swirlies on the horns! Great job! Your antiquing looks really good on all your dragons and I only have a tiny bit of experience trying to antique anything so how do you do it? Do you seal the dragon first and then antique? Do you just use darker shades of each colour to antique all or some of the colours or do you sometimes just use one colour to antique everything? How long do you let it dry and what do you wipe it off with?
Thanks Kim!
For antiquing, I most often just use a darker shade of the base color – for the pinks and purples I just kept the leftover hues and added a touch of black or blue or red (or all three) to get a darker version of the color.
I tend to add more retarder to thin it out a bit more and make sure that it doesn’t dry right away when I start antiquing. And yes – I do spray the dragon before antiquing! It makes it much safer to do given that you have to actively wipe the dragon down to antique properly!
I use a couple of Bounty paper towels – I cut them into small pieces and take 5 or 6 at a time and dip them in water to wet them – wring them out so they are not dripping, just damp.
Once I spread some antiquing color on the dragon, I pretty much immediately gently wipe that area with a damp towel piece, using as much of the piece as I can. Then, I take a second piece and wipe again – this is just to make sure that I got all of the color off of the areas I don’t want it! You don’t have to scrub very hard, but sometimes you have to use a finger to push the towel into the smaller spaces.
I was thinking about doing a tutorial the other day on some of my techniques but that would require mastery of my camera and some way to set it up so it looks over my shoulder! I’d love to do something in the future in any case 🙂Commission spots are currently closed! Please message me for details.
Please visit My Webpage to see my art and PYO's that I've done in the past!My boyfriend commissioned me to paint him a Keeper in a sunset theme, and voila! Sunset.
I am particularly proud of her wings and horns. She has lots of interference on her in pearl, blue, and purple. She has metallic periwinkle eyes and will eventually hold a moon in her upraised paw. These pictures unfortunately do not really show her true colors – for some reason my camera has a very hard time taking true color pictures of purples next to each other, so it interprets the bluer purple as pretty much blue! In person, the blue seen in these photos is more of an ultraviolet purple color. Furthermore, the “black” in the photos is navy blue. XD I just can’t win!

Please visit My Webpage to see my art and PYO's that I've done in the past! You could follow through with the dispute if you are willing to go that route. Chances are good that if the buyer is only complaining about the box color, ebay is not going to refund them and go after you for the money.
You can also dispute the negative feedback – in some cases I have been contacted by ebay with a request by the seller to change the feedback. However, as the buyer you do have the choice in that case to not change the negative feedback. I’ve never been forced to change feedback, but I’ve never been involved in a case where it was clear I was a buyer asking for more than their due.
The issue with your friend now having paid for the same item only complicates matters. I think if I were you, I would contact him and let him know what is going on. Give him the option to pull out of the deal, or wait around and see if this other buyer gets her wits about her finally. Having that money tied up in an item that you don’t have and don’t yet know the fate of though.. that’s tough.
The whole thing seems pretty convoluted and I’m sorry you’re getting hammered by someone who seems like they are just out to “get” people, which is pretty low of them.
At the end of the day, I believe that ebay will side with you if you can prove that the item was received as described in the ad. If you had nothing in there about the box, it should not be held against you. Sadly, ebay very often sides with buyers when there is a discrepancy that isn’t entirely clear, so there’s always the chance that you’ll just be out of luck – I really hope it’s not the case for you though. Good luck, Kim!!

That’s what it looks like on mine.. Maybe my browser/pc? Who knows, you know how tech works for me, lol!Foxes would certainly be a small directory! I just love seeing all the gb’s! I sit and drool and dream of my perfect collection, it’s sort of awful, lol! But it is up to you, maybe too few would show up to be worth it?
We’ll see about the Foxes – I haven’t gotten many images for the colts yet, and they were fairly popular! If I can’t get a sufficient amount for them, it may not be worth it. But I’ll see in any case 🙂
Thats really weird the signature is doing that ><

The thing that people get mixed up on a lot is the ownership of a photo. I can take a picture of your unicorn and I still own the photo and have the right to give permissions on it – if you did not take the photo, it’s not yours! The subject matter has very little to do with photo ownership rights 🙂
Siri – For sure! Send him along and I’ll star him in my gmail inbox if I can’t get to him right away. If you still don’t see him up in the gallery in a month, poke me and I’ll get on it 🙂

Please visit My Webpage to see my art and PYO's that I've done in the past!Looking forward to seeing these! I don’t think the photos I have of the colt I had from the first batch is very good, but I’ll look it up and double check…
I am looking forward to seeing them all in one place (I just like to stare and drool, lol!) – If I miss it, let me know if you do one for foxes 🙂 I’ll send a photo of mine to ya 😀PS. Might just be my pc being obnoxious? but the photo of the dragon on your signature line is glitched out?
What’s it doing? It looks fine on my screen, but it could be the browser I am using is fixing whatever I screwed up automatically too.
I am not sure if I am doing a Fox directory or not – I didn’t get my hands on one so I am naturally less inclined to >< does that sound terrible?
I'd be fine doing one too! It would just likely take a bit to get it all together 🙂Commission spots are currently closed! Please message me for details.
