I thought I was getting sick – killer sore throat all of yesterday, and persisting. Scratching, and coughing, and generally just being raw and sore. I had forgotten how miserable such a simple little ailment like sort throat can make you!
But tonight, I’m up because I’m somewhat nauseous, enough to keep me awake at any rate. Not really a symptom of strep or a cold that I’m aware of.
I’m starting to highly suspect acid reflux 🙁 I had a lot of issues with that and heartburn while on Zoloft. But my medication has not recently changed, and I haven’t eaten anything spicy in the past days. So I have no idea what caused it!
Anyway, I’m wide awake at 3 AM. I’m feeling pretty mopey about it.
I have chronic migraines so at times it feels like I’m always sick. 🙁 I have to plan every event around the very likely possibility of my headaches worsening to the point of not being able to ignore. So when I get SICK on top of that, I get so fed up with my body!
Why can’t my parts just work the way they are intended? Can I return them for an exchange or a store credit??
WHINE!
I have suffered from migraines from the time I was 2 years old. Bad enough that as a child I was taken to the ER to get morphine for them and even that never helped, so that so called fix wasn’t tried more than a few time. I lived most of my life with them (they started when I was 2 years old my mom says and I’m 44 now) until about 7 years ago. I finally decided to try acupuncture. I figured what the hell I have tried everything else and nothing ever helped.
I went once a week for about 2 months and within the first 3 weeks my migraines went from 3 weeks a month down to one or two days a week.
Then it was reduced to going once every 2 weeks. By this time when I did get a migraine it was at least one I could mostly kinda ignore.
I then dropped to going for treatment to once a month for 6 months. Since then I haven’t been back and I get maybe 4 migraines a year. And they are very rarely so bad that I can’t see anymore.
I don’t know if this will help you. But it might be worth a shot if you haven’t already tried it.
Either way,get better soon! HugsLooking for:

My migraines didn’t kick in til I was about… 13? 14? Whenever it was I first started getting my period. I didn’t understand and I thought they were just really bad headaches. Now I know that headaches aren’t usually accompanied by the trembling weakness, photophobia and host of other issues!
I have a whole list of things I’m going to try now that we finally have benefits (literally just got them this past couple weeks.) Massage, chiropractics and acupuncture are all on the list 🙂 I’m tentatively excited. I don’t really remember what it was like to just… not always be in pain, you know? That’s without hyperbole; I’ve learned to tune out the lowest levels but it’s always there.
February 19, 2016 at 8:10 am #942249Hahaha!!! Store credit!!!!
Sorry you’re not feeling well…maybe you could upgrade to version 10.1? 😉
I’ve often felt like if I could just trade in my skull, maybe my brain wouldn’t be in such pain all the time! :p
Oh, and I’m currently unable to sleep and buried under a mountain of tissues now. Definitely a cold/flu at this point.
I’m used to migraines, but I don’t get sick very often. A simple little cold and I’m such a mess.

I am the WORST sick person you will every know !!! It’s like the world is coming to an end and EVERYONE needs to stop what they’re doing and look at how sick I am hahahahaha!!
I feel your migraine-pain. I know I’m getting one when my headache starts behind my left eye. Within minutes, if I don’t take something for it, I’ll be blind and vomiting in no time. I would say they were worse than a cold/flu, but I’m with you on that one…I can usually get a migraine under control, but a bug? cold/flu? FORGET IT! Someone who didn’t know me, would think “OMG, what happened to her? Is she gonna die?” …. “No, Grasshopper, she just has a head cold! Ignore her!” lol!!!

Yes try them all, just know those treatments generally all take a few goes before you notice the difference if there is going to be one.
I learned at a very early age to ignore the pain n plow through it, which, looking back I am sure made some of the migraines worse. But, You still have to find a way to get things done no matter how badly you are shaking. Or how much hearing someone breathing 4 rooms away makes you want to vomit because the headache makes it seem SO loud. Always amazed me how much a migraine seems to heighten the sensitivity to any light or sense of hearing and smell.Hopefully one or a combination of the treatments will work for you and quickly.
If acupuncture worries you with the needles, I’d say the needles, most of them you can barely feel as they go in, they are super tiny, just long and they barely break the surface of the skin with them.
I actually ended up really enjoying the acupuncture. It was a time I got to lay still and just relax for an hour.Looking for:

4. September Raffle Prize 2022 AHD Male GriffinMarch 12, 2016 at 3:12 am #943292Thanks for your insight on your migraines. My son has had them since he was very young as well. At times it has been pretty scary. In kindergarten he had one that left him with weakness and a droopy face on one side. He was in the hospital for 2 days while they tried to figure out what was going on. The tested him for meningitis and staph infection but in the end it was determined to be another migraine made worst because he had a viral flu thing happening. You don’t hear of such young kids having headaches that much so your perspective is interesting to me. He had a pretty bad one yesterday so I have been researching alternative ways to deal with it. One question if you don’t mind my asking did they affect your stomache when you were young? Did you get a lot of stomache aches? I have been reading about abdominal migraines and it really does fit what is happening to him.

