Will you let us see pictures once you’ve repaired him, asinnamon? Please?
January 17, 2007 at 8:38 pm #528815Hmm…I may just try the glue alone for now. It would be very easy to end up with the edges not aligning correctly. I think I’ll glue, let him sit overnight and see how it is tomorrow.
Any clay/filler suggestions besides the dry wall compound? Something that doesnt shrink much when dried?
January 17, 2007 at 8:45 pm #528816I use apoxie sculpt. Works pretty well for me.
January 17, 2007 at 9:06 pm #528817what kind of store is that available from?
January 17, 2007 at 9:12 pm #528818I order it online.

January 17, 2007 at 9:35 pm #528819I just finished repairing a couple of pieces with the Aves Fixit (thanks SPark). I found it easy to work with and easy to paint. Best of luck with your griffin, asinnamon!
January 18, 2007 at 12:29 am #528820Yes Please? I would love to see someone else’s handywork besides my own. 😀

My cats are a little harder to contain, but they *are* containable. Kitchen counters, shelves, desks, etc. are taboo resting places, and scratching and biting the hand that feeds is also Not Allowed. Let it never be said that negative reinforcement via a squirt bottle or a sharp, brief tap with the tip of an index finger on top of the head for transgressions like biting doesn’t deter cats. I think it offends more than anything else but it is effective!
Threats to make a tabby skin welcome mat, however, usually go ignored. 🙂
No I don’t think verbal threats work that well, at least not with mine. I’ve threatened to throw them over the balcony a few times. I would never ever harm them, and they know it. My cats are very well trained. My boys can do tricks. They both sit, sit pretty, give 5, high 5, wave, shake a paw and lie down. We are working on roll over. Romeo will never get it, Danny rolls half way then back. Danny also fetches his toys when he wants to play. But, they only do things when they want to. And always for a reward. Not always a treat. They will do tricks for attention. They stay off the counter and table if I’m in the room, if I’m not they think it’s a free for all.Anyways the griffen dosen’t look that bad. You should be able to fix it.
January 18, 2007 at 12:42 am #528822I got all the parts I had glued today. Not everything lined up as I thought it would. From a distance you can’t really tell anything is wrong with him, but up close you can. I’ll take pics tomorrow after I’m more comfortable handling him. Right now the glue isnt completely dry…thanks for everyone’s help!
January 18, 2007 at 4:24 am #528823Wow, that was a heartbreaking picture. Eitherway, at least it is together again.

That’s the real trick with these. 🙁 And you need to re-break it to fix a mis-aligned glue job. Glad he’s back together though!

My art: featherdust.comJanuary 18, 2007 at 3:11 pm #528825Here he is….if picture trail will cooperate….
from the front he’s not too bad.
From the side, you can plainly tell. I just could not get the edges to come together, there was a lot of chipping along the lines while he was in storage.
And I didn’t have as many pieces as I thought.
So, as a “collectible” he’s worthless, but he means alot to me, even if he isn’t perfect.
January 18, 2007 at 3:16 pm #528826Looks like you did a pretty good job of lining him up. A little filler in the cracks and holes should help, then paint touch ups. And he should look good as new.
January 18, 2007 at 3:18 pm #528827I’m glad you think so! I was worried I didn’t do a very good job, but it was the best I could get it without causing more problems….
Here is one more pic of the other side of him…
January 18, 2007 at 3:20 pm #528828He looks pretty lined up to me. He just needs his wounds filled in. It will be okay. You’re doing a great job!
