Ditto. I’m with keschete on this. I think the collectors who love Windstones for what they are, and not what they’re worth dollar-wise should be able to afford them. Like I said, if you’re one of those who’s online all the time, and will be watching for the new releases…let me know if you’re willing to text my cell so I can hustle home to help the list of people who can’t. = Yeah, that includes myself! 😕 , YES I did, because everyone here that REALLY “knows” me…I am NOT like that! I had bought NO more than 2 of something at one time, and that was because I had planned on the EXTRA set being a Christmas gifts for someone, they didnt deserve them at the time when it came so I kept them. My MEDICAL bills were running UP and I desperately needed the money, so I tried to list them. I would have listed them here, but at “THAT” time I DIDNT KNOW HOW TO! SOOOOO….before you go accusing people of stuff…would you MIND listening to what they have to say instead of e-mailing them FIRST and “BASHING” them with out asking them OR knowing the situation FIRST!?!? THATS why I got mad at you, and “YOU” know that!

I think it’s really awesome what you are doing here keschete, (and everyone else involved) and I for one am really happy someone is trying to put this together to help everyone from retailers and their crazy mark ups…but I also am guilty of having to do that one or twice myself and I don’t consider myself a mean windstone hoarder/reseller. If I’m correct it was a pearl griffin chick I sold that got a lot of people on the forum furious with me. I had a buy it now that was more what I paid, but at the moment I was trying to buy a house and needed cash quick for an inspection or I would loose my chance to get it.
LOL! Though it failed inspection i the end anyway, 🙄 I was desperate at the moment and they were in crazy demand and I didn’t have any other options to get the money in time. Being a collector I REALLY didn’t want to sell any of my other Windstones, and I knew eventually I could get another chick since they were hot off the press basically. I felt bad afterwards, but I was in a pinch and it was an easy choice to make at that moment. 😳Though I also get really irritated with stores/ebayers *I wont mention names* who, for example, buy up tons of emerald peacock and red fire curlies just to resell them at $200 – $230 buy it nows the next day and leave the store empty for everyone else. In fairness they got to there first I suppose and Windstone shouldn’t refuse a sale, but you can’t help but be angry about it, I agree. I used to piss and moan about it all the time in fact now that I’m remembering! hahaha!
Unfortunately, sometimes it happens, but we all know who on the forums do it regularly and who does it just to try and get out of a desperate moment in our life. In Dragoncaverns case I remember that in the beginning she wasn’t very liked on the forum because of a certain PYO auction, so I’m sure she wasn’t very comfortable posting in the Flea Market about selling.
I guess I’m just trying to be the voice of reason, but I’m sure I just got someone mad at me 😆 I’m sorry in advance. I was just trying to clear the air so we could all feel comfortable enough to beg for our hatchers once again!!! 🙂

For the record, I have no problem with those that are grouping together to buy for each other (which is part of why I made this forum 🙂 BUT I also have no problem for those that would resell items on eBay for a high price. I support both actions equally.I have never seen anyone ‘buy up’ an item only to list them on eBay. Yes- I have seen an individual buy a few of a single item, and yes I have seen a few of these items go up on eBay. But we are talking 2-3 pieces, not 20 or 30. Understandably, some items that are being listed in the store are in limited quantities of 40-100 pieces, so there are fewer to go around to begin with. However your blanket statement of ‘buying up’ pieces seems inaccurate and a little unfair.
I find it curious that you are brazenly against ‘greedy eBay sellers that buy up pieces’ and yet you are doing the same thing, but not for profit. Instead of a forum member purchasing a few extras to redistribute to other collectors on eBay, you are suggesting that you all group so that one or more persons can buy them up to redistribute to other collectors. This is no more fair to those not in your ‘group’ than it would be if someone was doing it for profit. Not all collectors are on the forum nor will all know about this plan or want to participate. I am not saying that I disapprove- I am simply astounded by the hypocritical nature of this argument. 😉

I think the reason people got mad at you was not because you sold the griffin chicks for a high amount, but because you had just been in the forum, with guns blazing!! over those that would buy an item then sell it for a lot more than the original price. 😉 It came off as hypocritical. I know your situation warranted getting money- fast, and that’s okay. I just wanted to let you know why folks were cranky. 😉

Honestly- maybe I’m missing something, but can you show me where folks have purchased ‘tons’ of these dragons to resell? I’ve only seen a few on eBay (in stores or normal listings).
Finally, in closing, I’ll post something that Dave said in an earlier conversation. He is far more eloquent than I am in this matter!

