That was the original box, and the original bubble wrap that I closed up to keep all the original little crumbs. As soon as he arrived, I knew things were bad. The entire piece was well wrapped, but floating in the box loose to shift around. I hope I shipped it out to you in better shape kyrin. I can hardly wait to see him. His new home is cleared out and waiting for him.
Trust me, your packing job was terrific, and I added a few more packing peanuts, since I took out the box you used for the arm. So he is very secure as long as they don’t drop anything heavy on him, even then, he may be safe, he has so much protection in all directions.
You are a good packer, too bad the person who sent him to you wasn’t.
I hope you will be pleased with how he looks. You may be able to find one of the cracks in his cloak, but it is in the back of him, and you really need to be looking for it to see it.
I’m pretty proud of how well I managed to hide all evidence of breakage, but there was still that one bit I mentioned, but I figured I had to stop somewhere or I would mess him up.

It may not happen for awhile after the final defeat of Voldemort, but considering he held the wizarding world in terror for nearly 30 years, I wouldn’t be surprised if another Voldemort wannabe popped up eventually.
Assuming that this sort of thing won’t happen again and not keeping up the wizarding police force up, would almost ensure it happening again, and worse, what if the next Voldemort learns from the first one’s mistakes?
Best to stay vigilant. Sure most of the time they will just be scaring baby bad wizards, but or just rounding up the several thousand previous Voldemort supporters. But just like our society now, there will always be criminals and murderers. So never fear, the Aurors will be busy. The upside it that with Harry’s reputation, most bad guys will give up without too much of a fight if they run up against him.

July 28, 2007 at 3:25 am in reply to: Harry Potter DH **SPOILER THREAD** DO NOT ENTER unless read! #602772I have to admit that I was really happy that Snape ended up being good, and that Dumbledore’s faith in him had been well put. I now understand exactly why Dumbledore always maintained that he believed and trusted him.
I too was a bit disappointed in the naming of Harry and Ginny’s kids, with the exception of Albus Severus, it would have been really cool if Severus had known, wonder if they told his Headmaster portrait in the office.
I was really sad that Lupin and Tonks died though, course I kinda saw it coming with Dora went after Remus after he’d asked her to stay home with the baby. At least they were together anyway. Poor Teddy though.
Losing Fred really broadsided me. I actually cheered out loud when Neville chopped off Nagini’s head, I was so proud of him. I was also cheering when Mrs. Weasley kicked ass, if anyone deserved her fate, Bellatrix did.
I also liked how Harry took down Voldemort, took him down verbally, completely brought him low, explaining all his mistakes and failures, then letting Voldemort make his last and final error. I liked how he reduced him back to Tom Riddle in the end, taking away his self proclaimed title as well, that was a master stroke, showing Tom he was not as all knowing and powerful as he thought he was, and in front of all his followers, leaving them no doubts about their leader’s failings. Brilliant.
There was a good reason for doing to that way too, by pointing out Voldemort’s failings and arrogance, I feel it really made clear that their faith was misplaced from the start. And hopefully humiliated them enough that no one in their group would even consider reviving Voldemort’s cause ever again.
Overall though I really enjoyed the book and was delighted with how it ended and the tying up of all the loose ends. I look forward to seeing the movie series finished. And to my son getting to the point where he can sit long enough to really listen to me when I read the story to him.
Course I have a million questions, like did Harry end up the Defense against the dark arts professor, or did he become an Auror, or maybe even headmaster of Hogwarts. I am leaning towards Defense teacher. Partly cause he was good at it, and also because I think he’d had his fill of endangering his life.
Did Ginny and Harry end up raising Teddy Lupin, or did his grandparents? Whatever happened to the others not mentioned.

I mean, I wasn’t really SURPRISED that JK put Ron and Hermione together, I just had a hard time seeing it work in real life (yeah, I know, like HP is real life anyway.. Wait, no, what am I saying?? Of course its real, it must be real!! *clutches books with crazed look in eyes*)
Sorry, I just don’t see parseltongue as being the sort of thing that can be immitated. Sort of like trying to immitate german…. 😯
I figured Ron and Hermione out from the start. I knew they were just a matter of time. What surprised me was Harry and Ginny at first. But it made sense as well once I got over my surprise.
Why not, it is just another language? And one can imitate German, it may not be accurate, but you can repeat sounds you’ve heard. Children do it all the time, you know. 😉

