Thanks again everyone. We decided today that we’re definately going to make him a part of our family. I hesitated because I thought it might be too soon, but it just feels right.
Oh wow, Bodine. She’s gorgeous!

If it works out and you get him, I wish you all the best of times!! If it grows up to be the most unruly pet you’ve ever had, you can always say, I knew I should’ve waited – and blame your hubby. LOL
😀
Hahah!! I won’t let him be unruly. Particularly because if we DO get him, I’d like to do comformation with him. And he can’t do well in hunting if he doesn’t know how to listen and follow commands. Of course, this particular breed is known for their high energy (one of the reasons they do make good hunters)which is fine with me. Titan was a high energy furchild as well. We just kept him busy, and I gave him a job as my daily jogging companion, so that he never got restless enough to destroy things. Usually about halfway through the day, all Titan wanted to do was curl up on my feet and sleep. :)Of course, there’s a lot about this type of dog that will take some acclimating to get used to. They are ‘velcro dogs’, and once they are bonded with their family, they are clingy and want to be with their people. And by ‘with’, I mean at your side constantly unless they are hard at work tracking birds. I’m actually sort of looking forward to that part. Titan was super independent unless he wanted something, or he was tired and wanted to curl up close to me. Plus, there’s the whole house training part, which is ALWAYS a blast. Don’t think it’s going to be too tough with this guy though, as the breeder starts their potty training while they are still with her. Ah, the joys of puppyhood!
Thank you all.. 🙂 My husband really wants him, I think. I think we’re definately going to go have a meet and greet with this little guy. Lola called us again this morning and asked if we were busy, because she’s free today. Not sure what, if anything, we’re doing for mothers day, though. She sent me a few more pictures of him, and said that she’s been working with him on the early hunting training, since he’s been showing a lot of potential. At this age, it’s all just a form of play for him. Teaching him to use his nose, and galloping around playing. I’m glad that he’s getting some extra play time. 🙂
Incidentally, I think that this guy tugs at my husbands heart for another reason. My husbands grandfather whom we just lost a month and a half ago…his name was Wally. My husband thinks it’s ‘meant to be’.
I’m starting to feel like maybe he’s right. *soft smile*
Indeed.. happy mothers day to all the different mommies out there. 🙂
LOL!!!! Bet you’re glad you didn’t smell it after all.. *giggle*
kitsunelady wrote:Thanks siberakh =) I look forward to your Dad’s opinion! I considered maybe some digested food a spider was saving…but do they do that? I thought they just wrapped it up whole and saved it to suck dry later. >.>;…Srsly, it looks like something some creature pooped out/laid to me. There’s even like a little…trailing end. *barf* I guess that could be where it was attached to whatever the grackle picked it off of though.
And no, I did not smell it! :0 Gross me out~ It was hard enough to look at it…especially the one that had burst open. I almost gagged. >.>; Well, they’re probably still going to be sitting in the flowerpot I dropped them in when I fished them out of the birdbath tomorrow…maybe I can find some sucker to sniff it for me. 😀
Haha!!! Man, I’m one of those weird (read: dumb) people that does crap like that.. I totally would have smelled it. Probably would have heaved a little, but I would have done it. 😆
I hate to be the one to ask, but…erm… did you smell it?
Should I feel guilty? My husband started talking to a breeder, sort of told her what he was looking for…and also told her that he was in NO hurry to get a new dog. That we would wait til next year even.
Today, she called us. The pick of the litter that will be ready to go home in three weeks lost his home. They had some debt issues and told her to put their deposit toward another good home that may want him. She said that there were others who wanted him, and she even considered keeping him for herself… but she thought that he would be better suited to our home if we were interested.
I almost feel like.. I don’t know. Almost guilty. I will never be able to replace Titan in my heart, but I feel like this is a good thing at the same time. We’d be getting an amazing dog, who the lady is more than willing to give over to us in lieu of keeping him because he matches our home perfectly. So maybe I don’t have to replace Titan. Maybe I just find a different place in my heart for this gorgeous fellow?
What do you guys think? She wants us to come meet him. She says it’s just as important that the dog pick us as vice versa, but she thinks that he would be perfect. Is going to see him ‘cheating’ on my recently lost baby? I know that if I meet him, I’m going to fall in love with him.
So…..that being said, Meet Wally!
It looks like an egg of some sort? I’ve never seen anything like that. Grackles are notorious for taking over other birds nests.. I hope it wasn’t anything like that! That’s really creepy, though. Looks like something out of the Aliens movies.. lol.
Haha! You all are great. 🙂
Bless you for putting your heart into such a noble cause as this. I wish I could go with you.
Missed it… buuuuut, I don’t have the money for one right now anyways. *double sigh*
