Happy Birthday! 😀
I like that color too. I’d definitely buy one. When I get around to buying a PYO dragon or Kirin, I was going to try a color combination something like that.
For indoors, I recommend sprinkling borax on the carpet. You can find it as ’20 Mule Team’ among the laundry soaps in your local grocery store. It dries out out the fleas. Leave it a couple of days, then vacuum. Repeat as needed. I suggested it to a friend and she said it helped.
For the cat, try a smidge of garlic powder in her food every few weeks. Fleas don’t like garlic flavored blood. Just remember that too much garlic is bad them. So you might feel better finding cat treats that have garlic in them or try a homemade treat recipe (lots on the web).
Also, if your cat doesn’t mind baths (yea, I know, that’s a long shot), if you can keep the body submerged for 10-15 mins, the fleas drown.
The biggest thing to remember is to continually repeat whatever measures you take. Fleas can lie dormant for a long time, so you can never assume that you got rid of them.
Thanks, Pegasi. I thought it might be those. I’ve alos seen some photos of browns that looked more one color done in different shades. I liked those, but I think they may have been ‘specials’.
And most of my color reference has been from photographs, so it’s possible that I’m not seeing color variations.
And despite my comments about the single colors, I’m debating between the gold and the white in the old warrior as an addition to my collection. For an ‘old’ dragon, white or gold seems to be the fitting color for an elder of high ranking. 🙂
Are there different restrictions for a dealer to ship an item than for someone shipping something to a friend (from the the US to the UK)?
As in, does it cost a dealer more because of customs charges, etc?
What I like most about the Windstone dragons is their realism. Some of the bright colors take away from the look that they could just get up and walk away at any moment.
First let me say, I love all the colors and I wouldn’t turn any down if they needed a home. 😀
As for what I look for to spend money on…
For me. the single colors need more depth. I like the gold, but if it were done more like the ‘special gold’ on the Spectral in the Ebay Gallery, I would have bought one by now. Or if the ruby was done like the red gold in the Ebay gallery, but that would probably put it in the 2-color category. 🙂
The multi-colored ones have so much color going on, even though they are stunning to look at, you visually lose the detail of the dragon. As for the 3-4 colors, I just want more choices than different versions of peacock.
So my vote goes to the 2-color sharply contrasted, though as mentioned in another post, I’d like to see other base colors besides black. I’m not sure which ‘old browns and greens’ are being referred to in the other 2-color category. If it’s the ones from 1984, they are too glossy looking for me. I prefer the satin shine (more lifelike to me).
Of the colors in the Ebay Gallery, my favorites are the Copper Mauve and the Autumn Leaf Old Warriors. And that may be because they are different from the production colors I’ve seen so far.
Sorry to be so long winded. 🙂 For me it’s more about the realism than the color. Sometimes the color (or multi-colors) doesn’t work on one design, but it’ll bring another design to life.
Sounds like a Birthday to remember!
Happy Birthday!
Q: What is craigslist?
A: Local community classifieds and forums – a place to find jobs, housing, goods & services, social activities, a girlfriend or boyfriend, advice, community information, and just about anything else — all for free, and in a relatively non-commercial environment. If you put ‘craigslist windstone’ in a Google search, you’ll find the ones mentioned earlier. I was Google searching for ‘Windstone Dragon’ and found the Rainbow Mother dragon in a town about 45 mins away from me.
I was at a local store today that doesn’t seem to be carrying the Windstone sculptures anymore. They did have 2 emperors left in colors that I believe are retired. One peacock ($249) and one rainbow ($279). I just thought I’d mention them, if they are on anyone’s wish list.
Took me a while to figure out how to initiate a PM, but I found it and sent one. 🙂
Wow! That’s a lot of Windstones. I think I may have a bigger collection than I thought I had. I have pictures like some of the ons in the photos. I got them ages ago because I liked them. I had no idea that they were the same artist.
Thanks for sharing the pics. I like the way that you have many of them in pairs. I see a spot for a green male. 🙂
Dragonessjade,
Is there a picture of your collection anywhere? It sounds like you have a lot of dragons.I’m going to be picking up a peacock mother this weekend from someone local. She also has a a male dragon available. He’s listed as green, but I think it’s the emerald color from the photo. If you’re interested, check out the link. If you’d like me to pick him up too, let me know and we can work out the mailing part later.
I just recently finished reading Fire Within, Icefire and Fire Star. The first two I borrowed from my grand newphew. The third I went out to buy so I could finish the series, then I sent the book to him so he could finish it. Now I learn there’s a 4th one coming out this year in the UK (in march 2008 in the US).
How many times have you wished your dragons would come to life? It would be just the coolest thing to have little dragons around the house to keep you company. 😀
A Lap Dragon and an Old Warrior are on my wish list. I just don’t know what colors yet.