What Windstone needs is more collectors like ultdragonian. Whenever something like this happens, the people with money take notice. The more people there are who are buying Windstones because they seem to promise a good return for the investment, when sold on the secondary market, the more people there are who will buy primary market statues (which is where Windstone makes their money). This is, as far as I can tell, the goal of the Windstone company; to sell fine art to people who, for whatever reason, appreciate fine art.
Windstone Editions could sell a whole bunch of Dragons by reducing the price, making them out of cheap resin, assembly line painting them, and distributing them through the less prestigious chain stores. Windstone could be quite profitable doing that, and I’d imagine they’d hate every dime that came in.
You wouldn’t buy their “sculptures”, and I wouldn’t sell them, but there would be a million people out there who would jump at the chance to own a piece of crap dragon for $24.99.
I say all power to ultdragonian for setting the reserve price at what he thought the statue was really worth.

I probably shouldnt have had an outburst like that here, and I am sorry. But, this was not the first time I had been (now feeling) “harrassed” by something sooo trivial. All I did was offer to help if they wanted. And them “BLAM” I get hit upside the head again with NASTY Emails(PM’s) AND a post in here.
I didnt find that amusing, and I was VERY HURT by it, and had, had it with the nasty bashing emails and “posts” here on the forum, in which I did “nothing” wrong to deserve that. That shouldnt happen to ANYONE. And I dont care “who” they are. I think of us “all” as family, and should act like it as well. Like DragOn said…”So we can get back to the topic” (pretty much). Because, once those 2 posts (1 by me), even “I” noticed ALL postings by everyone stopped. And thats not cool by me, by any standard. This shouldnt be a hostile environment. This isnt why I come here.I have been collecting Windstones for near 20 years now. YES, I said 20 😉 😆 . I HATE selling something for more than what I paid, I feel REAL bad, EVEN though the item “IS” worth it.. but if someone wants one because there is only “SAID AMOUNT” of them, and they want to buy them, then thats thier choice. I personally feel its NOT up to “US” to decide that.
The only thing that I disagree with is.. charging a high price for the item (Making profit already), and then charging DOUBLE to TRIPLE the actual costs for shipping on top of that. For example…and I “have” seen this… Curlie sells for $230…shipping: $15+! It DOESNT cost $15+ to ship a curlie…sheesh. 😯 😕 🙄Anyhow, I am ranting now..and will stop. 🙄 😆 .

My word, I go to work for a day and everyone goes wild. XD But in the name of dropping the subject of old arguments and preserving the peace, let’s move on to bosky’s question.
I think the general idea that we have here is people who are willing buy an extra or two ( let’s be realistic, they’re $75 – $100 apiece as it is, and who can afford to put 10 of each on their credit card? o.O; ) sell their extra to one of the people that can’t be here to get what they want for store price + shipping. I’d say that if the person doing the buying is also purchasing for themselves, then they could charge the needy person for half the shipping from the store to them. If they’re only buying for someone else, then of course the other person should be charged for the whole thing. Otherwise, the needy (can’t think of what else to call us) should pay for all shipping from the buyer to them, in addition to the original half from the store to the buyer. You’d be spending a little more than you would if you bought straight from the store, but that’s life, right? >.>
The list I made is to give people willing to help an idea of what’s wanted, and by whom. If someone is wanting to be a buyer for another person specifically, they should probably PM whoever they pick, to get their address and things. When the needy gets confirmation that what they want has been bought, I reckon they should say so in here, so we can cross them off the list! That way, if there are leftovers, or a buyer who just wants to help no one in particular (just any ol needy person will do!), they can be offered to anyone not crossed off. I’m hoping we have enough to not worry about anyone not being crossed off, but if there is someone…that’s a tough one. I guess all we could do if there were none left in the store, is keep an eye out on ebay and elsewhere for them. = That should probably be moved to the Wishlist, though, since this list is for things that have a chance of appearing in the store again.
If we actually end up with more than we need, they can just be listed in the flea market or ebay(for regular price + shipping, since we’re basically kind of trying to make these available to more people), and will probably be snatched up immediately. Or, if the person is wanting to make a profit by selling the rest on ebay for more, that’s their business. =) No fussing at them allowed.
My head kinda hurts right now, so if any of that was unclear, sorry, and let me know so I can fix whatever it is, or we can puzzle out how to deal with it. t.t Can anyone think of any other points we might want to address?
Remember, like Nam said, only do this if you feel safe doing business with your ‘partner’ or ‘partners’, should you have more than one. This isn’t ebay, so we have no power over them. = Except that of ostracizing them…heh.
I personally don’t mind buying for someone else. And while paying the CC bill at the end of the month would be hard I do have a large enough credit limit to “help” out. But I would want confirmation from my “needy” and Paypal in advance of shipping from my house. Other wise if I got stuck with an extra (yeah right 😆 ) you will see it up on ebay and I would certainly hope I made a tidy sum on it…to help defray my expenses.
