Thanks Nam, I will look them up, maybe drive down there this weekend.

I know I can look at the dealer’s page and call around, but I kinda want to know if what the local “favorite” spot is…you know the kind that the store owners or workers are into Windstones also and will talk to you about them, instead of getting your money and rushing you off.

There was a small fantasy gift shop near where we live, about 5 or 6 years ago, and after work my wife and I would go there, drool over the pieces, and chat with the owner, until she closed. We never bought Windstones from her but we bought a ton of other stuff. We went out of town for about half a year or so, and when we came back she was gone. But it was cool that she was into what she sells and knows alot about them…

The only chain store in my area that I might ACTUALLY try is Hallmark. There is a wide range in quality depending on location for the Hallmark stores. There was one Hallmark that carried really high end stuff, like Cathernes paperweights that are almost $400. They closed down or moved a couple of years back…I have to do the scouting again…I’ve just been on Ebay too long 😀

I wonder if ANYONE has all the production pieces. How many regular production pieces has been produced?

in reply to: How long and how many? #615891

Ok…how long have you guys been collecting & how many pieces are in your collection? I know it’s always growing, but I just want an idea of how much catching up I need 😀

For me I’ve been collecting about 3 years, but just now seriously started! My very first piece was a brown male dragon. Then for about 2 years nothing. Then I was messing around on Ebay and I ended up with a Black Gold OW Proto. Then I forced myself to quit for about a year, then happened upon an estate sale where I got many smaller pieces for cheap, mint too. Just last week I got a Special Gold Scratcher and a white mother on Ebay (still waiting). So far I have a whopping total of 9 pieces! bawaghahhhahah TOP THAT! 😀

There are so many I want…but I’m gonna keep my list “realistic”:

    White Scratcher
    White OW
    Brown Mother
    Green Mother

Im kinda anal about condition though…so all have to be in MINT condition.
See…short and sweet, and just enough to keep me broke. Of course if I see ANY emperors at garage sales… 😀

Well my nick comes from George RR Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire Series. Khal Drogo is your basic warrior king, kinda like Genghis Khan.

My wife thinks that I remind her of Drogo. She’s a big fan of GRRM also (her nick is Daenerys, if she ever logs on).

Besides from being a GRRM fan we kinda resemble Drogo and Daenerys also as a couple. I’m asian and she’s a blond. We both are also really into martial arts, so I think we have their ‘warrior’ mentality also. That and we’re totally crazy about each other and dragons. We need to save up for 3 fledgling dragons for her, like Daeny’s (Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal)I just hope I don’t share Drogo’s fate anytime soon 😀

Just wondering if any of you are from the Houston area. Where do you go for your Windstones?

The Ashley Avery, I used to go to closed down, and I went to another one across town and they only had one piece, a male unicorn, and no dragons! The girl was really busy so I didn’t press her on it. But, I thought that it was really strange they only had one piece there, because the one that I went to before it went out of business had a whole side wall of dragons. There are also some that I went to but they didn’t carry dragons, just the gargoyles and bookends.

I know there is a dealer’s section on this website, but I was wondering which is a good (cheaper & plenty of dragons) place to go to. I’d appreciate it if someone clues me in 😀

Hi, Melody! I’ve been drooling over your dragons for years now, but kinda new on this forum, so not sure if you’ve been asked this before, but…

I’ve heard that the brown emperors are the rarest production pieces, and I was just wondering why you only made them for a year. How many do you think were produced during that time? Also, do you plan to make a limited edition brown emperor in the future?

Just wondering, because we were talking about Windstones we passed on, in another thread and I remember passing up on a brown emperor at a Texas Ren Fair years ago. Well, I didn’t really pass him up, as I was just a kid, and couldn’t afford him at the time. I remember my friends had to drag me away though. I’m cringing at the memory now 🙂

    Have a great week! 😀

“I got a Gold Emperor for free for getting a store to carry Windstones.”

Thats AWESOME!!! I have got to hit the stores this weekend. I’ll get Wal-Mart to start carrying them! Imagine 50 Emperors of every color lined up next to the cash registers! Impulse buying baby! 😀

WOW Nam, it’s beautiful…the most beautiful emperor I’ve seen! How long did it take you to paint him? Love his colors, his wings look like mother of pearl! Kinda reminds me of a giant seahorse 😀

    “MIB, though, thats rare.”

Yeh, thats why I had to go for it! She was selling a white male too, and it wet for a little over $100, but I couldn’t afford it. I hope I didn’t make her too mad bugging her about double boxing and stuff:)

Oh, and I saw a brown emperor once at a Tex Ren Fair, long long time ago. I wasn’t into Windstones at the time, not that I could’ve afforded it, but I just remember thing how cooooooolllllllllll it was!
