Na, wait until he gets back to me about the felt pad. IF it’s real, I want it 😆
I posted in the knockoff thread too, but he said he thinks it’s a cast. So, either he doesn’t know how spot painted over eyes or it’s a fake. I have asked him if it has a felt pad on the bottom, no reply yet, but that will tell for sure…

Nope, it’s a fake. He said he thinks it’s a cast. I asked if it had the eyes or were they just painted over and he replied that no, it does not have eyes?? I then asked if it had a felt pad on the bottom, no answer yet. I’ll post when he answers…

One of our Dals had a brain tumor. She had seizures for years before we finally lost her. They were sporadic and usually came in clusters, but they were *more or less* controlled by potassium bromide and a low dose of phenobarbital. So you may yet have some time left. Did the vet prescribe anything for the seizures? No, not yet. Delilah is between 10-11 maybe. maybe older. We got her 2 1/2 years ago from a rescue. Thanks for all the well wishes everyone!
We need some hugs. We are pretty sure, like 99.9% sure she has a brain tumor. She had a seizure last night. We went to the vets this morning and she is pretty sure(can’t be 100% w/o an MRI) that it’s a tumor. She said that most are benign and slow growing, so my fingers are crossed that we still have good times ahead. But, I am really sad. No one else is home, so they don’t know yet.
And the kicker is it’s our anniversary today, 10 years…
My folks have a collie and she barks non stop. And I mean non stop. She has gotten them kicked out of camp grounds! But, it’s not her fault, it’s thiers, they ‘let’ her do it by thinking it’s just the breed. I don’t mind some barking, when it’s warranted, but good lord, that dog of thiers gets on my nerves! 🙄
LOL! I haven’t heard Delilah bark for probably a month and a half! When she does bark, she scares the heck out of me!! 😆
Excellent advice, exactly what I was looking for! FYI, kids are almost 7 and almost 5, both very dog savvy. I’m still leaning to the mastiff, I just can’t get them out of my heart…but, I’m thinkng about looking into a sheltie too. I know some collies can be talky(aka barky), but I think training can go a long way to taking care of that.
Shedding and craters I’m used too, Delilah can dig a hole to china in 5 seconds flat…and we have hair bunnies scamper across the floor daily. I wouldn’t mind getting away from the shedding, but it’s not a deal breaker if I find the right dog.
I am checking the spca site daily, and have joind a mastiff forum to get farmilar w/ breeders.
Thanks again, and I’m glad to know about the boxer vs. cat issues. I’d hate to have one of my kitties hurt!!
Goodness, I did not realize this would spark so much response! Purebred vs. mixed, I don’t give a darn! I have NO intention of showing or breeding. Nor will I spend upwards of $1500+ on an animal. But I think there is merit getting a dog that has good lines….how is that for speaking out both sides of my mouth?? 😆
Hey Ski, yah, I’m sorry I’m not in Hawaii too!! 😆
She is fine so far. I’m guessing it was a bee. I’ll continue to keep an eye on her tho!!
I’m all for mixed breeds or mutts as we call em here, but I feel it can be a gamble….I just can’t make up my mind what I want. I do those breed selector quizzes and come up with anything from a border terrier to an anatolian. I did just inquire about a chocolate lab tho, she looks very sweet and is in rescue….Mini aussies catch my eye too, active but not too big, but we have cats…boxers catch my eye too, biggish goofy and great with kids(my folks have a white male and I LOVE LOVE LOVE him)….then I go back to mastiffs because they have such personalities, are great with kids and are protective….*sigh*
She just came in from laying in the yard(one of her favorite pass times) and half of her head is swollen. It is probably the size of a baseball, just not as tall. It doesn’t hurt her and doesn’t seem to have a center, plus it’s in pretty deep fur. COuld a bee even get to her skin there? It’s on the right hand side and top of her head, down to her ear and about an inch or so above her eye.
What do you think, bee? Ant? We are in NH, so atleast it’s probably nothing poisonus. She is breathing fine, acting fine….
*hugs* I’ll be thinking of you both!
I will, thanks! I’m in NH…
Thanks guys! from all the reading I have done, I totally get why going to reputable breeder is important!! I’m still really stuck on a mastiff and unfortunatly, good puppies are just too much money for 1. my budget and 2. my conscience. Rescue is probably the way we will go. Tomorrow morning I have to drive by the SPCA again, so I will stop in to see what/who they have….
I did, they didn’t have very many. Mostly boy dogs that either weren’t good with cats or only with older kids. They had one adorable little girl, but she was adopted already. I plan on going back next week….
