I have similar issues sometimes. Have you tried “o’keeffe’s working hands” cream? It’s great and available at CVS, Walmart, most RX’s. Here’s a link to their site: http://okeeffescompany.com/index.php?page=working-hands&gclid=COSb5rTzhLsCFYtQOgodLQMAUg
Never heard of it. But now that it comes with a recommendation, I’ll have to check it out. Thanks! The store locator says it’s available locally so I shouldn’t have too much trouble getting my hands on some =)
December 3, 2013 at 10:10 pm #906047USPS whine today, well I bought a male unicorn on ebay, he was only about an hour away from me which I and the seller didn’t notice until after he shipped it and contacted me…so I thought oh no big deal here, just will take maybe a day or two….it hadn’t updated in tracking last night so I go to check it today, turns out it went the opposite direction of me to two different cities….after dealing with the automated line and then waiting nearly 40 minutes on hold, the lady basically tells me that they oppsed but there’s nothing they can do until tomorrow if I want to open a case, they don’t have any way of contacting the driver or or the post office it’s sitting at (suuuuurrrre I believe that) …..moving on, there’s a slight chance of it getting here tomorrow but more than likely Thursday, lovely….
so how did it go the wrong way to two wrong cities and no one noticed? and I don’t believe they can’t do anything about it…stupid USPS….

http://www.sarahjestin.com/feedbacklists.htmDecember 4, 2013 at 1:46 am #906060Just need to whine. The dry air combined with a need to frequently wash my hands is causing me excessively dry skin on the backs of my hands. It’s so bad, that it’s either cracking and bleeding in places (my knuckles look like I went 12 rounds with a wall), or looks like I kept burning my hand against a hot iron in others. It hurts so bad all the time! Moisturizing and Vitamin E soaps have only provided minimal relief. The nurses at my work highly recommended two skin care products, however, they both contain petroleum or other refined oil based ingredients. Which I’m trying to avoid, so I’m using them sparingly. And night is the only time I can use these products as they get washed off in the frequent hand washing. I think I’m going to buy coconut oil tomorrow and maybe soak gloves in it and wear them every night lol Maybe this will become a Heck Yeah soon enough =)
My aunt’s a florist and her hands are also very dry. She said that when it gets really bad, she slathers on regular hand cream and puts on small cotton socks on her hands just before going to bed. Dunno if that would be any help…

I have to drive to work really early in the morning, before the sun is out and before the roads are likely to be plowed so I might be doomed. I wish my Bronco was running right now, but I’m stuck driving the Honda. I’m wondering if it will even budge from its spot on the side of the street when I try to leave, lol.
I miss California!

December 5, 2013 at 2:14 am #906113Is that 8 degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit? It’s -18 Celsius in Calgary today and has been really cold since we had a big snow storm on the weekend. The road was so slippery where our car is parked, we couldn’t even get our truck to move two feet so I have been stuck at home for 3 days now. We are going to try again to get it out tonight or get someone to push it out as we have a bad tire that just skids on the ice.
Looking for rainbow or pink & teal grab bags!
December 6, 2013 at 12:43 am #906182^Fahrenheit! Now it’s 2 degrees.
Good luck!