Hi, yes my migraines have always made me very sick to my stomach as well. I believe this did make diagnosing them more difficult as the doctors wanted it to be some stomach flu with a side order of headache.
When in reality it was (and still is, when I get one) that my head hurts so bad. Add in the extreme sensitivity to noise, light and movement and it makes me sick to my stomach.
When I have a migraine I can literally hear someone breathing 4 rooms away with all the doors closed between them and me. And its like hearing someone scratching their nails down a chalkboard non stop for as long as they are close enough to hear.
I don’t remember clearly when I was really young if actually vomiting made the headache better or not. But I do know now that a lot of the times If I do get sick it seems to somehow reduce the pain from the headache. I am pretty sure it did when I was small as well as I cant remember being able to even try to fall asleep from the pain until after I got sick.I can also say that some of my migraine triggers are almost instant, such as the smell of bleach and the smell or taste of nutmeg and cumin. Those will affect me with 2-3 minutes of being around them as will almost all candle scents and those glade plug in type of things and febreeze. I cant even walk down those aisles in the stores. People who smoke I can smell 5 cars away in a parking lot and that can trigger a migraine as well for me.
A few other triggers wont trigger for up to 3 days, such as processed meats (Lunch meats, hot dogs) to much sugar and overly processed cheese such as velveeta and the powdered stuff you find in a lot of mac n cheese products.
With sugar I have to really go overboard on it though. The others I can do ok with but I have to be sure to keep it to one serving (as stated on the package) per week.I tend to use all natural type of products with essential oils in them because a lot of the chemicals they use in cleaners are known triggers for people with migraines. If you have anything that you dry clean, the chemicals used in that can trigger them as can a lot of the stuff used in carpet shampooers. And those are residual too, meaning just because you cleaned it today doesn’t mean it wont trigger migraines for weeks or months to come.
I hope this helps. Feel free to message me if you have any more questions. I really feel for your little boy. I know just how bad it is for him. Good luck!

"COSMIC SHIFT DRAGONS and KI-RINS" and the "OCTOPUS TANUKI TEST PAINT #1"March 13, 2016 at 3:44 am #943306Thanks very much StormDancer. It does really help. I think I’m going to start a food diary. See if anything stands out. Regarding the abdominal migraines sometimes though he seems to get flu like symptoms then end up with a headache. Throws up first. Feels dizzy. Then a migraine. Weird.
March 13, 2016 at 11:53 am #943313Yes, a year or two of a food diary can be great, even if it can be a pain to remember to write down everything, even the stuff he might get at school or a friends house. It’s the only way to catch the longer trigger points.
With my migraines when I was younger I did get a stomach ache first.I remember rocking back and forth holding a pillow as tight as I could against my stomach it hurt so much. Then having a headache show up somewhere in there, then usually getting sick. I don’t remember getting dizzy very often but I do know it happened on occasion and still will at times. Now I get the upset stomach and the headache hit all pretty close to the same time.
A lot of the time I can tell now if one is coming, if I can catch it at that stage before the pain hits, excedrin migraine will help prevent it from getting bad. None of the other migraine meds ever did any good for me at all. I have no idea why an over the counter one helps when all the prescriptions did not, but I am very very grateful that it does. Maybe it might for your son as well, if you can catch it early enough.
I really hope he is lucky enough to outgrows his soon.Looking for:

March 31, 2016 at 8:13 pm #943744Two dead and one super sick cat in my feral colony in less than a week, sick cat showed clean on a blood test, no feline parvo, no leukemia, no aids. She is recovering, vet doesn’t know what it could have been. Scored a free feline necropsy from friend of the family for the dead feral, Go Aggies!, but yeah, I feel like I’m in a war zone.
Anyone use home security cameras and can recommended a good outdoor brand and model? I need to catch it happening apparently.
