Hmm, interesting you choose the Ice…I was thinking earth/air/fire/water/spirit. I love the greenie the best.
Truly awesome. I plan to do an elemental series myself in KiRins or dragons and this one turned out awesome. Are you going to also do the Spirit KiRin? Or are you just planning the 4?
Did you dilute with water? Because I’ve had no sucess with that at all and is seems to muck up the scales. You did a truly amazing job on this and the sheen is perfection. They are buggers to antiwue but you did awesome!
For a few years now I have been deciding on getting a tattoo…which later became several tattoos I do want to eventually get as my budget allows. I was going to get one last December for my birthday but then of course couldn’t after I was hit with the whole birth control blood clot ordeal, and have been on blood thinners since then, so it’s be life-threatening to get a tattoo in my present condition.
However, there is new hope. I am currently off of blood thinner for 2 weeks before I go in for serious testing. IF, and it is a big “if,” if I test ok and don’t show heavy clotting in my bloodstream I can get a tattoo. Most people I guess need to be on the meds for a year or two, or even life my doctor says…and I WILL NOT stay on these drugs for life, I have already made up my mind to that, since any injury could become my doom and recent events (the car accident) has shown me that anything can happen at any time.
Now I had wanted a special and significant armband…but something else has called to me lately…the koi. There is an ancient story that says that a koi who makes the long journey up the Yellow River and leaps over the waterfall at the Dragon’s Gate will become a dragon. The koi have thus become a symbol of change and perseverance, and I feel that the koi would therefore be the ideal tattoo to symbolize the arduous year that I have gone through, both with the fighting with family, getting married, moving out, nearly dying twice, and now finally growing up to live my own life, this is important to me.
I want to draw a koi dragon…a hybrid of a koi that has crossed the Dragon’s Gate. Does anyone have any ideas for what koi species I should use for this or should I make one up? I do prefer calico koi, but perhaps one koi has more significance over others…and i know nothing of flower symbolism and I may want one there since koi are often pictures with them. Any suggestions? In case my tests come back OK, I plan to run out and get the tattoo as fast as I can draw it, but I do want to prepare for the best, and prepare sketches and ideas and such. any help would be appreciated.
That is awesome!
I’m having a difficult time keeping my 1 a day already! I can’t keep up!
The commissioner may want a different color format on this, so I may be doing another golden ruby soon, depending on what she says. We’ll see. This will go to EBay in that case.
Lol, well I’ll try to make sure mine won’t match yours, since you’ll probably get to yours first. I have a sunset dragon and a green KiRin that wants a paint coating first.
Feel free to use the same colors. I am sure many will be using similar precious metal themes on their dragons. I will probably do another like this one…only with adding blacks. We’ll see.
Also, others may want to use my stripe dragon wing patterns…that’s ok. I don’t corner the market on striped wings. I just will be painting all of my dragon PYOs with stripes. That doesn’t mean somebody else cn’t paint one or two with stripes too. It’s just “my thing” on ALL of my dragons, but you guys should feel free to use stripes or spots if you want to when it suits your sculpture…like for a tiger dragon or something.
Same sculpture, but reworked in just about every area. I did do some drybrushing on the chest area again, which worked fine, but the rest got blended up again like my usual wolves.
It’s very expensive for me to stockpile, so I am tankful to be able to sell PYOs I paint on EBAY and thank all of you guys in the forums for that. It also helps me pay medical bills.
I find myself thinking of new paint jobs ALL THE TIME, even before going to sleep at night. I have about a dozen paint themes I want to do in my head right now but I rarely paint with photos unless I need to copy an animal skin or feather pattern…or to paint like a color sample I gave a commissioner using Photoshop or something…but that’s it. I usually arrange my paint choices and go from there. I also want to follow themes, like Earth/Air/Fire/Water for a nice dragon and KiRin set maybe, or whole sets on a single color scheme. I also try to think of what colors would look best with what eyes, and what colors I haven’t seen done yet by others, etc.
This is the commission I recently took from the posted auctions on Ebay…I had to finish this one ultra fast to be in time for someone’s birthday. This one took a nice over-nighter.

It’s very different from my usual choice of paints blends, but I do love how it came out. It had to be done in ruby, gold, and bronze metallics, and I added in silver for more impact.I personally want to have a KiRin from as many other Windstone painters on the board as possible…eventually maybe I can trade for them all.
It’s perfect now.

I took the same sculpture and blended rather than drybrushed.Ah ok, thanks.
