What’s the timeframe looking like for this Kickstarter? Is it coming up fast or do we still have a while?
January 25, 2018 at 4:38 pm #1534867Wow, those are all amazing! Would we be able to pick one we want or would they be like a grab bag? If they are pricey though it would be hard to trade them as grab bags so would it be possible to say which ones we love or say a preference for colours? I would love one with lots of pink and less orange!
I am still thinking about how to do this. I am hesitant to do a totally blind grab bag for the big poads because (hopefully) there will be new people backing the project who are not savvy about Windstone GB swaps, and might end up with a poad™ they don’t like. I might try having a place on the page where these fancy poads, and an assortment of other ones, are pictured, so people can select one they want. I’ll then put a “spoken for” mark across the poad … or they can have the option of “surprise me”. That is one idea. .
From what I know of Kickstarter, trying to let people choose the actual poad they want is going to be a nightmare. There will always be a few people whose credit cards come back unable to process, not to mention that you’d have to either offer a TON of reward tiers so you could have a pic for each one of the poads so it could be claimed. Otherwise, if you’re letting people pick, people are going to feel shorted if their pick comes up later in the luck of the draw- if they’re the last one to pick they don’t really have a choice, right?
I’d suggest you maybe have a “pick of the clutter” tier level and sell only 5 or so slots. That would cost more than JUST a blind grab bag poad, and the people who pledge that amount could be certain they’d get at LEAST one of their top five.
Another tier you might want to have is a painting commission by you, or Gina, etc. For that pledge, they could ask you to do, say, a red-eyed unicorn with paint puke or whatever they desired (Like in the PYO exchange). Obviously, this would be just a few spots of people to pledge, and quite expensive.
And then the regular poads could be a Grab Bag level where you explain grab bags like you do in the store now. People might be new, but as long as they read they’ll know what they’re getting into.
And obviously, it’s YOUR project, so feel to consider any of this advice and discard anything that doesn’t seem like a good idea to you.

January 25, 2018 at 5:30 pm #1534869As Natasha indicated, I have seen similar special reward tiers that revolve around one specific painting or item, such as a special meeting/piece/etc with the artist/organizer/etc. It would be unwieldly to do a special tier reward for each colored Poad. If you want to do a Reward Tier for a blind GB of the different Poad color schemes – that may be more realistic.
For example, if you have 100 FishFin RuffleButt Adult Poads available, and 50 Reptangle Veg Adult Poads, you could have one reward tier that had 100 pledge ‘spots’ available for the FishFin RuffleButts, and one for the Reptangle Vegs with 50 pledge ‘spots’. The same for the other pieces you have too – like the Adult-Baby Poad matching sets. Then items like the magnets, pins and Bean Poads could perhaps be ‘Add-ons’ if you feel you have enough of them, or just have them as lower cost reward tiers. You certainly can go crazy with the variety of options ….. I’m sure that we’ll love anything you do though!

January 26, 2018 at 4:19 am #1534875Really great suggestions, so far!
With so many Poads (and that’s not even counting other tiers), I think that keeping things simple is wise. Is there a way to write a note along with a pledge when it’s made? If yes, maybe backers could leave suggestions as to what color scheme of Poad they like best?
January 26, 2018 at 4:32 am #1534879WOW that are some headaches associated with this.Personally I would be happy with any one of them.Just look at them!!!!!

Male Hearth....one day🤞Dream on.February 2, 2018 at 10:26 am #1535112I think it would be really cumbersome to try and allow any type of Poad selection process. You don’t want to slow the contributions down. You are just asking people to help out and oh by the way, get a cool little Poad for being part of the process. Having some higher pledge amounts with a special reward, could also be very successful. For example, if you pledge $1000, you get a custom painted unicorn/dragon/griffin. If you pledge $500, you get a custom painted baby unicorn/pegasus/dragon. You have to balance the time spent fulfilling the pledge, versus the cash reward.
Always looking for a lovely GB Young Unicorns, TP Male Dragons or TP Male Griffins!
February 2, 2018 at 12:13 pm #1535113This whole thing will be a nightmare circus! I can’t wait. Seriously, it will be fun. (normal Grab bag shipping days are crazy enough for Susie!)
The “special” poads are photo’d and numbered , sorta like a class pic. I am going to allow people to claim the one they want in the comment section of the Kickstarter page. I may post the class pic, (and maybe I can get Bipolarbear to do a live stream of them, if he has time) ahead of time so people can get ready to jump. As people claim them I will mark the poads as claimed on the photo. I can update photos “live” while the kickstarter is running, but this will only work while I am online watching… hmm…maybe people will need to have first and second and third choices… like I said, this will be a circus.
The two biggest grab bag ruffle butt poads ( adults, babies ) will be semi-grab-bag. I will attempt to select the poad colors IF someone has a strong preference or allergy to certain colors. This is because I hope to have new people participate ; people who are not aware that they can swap their grabbags on the forum. I don’t want to disappoint anyone with a poad they don’t like!
The minibean poads are pure random grab bag!
None of these items will be limited. If I run out, I can paint more. It will be about 11 weeks or more before the kickstarter rewards are ready to ship, so I’ll have plenty of time to paint more,
but I have painted over 300 poads for this, I think there will be plenty!
Custom painted pieces? oy vey.. I need to think about that one!

I would love to include some recommendations for “The Veligent” comic from readers! People have given me some really nice comments over the years that I plan to include somehow on the KS page. If you guys have something to say about it, like, what sort of person you would recommend it to?
I would like to also include a link ( if I am allowed to include external links on KS ) or at least mention your own art page or book(s) too, if that is okay with you!
post comments here or use my email. Let me know if I can use your real name, or if I should use your online name, or pen name, or what.
Thank you!

Don’t forget – this is the Windstone Forum, so most of the comments here are focused on Windstones. However, the purpose of the Kickstarter is to supposed to be to sell books (not to sell Poads).
In other words, in my opinion, having custom painted pieces won’t affect whether someone is buying a book. I don’t think that custom pieces belong in this Kickstarter. Maybe custom painted pieces would be appropriate if you ever do the Hoarder dragon as a Kickstarter.
February 2, 2018 at 12:54 pm #1535117We have found a real live PROFESSIONAL videographer (however you spell that) to help me (meaning , do most of it) with the videos, so when we get those monsters finished, I can start really get going on this. The videos are the hardest part.
The KS page is laid out, the sculpture rewards are finished . I need to recheck the math, work out some final details, and we are ready to launch!
I will post a link to the non-live page when it is closer to being finished so you guys can critique it, and correct my spell’n . I can change stuff if I need to.
February 2, 2018 at 3:34 pm #1535121I am so excited for the kickstarter! I’m right in line with Ela_Hara, ready and waiting!
