Wow, I just got a partial refund from Windstone ! I guess I was overcharged for shipping, and they refunded the difference… how honest of them ! I would have never known the difference 🙂
I also got a Thank You email from Susie, how nice ! Very impressed with their service ! 😀

OK, good to know! And yeah, I always try to go via Canada Post, at least the item is easier to get if Im not at home when it arrives.
Lets just hope it gets handled gently in the mail… I hope it gets well well packaged…. I know how some of the parcels get handled (I happen to work there, and see how some of the parcels can get into mishaps when other larger items get placed on top of not-so sturdy boxes by some brainless people 🙁 ) Is there any insurance if an item does arrive busted ?
And lets hope customs doesnt charge me additional fees…. *crosses fingers*

So I WENT AND DID IT !! I ordered not one, not 2, but THREE PYO pieces !! I figured I might as well take advantage since Im paying a bit for shipping anyways, and it was only a few bucks more when I added another piece to the order.. so I did !
One Keeper Dragon, One Ki-Rin and a silly Muse ! LOL !! Im so freaking excited !! Its all I could think about for the last 2 days !
Now I have to leave for work shortly… and so wish I didnt have to go ! I have so many more questions to ask ! LOL !! (Can you tell Im excited !??)
I was in Michael’s yesterday looking at the paints.. and Im really not sure on what to get. Artists Loft has a good deal on, a big variety box for like $35 I think it was. Then there is another product called Reeves, which has variety packs of small tubes for cheap.. like $20. And Liquitex Basics…are they any good ? All the other liquitex there is thick body…. THEN there is Winsor and Newton (I read on here that some people use this and like it a lot)… this is more pricey, but they only have kits of like 6 or 8 colors in it. The same goes for Golden. With these packages of just base colors, will I therefor have to learn how to mix them and make my own colors? So much to learn…
Decisions decisions… Im kinda leaning towards the Artists Loft.. since it was such a nice big variety pack and in my price range. But I dont want to buy something that is going to eventually flake or peel, or that wont show its colors as much. What would you guys recommend? Am I safe with Artists Loft ?
And then I have to decide which brushes to buy… lol ! …. and I have to make a better list of all the essentials Im going to need…. I wonder how long before my order comes in ? LOL !

Windstones aren’t ceramic, they’re gypsum (plaster). Alas, while some are dragons, they’re not Targaryens and wouldn’t withstand the flames!
You paint them with water-based paints, which don’t need to be fired (quite the opposite, in fact). Hence the top coat/seal, usually acrylic too.

Thanks for all the advice so far, it is very much appreciated. I have painted ceramics in my pre-teen days, with my Mom, many many moons ago, lol ! I really enjoyed this, and have always wanted to do something similar again. Now that I know that painting ceramics is a lot different than gypsum products, I may have to rethink my game-plan. I was considering a Muse.. hrrmmm.
But trying ceramics would be fun all the same, and would let me experience working with paint brushes and paints, mixing colors etc… even though I do realize it will be different than a Windstone. There are a few interesting looking pieces here :

Hrmmmm…. much to ponder 😛

Just curious… Is this real or a fake?
Its a brown mother dragon, she has blue eyes. When I looked her up on http://www.astralcastle.com/windstone/wsframe.htm the eyes did not look blue, rather a orange or light brownish color (pic isnt the best so hard to tell) …
So, is this listing on ebay real or not? Maybe it is a real one, but I cant find anything else like her online that is similar to her color scheme.
Thanks for the kind words everyone ! I just love him, its his eyes and the way he is so gracefully poised, the way he holds his head…. he just captivates me. I have already shown him off on Facebook to my friends, and even took him for a drive to a friends place so I could let someone else admire him. Im very proud of him ! And as dragonmedley said, I can already hear him crying for more friends, lol !
Susie… the bottom, on the base, looks to be a layer of glue and remains of a sticker that was once there.
And 4dragonlove….. Im not sure I understand what you mean, the space between his wings and body ?
Either way, Im pretty sure this is a fake, I just dont understand how some companies can get away with making replicas like this.
Oh… and this is what I can make out on the bottom….. but it is kinda sloppy so another reason I think its fake. The year is too messy to make out :

Im new to the forum so I hope Im posting this in the correct spot…
I think I own a Windstone fake, a copy, although I am not sure.

Coloration is almost exact, except for a few spots of pink which are on my piece. Also the eyes do not appear to be glass (unless they were painted over). And the pupils on my dragon are larger than what is shown in the original piece.
On the bottom there appears to be a layer of glue, whatever was originally on the bottom (felt?) had been removed. And on the back side of him, near the tail base, there is a signature/date . It is hard to make out, but appears to be PENA with copyright sign then a 2 digit year.
I cannot remember where I originally obtained this piece, for I have had it for well over 15 yrs now. Im not sure if I had purchased it from a store or obtained it at a flea market. I wish I could remember….. 🙁
Is there any chance this is a legit windstone, or is it a copy? Any ideas?