Heck, well, everybody really, ‘cept for the bad guys. I cried when Doby died though, that was the worst. I was convinced that Hagrid would die, and was surprised when he didn’t. I wonder who all JK planned to have killed off? She had said 2 main characters originally. 2 Main characters my butt. There were like, seven!! What bothered me about the book was:
-Not knowing whatever happened to Harry’s aunt and uncle, and Dudley.
-Seeing Ron and Hermione married. I dunno, I just don’t see them working together.
-Harry’s scar not dissappearing. That was his big connection to Voldemort, I was sure that at some point the scar would dissapear. Like a release.
-Ron speaking parseltongue. He just tried hissing, and “poof”, it worked!? If it was that easy, everyone would be doing it! Parseltongue is a rare and special gift. It doesn’t just come out by trying to hiss like a snake. If Hermione and Ron surprised you, then you weren’t paying attention, that’s what that whole fight in Goblet of Fire was all about, Ron finally realised Hermione was a girl, and that he was very interested in going out with her. It’s been an under current between them from the start. They fight like an old married couple, and have from get go.
Ron speaking Parseltongue, he listened to Harry when he was asking the locket to open, Harry said it several times and so Ron was able to imitate it, took him a few tries though, but it was explained how he pulled it off.

Have you tried storing the leftover bread in the freezer right away?
That’s what I usually do, since it takes me quite awhile to get through a whole loaf. I double bag it in Ziploc freezer bags, and it stays very fresh.
yeah, but it is a pain in the tail, also I don’t have a lot of available space in the freezer. It’s easier to do without.

pegasi1978 wrote:LOL well be expecting a huge box (18x18x16) from me soon. I’ll be shipping the griffin out tomorrow after I drop my rugrat off at hourly daycare for the afternoon. I actually had to scrounge for packing peanuts to go in the two boxes. I had just enough though. 😆 I thought about smaller, but I was afraid a 16-inch cube wouldn’t allow enough padding on the sides. I tipped it gently and didn’t hear anything shift. 😀 Thanks for agreeing to try and fix him for me.
I hope you remembered to include the broken bits. If not, throw em in quick! As for fixing him, heck, I like fixing things, always have.

I make my own bread from scratch usually. It’s cheaper and much better than store bought, only downside it is doesn’t last long, maybe 2 days if I guard it so everyone doesn’t eat it all in one go.
Lately we have just been doing without bread, too hot to bake…and I would really need to bake about 4 loaves a week to keep up, but buying from the store is out, store bought bread doesn’t last, mold grows fast in this climate. At least with homemade bread, the bread doesn’t last long enough to go moldy. 🙂

You did a great job!!!!!
Thanks, he’s all packed up…JC is gonna have fun unwrapping him, but all is fair in love and war. After all, he did it to me, so I mummified the wizard just as througly…he’s gonna need a knife for the bubble wrap enshrouding him. LOL!
Though I was nice, and didn’t wrap 10 winds of tape around him.
I think Joe sent the original box he was shipped in within the bigger shipping box, it looked suspicious, and if it was, then I am not surprised it got damaged, that box is just exactly big enough, and no bigger for the wizard. So one or two good knocks or God forbid he was dropped or something was dropped on him, cablooey, broken wizard.
I admit to always feeling a bit of worry in packing these things…even though I know we’ve packed him well, I still cringe about sending him away. What if he doesn’t arrive in one piece? Though I know I shouldn’t worry, I still do.

Good work!
Thanks, I am really pleased with him. Need to pack him up so he can go home.
Right now he looks pretty cool in the middle of my work table.

purplecat wrote:OMG! He’s huge! I had a MUCH smaller iguana bite me several years ago and it went nearly to the bone, iguanas are scary 😯 That one seems to be pretty relaxed though, is he a pet of hers?
Those claws hurt! Also, if you are bitten, that hurts alot too, though I did learn from mine that whatever you do, do not pull back! Their teeth are serrated, so jerking back when bit just rips you up worse.
Mine wasn’t quite that big though, she was 3.5 feet long when I gave her to a guy who really really wanted her bad, since he had more time and inclination towards iguana care, I gave her up. He spoils her rotten.

Broken pics will be coming, but basically the whole arm with the staff was completely broken off, and fragmented into about 10+ pieces, this also included the back folds of the cloak on the right side as well. Translation, a lot of holes to fill in.
The top of the staff was gone, and I think perhaps the replacement I made is taller than the original, but it was the best I could do, overall I think it looks about right.
This one took me a couple days, partly due to the new Harry Potter book and partly just due to how much little details had to be restored.
Let me know what you folks think.
Kyrin
yay! He made it home safe!

ooohh..how lovely! You do beautiful work.
Lucky Ski!

I can fix him, always wanted to see a scratcher up close and personal.
This one I will need to charge you a repair fee on, but if you would like him fixed, let me know.
I’m also sorry to hear another one of your dragons got broken. Has your curlie shown up yet?
