Thanks guys! I figured it out tho, got to be gentle!! Following the iunstructions helps too! I;ve already gone thru 2 20gram bags of silver, gotta get more!
I think you should absolutely talk to UPS! I had a TV that got broken, kept the TV and got my insurance $$.
There is a thread back a few days that talks about fixing these guys. I have one that was in a bunch of peices too. Iglued him together using Elmer’s White Glue and it worked great. I am now in the process of making molds of good areas from polymer clay to help with constructing the areas that didn;t have stuff to glue back on. It is working pretty well. I’m using veggie oil on the griff to prevent the poly clay from sticking, and again on the inside of the polyclay after it has been baked and cooled.
Let us know how you make out!

I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t make one yourself tho, I’m just too busy. I have a jewelry website so I needed something to help my photography skills….
Did I even spell that right? What happened to the days when ferrets were exotics? 😆
I like those!! What a great way to enhance the cross stitch!! Great work, and what a wonderful gift!
The thing is that they weren’t even being very disruptive…I just can’t stand pretensious snooty bags that show any dislike towards my kids. It’s poor manners and it pisses me off. My kids are very good and anyone would have been impatient standing in the same aisle for 40 minutes while I looked at brushes and paints….I’m really protective, can you tell? 😆
I’m gonna sit down with the griff tonight after hubby gets home and there are no interuptions. I just have to remember to take my time…no pressure.
I find people don’t want to pay what an afghan is worth. I have tried selling some with no luck. However, folks will buy ponchos and scarves like crazy at a nice craft fair. That booth price doesn’t sound bad by the way….I usually pay between $100 & $350 depending on how many days the show is.
Oh boy, was that a trip….I could tell my kids weren’t being perfect because the “artist” in the paint & brush aisle was rolling her eyes….b**ch 👿 ! I HATE that, it makes me so angry….*taking deep breath* I’m sitting here now with my dry hard clay, lovely paint brushes, and some golden fluid acrylics…got me some golden retarder and some deco antiqueing stuff. So I’m all set to fix my griff and start my wolf….
I’m guessing I just stick this clay on, try to blend in the textures with some tools?? I was thinking about trying to make a mold from one of the good claws from polyclay to use for the missing toe&claw. Maybe use 2 peices of polyclay, some veggie oil so nothing sticks. has anyone had any success with this?
I’m gonna go out and get paint this afternoon I think. It’s finally warm enough that the kids won’t get frost bite 😆 We still have ice all over everything, and it’s sunny, so it’s beautiful outside!! I haven’t ever seen this much ice, no wind either so it’s sticking around…
I’m glad you think so! I was worried I didn’t do a very good job, but it was the best I could get it without causing more problems….
Here is one more pic of the other side of him…
Here he is….if picture trail will cooperate….
from the front he’s not too bad.
From the side, you can plainly tell. I just could not get the edges to come together, there was a lot of chipping along the lines while he was in storage.
And I didn’t have as many pieces as I thought.
So, as a “collectible” he’s worthless, but he means alot to me, even if he isn’t perfect.
Oh, I LOVE counted cross stitch! It was the first “craft” I learned to do. I was young too, maybe 6 or 7. I’m working on a Mirabilia right now that’ll take me another year to finish probably. I’ve done quite afew Lavender & Lace patterns and the outcome is beautiful. I think her stuff is the Windstone of the needle working world….
January 18, 2007 at 1:42 pm in reply to: tips for photographing pieces?? (EDIT: some better photos!) #528911I would recommend getting a “portable photo studio”. I picked mine up on ebay for $50, but you canget them at camera shops for around $100. I would also recommend getting an adjustable tripod that goes from floor length to table.
When I am doing close ups I use the macro mode, no zoom. Otherwise I use the A setting alot. I also use the automatic “click” setting. For me, the tripod and the auto click thing have the biggest improvement in my pics.
A while ago we tested cameras. We looked at, bought, and took pics with Sony H2, Canon S3, Lumix F7. The canon had the best far away shots, but the sony blew the canon away for close ups & action shots. Since I mostly take close ups & pics of the kids we kept the Sony H2. I have pictures of morning glories where the actual pollen grains are visable!!
I got all the parts I had glued today. Not everything lined up as I thought it would. From a distance you can’t really tell anything is wrong with him, but up close you can. I’ll take pics tomorrow after I’m more comfortable handling him. Right now the glue isnt completely dry…thanks for everyone’s help!
Yah, sometimes it can be hard to find that last stitch at the end of the row. When in doubt, count your stitches. I’ve been crocheting a bunch of years, so if you have anymore questions, give me a holler!!
