Oh yikes! So glad he made it okay. Our UPS driver knows to always store boxes in sheltered places (i.e. on a covered porch) if it’s inclement weather out. Can you call your UPS guys up and put in a request like that?
I’ve had FedEx leave a box full of art prints I had ordered, more than $200 worth, in the driveway in the pouring rain before. They were ruined! Luckily the print shop had an agreement with FedEx and they had to replace them free. Yikes.
My UPS guys are usually pretty good too, and tend to stick things by my side entrance, which is much more sheltered. This was FexEx, and I don’t deal with them much–I wasn’t expecting it to come FedEx, either!
So glad there was a happy ending for your art prints!

I don’t think there are any spotted chicks out yet. β He’s a Labradorite chick, so basically irreplacable if the little guy had ‘drowned.’ π―
Windstone griffins should never go swimming. They wouldn’t look so sleek and majestic with sodden feathers sticking out every which way! π
They look lovely! Are you going to get some black chicks (when they’re available) to add to the confusion? π π
I hope somebody can get in contact with her! π

My heart was in my throat opening that package! He’s my little survivor! π π

That would be gorgeous! π
π So sorry to hear all that’s going on. I’ll pray for them.

That’s one thing I don’t like about UPS, is the fact that they just leave stuff at your door. I much prefer deliveries by the postal service. I don’t want packages left at my doorstep, especially because I live in an apartment complex… and you can’t trust anyone nowadays not to swipe stuff that isn’t theirs. At least the mail lady we have either leaves it with the leasing office or at our post office.
I’m glad he got to you okay though, and he looks great with all the other chicks. π
If he’d been messed up by the rainwater, I’d have been bawling for sure.
I prefer USPS for that reason, also because if I have to drive to pick up a UPS package, it’s a very long trip (with a few mandatory wrong turns ) , while the post office is just a mile away.

Just a little damp around the corners, thankfully!
And I’m keeping that box in my room under my eye, Jasmine. There’s no knowing what my cats might consider ‘edible.’ π
I’m sure glad to have him safe and sound! π
Thanks! I’m sure they’re plotting something… π
Thanks!
They do pack very well, though I agree I don’t think a box would survive being run over! π―
I’m very much looking forward to adding some black sunset chicks…and black violet…and brown… π
So, after a horrid morning in which I had the worst nightmare I’ve had in years, and got up to find one of my bettas dead π₯ …well, today I got my long-awaited Labradorite Sitting Griffin Chick at last.
I’d had to sign the slip on my door yesterday for FedEx to drop the package off (since I certainly can’t be taking days off work everytime I expect to receive something).
I come home, after a long dark day in which it has done little else but rain, to find the box sitting by my front door. It was all bulgy and bloated-looking, obviously soaked. I pick it up, and a thin stream of water cascades from one corner. π
I take it inside and open it up. Do they make some packing peanuts out of cornstarch now, is that it? Environmentally admirable, I’m sure, and normally I’d be cheering, but standing in the rainwater dissolved these packing peanuts into pasty mush, and of course the weight of the inner box dragged it down into that mess. If it had been styrofoam peanuts, it would have stayed high and maybe dry. π
So yes, the inner box was soaked as well. Thank God and Windstone for that inner plastic bag! There was a little condensation in parts, but nothing worse. My heart could start beating again! π
I wish it had been sent USPS like my other orders. Then I could have either fetched it from the post office, or they’d have stuck it inside my screendoor, or used the side door–all drier alternatives. Oh well, all’s well that ends well, my new little darling will just have to take residence in someone else’s box until I get a nice display case for him.
And as a reward for all that griping, here’s a picture!
π NOW WE ARE FIVE!! π
Good luck selling him! (If he were a silver you’d hear from me π ).
Is there a reason he likes canned peas in particular? π π