Yup our first big deep freeze of the year 🙁
Right now its -24 Celsius (-11 Fahrenheit) and -35 Celsius (-31 Fahrenheit) with the wind-chill and there are areas of the city that are still buried in the snow (3 days later)December 6, 2013 at 5:14 am #906212My aunt’s a florist and her hands are also very dry. I think I will start covering my hands in cotton socks at night. The socks seem like a great method to keep the lotion on and are cheaper (free!) and more readily available than cotton gloves. I’m going to raid my dresser tonight.
My hands have improved tremendously since that whine. Each day it gets better. At night, I’ve been applying a modified homemade lotion recipe a member sent me, and during the day, just babying my hands. =)
December 11, 2013 at 2:53 am #906402AHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I need to scream briefly. It’s been a rotten, terrible week (and we’re only two days in!) Nothing horrible, thus just a whine.
1.) All my clients have gone insane. They want to finish everything we have in progress before 12/20 because they are going on vacation. Looks like it’s back to 60+ hour weeks for a bit. Whee!!!
2.) My Christmas tree fell over. Busted ornaments, flooded livingroom, got bashed by the tree trying to get it upright again, took HOURS to get it all fixed.
3.) Finals week – and trying to do finals with collapsing Christmas trees and 12 hour work days.
4.) Nasty (for Oregon) weather which has cancelled school for the kids and added to the chaos.
5.) In my web development class we’re required to use an external hosting site for our final project. Final was due tonight. The site is down with no ETA on when it will be back up.
6.) And NOW the college website is down too so I can’t even find out when it might be fixed.
7.) I forgot I had to pick up something I ordered today. The pick up is about a 5 minute drive from my house, but my husband took my car (I can’t drive his – it’s a stick shift). I remembered the pick up about 2 minutes after the guy was supposed to leave. Chaos and calling all over got the guy to wait until someone else could pick up the order for me (no second chance to pick up – today or nothing).
8.) Then the order was wrong.
Everyone is healthy again and we’re really pretty lucky – but GAH! I need a pillow to go scream into! LOL
Also, 2 quest questions were posted tonight since all the other stuff kept me from it yesterday. LOL
December 11, 2013 at 3:26 am #906403I hope this doesn’t sound stupid, but my young self is coming out…I AM SO BOOOAARRDD!
I’ve been home all day, can’t paint cause my hands are really shaky today, can’t work with the pipe cleaners cause I’m too spacy, and thank the lord for spell check cause I just not functioning today. Never realized how foggy my brain really was after these till I tried to do an “easy” sudoku puzzle this morning. Three hours and I put it down, cause the numbers are confusing the heck out of me I just can’t focus and process them.
…..and I can’t go anywhere as my bike is still in the backroom at work because of yesterday, not that I should anyways, I am EXHAUSTED and so sleepy from yesterday, and I have to saty up all night long…OMG
WHINE…

But I hear you! It’s frustrating to pour so much of yourself into a project and not get the recognition/financial rewards that you deserve is very hard. You are obviously a fine artist and your ball-dolls (?) are adorable. If you think about it, tho, most artists don’t get the rewards they should for their level of excellence…the rest of us non-talented people just don’t have the resources to support you as you deserve. So hang in there (and maybe get some marketing advice?)- we love your work! :love:No body is non talented, ya just gotta figure out what you can do, and how you can improve,. we is all different. So try somthing different. You never fail, you just find out one way that didn’t work. So try another. 🙂

The search for my friend and his family whose plane went down in Idaho back country has been called off. Search will resume in spring after snow melt. Thanks to all who helped with sat. images. Those were terribly diffcult shots to work with…

December 17, 2013 at 3:57 am #906574I found out that the tests on a mole I had removed came back as irregular, and she said a certain name for it but I can’t remember it. She described it as “funny looking cells” and now I have an appointment in a month to have either an excision or a punch biopsy done before I can know more.
A bit scared. :~ Partly because of the potential for it being something bad and partly because this is an area I don’t want mutilated by the doctors (the mole was on my breast!).I also got several little itchy bumps (flesh colored, not red) which are mostly on my arms and that seem like bug bites only they’re not. The first one showed up around the beginning of November and only about a week and a half ago did the others present themselves. Wtf?
Also since the dermatologist seemed pretty sure there was nothing wrong with the mole she removed when I had her remove it for me (yet here it is apparently irregular), she was obviously mistaken about that. I knew it had changed and developed a different tone around it because I know my body. I’m wondering if she’s also wrong about the other couple of moles I pointed out to her which have been developing redness around them and seem kind of scabby. She was like “Oh it seems to be a pattern with you, since more than 1 mole seems to have that redness around it. Don’t worry.” Ok lady, I know my body and I know when things are changing. Whether it’s bad or not I don’t know. I guess I’ll try talking about those moles again while I’m there plus mentioning the other itchy bumps- even if they’re gone by then I’ll let her know I had them. I’m really trying not to be paranoid but it’s kind of hard, especially after getting a phone call like that… now I get to wait a month (and then some days after that!).
Being somewhat of a hypochondriac (not a super serious one, but still to a degree), my mind jumps to “Cancer! You have cancer!” Ugh.Also: I’m supposed to pay for this crap?! :O
