That is terrible and has to be nerve wracking. I am so sorry Peg. 🙁 At least he is ok.
June 26, 2007 at 5:25 pm #571452Yeah I feel so bad for the families. One of the wives is with the FRG at the brigade level too. I was wondering why I hadn’t heard from my husband after he called on my birthday, but I figured he wasn’t calling since he knew I would be travelling. I don’t watch the news much so I didn’t know there was a reason for a communications blackout.
The men who died were a major, a staff sergeant, a corporal and a private first class. The injured was a staff sergeant.
June 26, 2007 at 5:45 pm #571453I’m glad your husband is all right, but I feel so bad for the other soldiers and their families. 🙁
June 26, 2007 at 6:42 pm #571454I am also glad that you husband is alright. It is sad to hear about the other soldiers tho.
August 6, 2007 at 3:29 am #571455Hubby’s still doing good. Been having a blast taking a combatives class. It reminds him so much of the Aikido he used to do before he joined the Army that it actually has him smiling. He’s gotten some of the old “spring back in his step” because of it.
Course now I have to tell him that our favorite new show, The Dresden Files, has been cancelled by the stupid execs at SciFi Channel. At least we will always have the books, the first season and soon the role playing game. I plan on buying the DVDs when they are released this week.
He’s taken an interest in Criss Angel’s Mindfreak and magic tricks in general now so I’ll probably be getting him stuff from the shows Web site for care packages.
August 6, 2007 at 2:35 pm #571456I’m glad your husband is doing so well! He still has a long time to go, doesn’t he?
SciFi channel is not always known for it’s good decision making. I do enjoy the books, but I haven’t seen the show.
August 6, 2007 at 3:15 pm #571457He’s still got another year to go. I’m glad that he’s found something to keep him motivated to do things. His unit wants to send him to the board for a promotion and he’s been having a hard time making himself study so we’ve made an agreement that if he does get promoted that I’ll order something he really wants from the Criss Angel Web site as a reward (it cost ~$200 so would truly be a reward).
Nope SciFi Channel hasn’t been know for its good decision making lately. They only repeated one of the episodes after the season was over and nothing since. That’s not a way to bring in potential fans. Some folks I know missed the show the first time around and were planning on catching the reruns only to discover there were no reruns.
October 1, 2007 at 6:49 pm #571458So “tomorrow” is a big day for my husband. He goes to the promotion board in hopes of becoming a SGT. He’s a little nervous (and so am I) but I know he will do fine.
He passed it up when he was in Germany, because at that time he wasn’t planning on staying in the Army and said to give his spot to someone who really wanted it. Then when he got here to Fort Stewart his name was stricken from the automatic promotion list due to a SGT taking a dislike to him. All he did was ask the SGT why they were doing something the way they were and the SGT took it as he was questioning his orders. All my husband was doing was trying to understand so he could do his job better! No one really liked working with that SGT though.
Now he has finally gotten up the nerve to try to go to the promotion board. He realizes that it would look a lot better on resumes if he gets out of the Army as a SGT rather than a Specialist. Plus a little extra money each month won’t hurt either.
October 1, 2007 at 6:55 pm #571459Good luck to hubby!!

October 1, 2007 at 9:48 pm #571463Like everybody said we are always here if you need to vent or help with anything else that comes along. Thoughts and prayers are with you always. Don’t hesitate to yell if you need us.
October 1, 2007 at 9:52 pm #571464Best of luck to your hubby, Peg!!! 🙂
October 2, 2007 at 3:45 pm #571465Just to let everyone know he passed! He got a 145/150. Now it’s just a matter of points dropping so he can get picked up. They get points for the intervies, for commander’s recommnedation, schooling, PT test scores and probably other things I’m not aware of. If I understand what he’s been telling me correctly, the points for October and November are already set so he can’t get pinned those months. But the points for December aren’t set yet, so if they match the amount of points he has he’ll get the promotion then. Yay!
😆 Now I have to get on the Criss Angel Web site and order the set my husband wants and I said he could have if he passed.
