Earthquakes make me sick, they throw off my equilibrium and I get nauseus. Obviously, I don’t like them much, especially if I’m not sitting down. I have lived in California all my life and one of my earliest memories is getting up in the middle of the night and finding both my parents in the doorway of our house being very quiet and listening to the dishes rattle hard. I think I must have about 4 and I think they were trying to decide whether to get me and my two brothers ages 3 and 1 up and out, or just wait. The memory is like a tableau, so I’m pretty sure they just waited it out. Since then, there have been many earthquakes, but we were always taught in school what to do like I’m sure you in the Midwest are trained in tornados. The worst one in recent memory was in 1989 in San Francisco that collapsed the freeway. I live in Chico about 5 hours north and it rattled the chandelier, sloshed the water out of the pool, and left cracks in the brick and tile work. But most of them are too mild to feel and if we feel them at all, they are few and far between. There is a story about a preacher in California who was very afraid of earthquakes so he packed up his “flock” and moved to Kansas for safety and got hit by a tornado! The major danger in California is not the earthquakes, it’s the fires. We have major fires every year, compared to far fewer major earthquakes. We lose $billions in fire damage, and in human and animal lives lost than in earthquake damage. Occasionally the earthquakes cause the fires, but more often it’s lightning, downed power lines, accidental, or even arson. But we get them every year. I’ve worked on them as a social worker and they are unbelievable. The damage is breathtaking, like the flood in New Orleans is breathtaking in the same horrible way, and the trees can’t run. The animals panic and the ones that survive often come out with burnt paws and fur, one man brought out 50 emaciated feral cats!
(sorry, I went a long way from earthquakes!) I guess I just wanted to say that California isn’t all that many earthquakes! Of course I say that today and a big one will hit tomorrow and I will be a bf liar! 😆

I missed them too! 😥 *hands scrabbling madly* I hope we don’t have to wait too long for the next batch! Even if they are a different color, better than thin air! 🙄

in reply to: Overall luck with eBay–good, bad, or…? #689397

I’ve bought a lot of Windstones from ebay and have had only one damaged piece.*crossed fingers* The seller was inexperienced and apparently thought that if it was insured, it didn’t matter how it was packed! So he was very surprised when the P.O. refused to pay the claim because of the bad packing and then stopped communicating with me. I had paid by paypal, so I was able to file a claim and dispute which I won and then was also able to keep the piece.(Seller is no longer a seller!) Other than that, my experience has been very positive. But one seller took over a month to ship an emperor because he was traveling for his job all over the US and Canada. I wasn’t happy about that, but at least he kept communicating.

I guess I would “choose” the curls and all the orientals, regular and suns, and then the OW’s, laps, males, and sitting spectrals. I love those eyes! I would love one SK like the one on Ebay now, but the chances of ever getting one are so slim! Maybe if I sold half my collection 🙁 and stopped buying any more 😥 and stopped noticing all the ways of completing my wish lists 😥 😥 and stopped coming on the forum to help break my addiction,— 😥 😥 😥 —Nope, looks like I am not going to get an SK!! But I can always dream! 😆

    in reply to: Dragonscavern #687763

This is not an emergency, but it is time-sensitive.
I urgently need to reach Dragonscavern regarding some dragons that were shipped to her and I have been unable to contact her by any means since March 28. Any help or information would be appreciated. Thank you.

in reply to: 3 am Wakeup call (RANT) #687487

Sounds like someone needs to make an anonymous call to children’s services as well. Kids shouldn’t be in that situation either, with all the filth and neglect. Not that it sounds like it would do much good, but maybe it would put them on notice, y’think? Maybe?

I’m not into horses and even I think he’s a real cutie! If he just disappeared to a nice animal home for displaced horses several counties away during one of those four days of missing owners and you “just have no idea what happened, is he missing?” *batting eyes*…
