Edit: I’m sure it will be an adjustment! My hubby and I were long distance our entire relationship pretty much (he moved to my city and within a few weeks of moving he proposed), and it was always an adjustment when we’d spend time together after so long apart.
Yay for you and him!
I remember it being an adjustment when I moved in with Colin after a year of long distance – me in Edmonton, he in Grande Prairie, certainly not overseas, by any means, but without a vehicle, may as well have been! All I’ll say is I’m glad they had the voicechat on MSN or my phone bill would have killed me…
But still, at least you can put your excitement to cleaning or getting stuff that needs to be done before he gets home done… not that you’ll be very productive (I’ve been there) but it might be a bit of a distraction, right?

June 15, 2008 at 8:49 pm #571543I wish I could give a more concrete date, but I have to protect operational security. I don’t have an exact date yet, I can say that he should be home some time before the end of next month. I’ll be sure to post about it here that’s for sure!
Hubby and I are actually used to being apart, as we’ve probably spent half of our relationship long distance. When we started dating we lived about 300 miles apart. Then he joined the army and went to boot camp and AIT stretching the distance. We got engaged just before he got his first duty station – Germany for two years. He came home, we got married, and he got stationed at Fort Stewart just as 3ID was returning from OIF 1. We had the next year and a half together before he was deployed for 12 months. He was home for 18 months before deploying this last time.
It will be nice to have him all to myself (well sharing him with family and friends of course). Living together will definately take some adjustment. 😀
June 15, 2008 at 10:07 pm #571544Keep busy and he’ll be home before you know it. 😉
June 15, 2008 at 10:38 pm #571545I am so happy Kyrin!!
July 3, 2008 at 6:56 pm #571546I’m trying to be patient. I keep looking at the list of Welcome Home ceremonies listed on the base Web site and sigh as each day passes and it isn’t my turn to go to the field to pick him up. I know it will be my turn very soon though.
At least I’m not like one of my friends whose husband has been tapped for something similar to rear guard. He won’t be home until next month. He’ll be missing his oldest son’s birthday again this year.
July 3, 2008 at 7:20 pm #571547I hope you get good news soon, peg!
July 3, 2008 at 9:51 pm #571548The waiting would drive me crazy!!! How far in advance do they let you know?
July 3, 2008 at 10:07 pm #571549😆 It’s driving me crazy too. My husband had “unoffically” told me which flight he is on. Sometime in the 24 hours before he comes home I should get an “offical” call from telling me which flight he’s on (Basically once his butt is on the plane coming home). 😆
July 3, 2008 at 10:09 pm #571550Well, I hope you get the “official” word very soon!!!!
July 4, 2008 at 12:01 am #571551Me, too! Im so excited for you!!!
July 4, 2008 at 2:37 am #571552That’s wonderful news
July 4, 2008 at 3:04 am #571553It’s wonderful that he’s coming home soon! Hope you get that official call quick, and that Murphy’s Law does not apply and that it’s not at the most inconvenient moment possible. 😆
July 4, 2008 at 3:11 am #571554If he comes in when he has told me he’s supposed it it’s going to be down right inconvenient to pick him up. Why they insist on having welcome home ceremonies in the wee hours of the mornings I’ll never understand.
July 4, 2008 at 3:13 am #571555That does sound pretty silly. 😕
