I’ve enjoyed both of their music. I still like the music they’ve done so I guess I would be a fan, but not so big a fan to go to Graceland on Elvis’ birthday. 🙂
What prompted the question?
That was pretty cute. 🙂
I don’t really have any patterns in my spending. When my tax refund comes in, I try to hang onto it, but it usually gets whittled away on various things (fixing things around the house, small splurges for myself). As for spending in general, I probably spend less this year because of the increases in utilities, insurance and taxes. I think that affects everyone, because where I work (national home improvement service) we’re not doing the same amount of business we did last year. I’ve also had to buy a few ‘luxuries’ this year as needed replacements – new (used) car in January, new tv in March, new air conditioner in June (Happy Birthday to me) so that’s put an added demand on my monthly extra money.
In rediscovering Windstones, I’ve been checking out the local places that the Dealers List says carries Windstones. For me, I’ll do impulse buying if an item is under $100. I picked up a rainbow young dragon at the first shop I visited. I was just on a scouting trip at lunchtime, had no plans to buy anything. 🙂 A lot of what I was seeing in the gift shops seem to be smaller collectibles too. Fairy Artist figures seem to be the popular thing now.
I came across a peacock emperor in a shop that no longer carried the Windstones. I normally would not have bought this large of a sculpture, if I hadn’t seen it person. I like the blues and purples of the peacock color. I kept thinking about it, so a week later I went back to the shop and bought it. The retired color and the store sale was too good of an opportunity to pass up. I think with large sculptures and sculptures over $200, your average person will pause to think about the purchase and possibly talk themselves out of it.
Something I think that also influences collectible buying are the current popular movies. Wouldn’t having your own magic wand or time-turner be cool? When the movie Eragon was out, there were dragon things all over the place.
Enough rambling for now. Just thought I’d throw out some more ideas about spending. 🙂
Wow! I gotta get me an Old Warrior!
The title was a bit spooky at first. Sandy is my dog’s name and she is going to the vet tomorrow. It’s just for a teeth cleaning, but she’s an older dog and having to use anesthesia concerns me.
Your work is beautiful and I really like the idea of having a winged wolf painted as a memorial. That’s something I’ll have to look into.
I think he’s just a smidge too big to fit in my oven. Do you bake him in a regular kitchen oven?
Bosky, I’m glad I’m not the only one that looks at what is going on in the background. I’m always checking out the details. 😀
Kyrin, you do such good work, I wish I could just sit and watch you work on them as you make them whole again. 🙂
Very pretty colors. I’m still working on my first PYO. I’m taking it slow since I haven’t done any painting in ages and I don’t want to get discouraged with him. I’d love to see your Kirin. I want to get one of those next.
Taking photos can be a trial. Depending on your lighting, it also can affect your colors. I like to take my pictures in the kitchen because the overhead fluorescent light shows truer colors than the incandescent lamps in the living room. I don’t have any place outside to take pictures in natural light yet.
Gorgeous colors, I love the detail!
Congratulations!
Welcome Micah. I’m fairly new too. Trust me when they say your collection will grow now that you’re here. I had a 20 year gap since the last Windstones that joined my family. Since finding this group last month, my collection has doubled. 🙂
Be sure to cruise the different message threads. You’ll find lots of pictures of awesome collections much bigger than mine.
I saw that too. Wasn’t someone saying they might have to sell their SK? If I was going to be the VA area anytime soon, I’d be SO tempted. Probably a good thing I won’t be going that way until later in the year.
Is the book still in production? Oh good! I thought I’d missed out on something again.
I’ve been trying to resist Poads to save my money for dragons, but if there is a book coming out with them in it, I may have to give in and buy a Poad 🙂 So far, I like the butternut color the best. And now that I’ve been able to see other pictures of them, I think their little feetsies are so cute!
Beautiful work. I love the colors in the unicorn’s mane. I like how the body hair on the wolf and unicorn seem to have texture to them.
Moving is always a pain. I’m like you, I like having the time to plan things out and do things my way. Try not to stress too much. We’ll all be thinking about ya and watching for your return. 🙂 *hugs*
