I saw their lap dragon alrady has a bid for $200. I didn’t think one would sell over the issue price of $150.

She had said eariler that this one is an old russet curl that happened the be a little heavy on the violet. The new violet flame curly is much more orange along the spine scales (like the VF fledgeling tummy) and have red eys instead.
Oh. 😳 Thanks!
Those Lab Griffins look wonderful! Thank you for sharing them!

I thought they had red eyes?
I have always loved fantasy stuff, unicorns for sure, but dragons were a very close second. Back in the mid/late 80s all the fantasy stuff coming out of other factories (imports) were poorly made, lacked detail and were few and far between – just not much selection.
When I saw my first Windstones the detail was amazing (still is), they were large, and the colors were spectacular. I’m a nut when it comes to details and the quality on Windstones were far and beyond anything back then. I’ve noticed that the details and selection coming out of China in resin has improved dramatically (for less cost), but Windstones are still my favorite. It also seems odd that not many people can make a descent looking unicorn. That’s why I have always loved my Windstone unicorns. Ahhh the detail and quality!
The only regret I have is that back in the 80s Windstones were quite expensive in comparison to most things on the market so that my parents wouldn’t buy them for me. I had to wait until the mid-90s before I could purchase my first one.
And I haven’t stopped yet! 😀

I had the casting dept do a batch of large rock dragons in gypsum rather than the cement (it paints easier) so I could paint them as special, indoor only rock dragons. Haven’t gotten to it yet, but they could have different colored eyes.
!!! Are they wildly heavy or about the same as the concrete ones?
I would also be curious how the tensile strength of such large piece would hold up since it is more horizontal than verticle.

Well folks, sounds like the first batch of white spectrals are very special “freaky eyed” Spectrals!well they are more reflective in pictures than the ones with the black…..
I didn’t even notice it till I got home and put the two spectrals together for the picture… 😀
and I didn’t even know about the sparkley paint effect until someone told me….LOL
I just got my white sitting spectral in the mail yesterday. At first I was bummed that the eyes were so light (since I like the reflectiveness of the dark eyes), but in normal lighting I like the overall look better with these eyes. I think they blend better with the white color scheme than if they were dark. My only question is if they will pick up low light levels the way the dark eyes do?
Frozen, could you take a side pic of both your white spectrals together? The photo effect in your previous post might have been due to the angle the sculp was at.
Melody – If you keep the eyes light in future batches you should try that glow in the dark paint you mentioned you had used on some test paints. I think it wouldn’t be that noticable in the day, but at night, oh boy!
Nambroth wrote:Don’t feel bad! The highest ever selling Windstone was an OW! 🙂 It matters only how much you like him. 🙂
What is the highest on record to date?
The autumn colored one is very festive!
Oh, thank you for letting me know. That would make sense, but the term just struck me odd.
Oh boy Ski, you opened a can of worms on this one. 😆
Well, at the risk of touching off a ravenous mob (and for ticking off Melody – sorry Melody 🙁 ), I really don’t like the hatching dragon. It looks like a head was put onto a pebble or something. I find them somewhat annoying.
I also don’t care for the new black sunset griffin. I didn’t like the retired black griffins and the new ones will have red eyes, so it’s a strike out as far as my tastes are concerned.
I do like the violet flame color, but haven’t seen one in person, so I don’t know if I would like the mustard yellow color on it. Probably not. That’s why I didn’t like the gold curls.
*runs and ducks for cover*
I’m sorry, I think I’m being a little dense lately, but what is a “crossover collectible”?
That level of pink would be very nice.
Nice group pic Frozen!
That spectral does look weird. I ordered one and hope it has the dark eyes (that you’re is just special – well, it is, but you know what I mean). 😀
