<3_<3 Those are beautiful! I just love the colors. I think the top two are my favorite. Did you do that orchid arrangement yourself? I've never seen anything like it.
October 27, 2011 at 4:22 pm #861047EDIT: JENNIFER’S NOTE TO HERSELF because otherwise I would forget: Do not use these ones, use the ones later in this tread by Megan01
Hi Everyone,
OK, Its a much nicer day already! Thank you to everyone who has helped me!!! I really spent a lot of time on this project but Im not very computer savvy so It was getting pretty frustrating that I finally had all these to share but couldnt so THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!! I appologize this is SO LONG!!! I know I can only submit 3 but I thought I could use your help in deciding. I had a hard time choosing because of the time I put into each one so please, let me know which you like best 🙂 The last picture is definitly staying though so theres only 2 additional ones that can stay 🙁
All the others will be deleted on 10/31 before I take my kids out for some trick or treating! Thank you again for all your support and help!! I hope you like these enough to want to see one in the calender if Im actually picked as one of the 13! The other pictures posted by other members are all so beautiful and inspiring. I wish we could all win 🙂
The first “set” Consists of The retired Black Male Unicorn, The White Grand, and The entire White Family of Unicorns. I tried capturing “moments” of them either together or apart as they might look in “The Wild” 🙂 The Last Grand was the most challenging of all (in this set). I had to contort in strange positions, as if I looked like I was playing a game of “twister” over a game board of rock, sand, grit, and LOTS of water. I am happy to report that no unicorns were injured during this photo shoot :p
This Is My Pintaloosa Family. The young is a Grab bag and was named “Metronome”. Since Metronome is a device used to keep a beat to help musicians while composing music, I have named the mom and baby to match. Meet Metronome, His Baby sister Tempo, and their Mama Rhythm. 😀
The Next few are of my Gothic Unicorns. I didnt have to go hiking to capture these, but it took over three weeks to create the scene or background used for these guys. The very last picture is the one I had in mind since the first week of the contest announcement. It got into my head that it would be really cool to do. I love it but it wasnt too cool to make. I really got involved in the making of that picture so for sure, I will be keeping that one to submit for the contest.
This is my version of “Yin and Yang”
The white and Black Gothic uni’s and their “Pet Fuzzy’s” 😀
Okay…..Here it is, the “BIG IDEA”, The project that really was creativly challenging! Well, its under the next picture. The next is a picture of the “Unicorn In Captivity”. It is part of a series of Tapestry’s made in the 1500’s! There were 7 in the set that told a “story” of a hunt for a unicorn during the Middle ages. My personal favorite is the last tapestry showing a unicorn in captivity. It lies among a lovely flower garden. He is surrounded by a round fence and is chained to a Pomegranate tree. The Unicorn appears to be bleeding but in fact it is the juice that has dripped from the ripe fruit of the tree.
I spent a lot of time researching these tapestry’s and found out some pretty interesting facts that I otherwise never would have geussed. Either way though, I thought it might be really cool to re-create that look using Gothic unicorn 🙂
A photo of the actual 7th Tapestry “The Unicorn in Captivity”
My Re-Creation. Ive added some birds and such and even a few sleeping, and awake “Fuzzy’s” in the background! 😀
October 27, 2011 at 4:26 pm #861048I love flower arranging! I bought all the pieces for that one at Walmart. 🙂
I also love the tapestry pic… but I think I like yin and yang more… There are so many beautiful pics in this competition, I’m not sure how the judges will ever pick!
October 27, 2011 at 4:40 pm #861049Megan01,
Oh no! This is supposed to be fun, and light-hearted. I never intended to stress anyone out or– especially– cost them any money with this. 🙁
If no one else here can help you, you can email the photos to me and I can post them for you.
Hi Jennifer, Thats me though so not your fault. I really love taking pictures but im also a bit of a perfectionist so when I get an idea in my head that seemed good at the time, I push myself to the limit and when things start going wrong, I go bazerck! The money thing….Again, part of that whole “big Idea” thing. I needed the supplies to put together the background for my re-created captured uni pic and I spend way more then I thought it would cost for some floral foam, artificial flowers, moss, glue and wood. I never thought it would cost so much for everything but in the end it all came together so its no big deal. I would have been more upset having gone through all that and then not have been able to post!!!! A HUGE THANK YOU to the following people for their encouragement and support!!
chrisherself, crowfeather, WolfenMachine, kiya1215, Puffpastryofdoom, and ZeldaI made a flikr account and found the “Medium” option which made all this SOOOOOOOOOO much easier! Curse you photobucket!!! :p
October 27, 2011 at 5:50 pm #861056My 2 favourite are “Morning Glory” and “Yin and Yang”!
October 27, 2011 at 6:45 pm #861060WOW Megan, I LOVE how you recreated one of the unicorn tapestries! That is my ALL TIME favorite photo so far. Wow, what a great idea! You have to enter that one!!!!!
October 27, 2011 at 8:04 pm #861064Megan all of your pics are lovely, but I especially like the tapestry photo – I’d never realized before how close the tapestry unicorn and the gothic uni were in pose once you put them at the right angle! All of your efforts definitely show, I’m glad you were able to get your pictures up!
Forever seeking: Blackwatch the raffle Old Warrior, Jennifer Miller's pieces, and GB Baby unis!

So thrilled you like them! Each picture I did, I really tried to express something from them. I took so many pictures! I have 2 flash cards that both hold 200 pictures when the camera is set to take high reolution shots. I filled them both!!!! I must have spent 3 hours the one day just arranging and taking pics which include the forest ones I posted. A lot came out fuzzy cause the camera had a hard time focusing on the unicorns instead of the leaves or water or rocks…. It all came together though.
The Unicorn Tapestry was one I had in mind the whole time. The others I did “in case” I couldnt do it but thats the one I worked too hard on to not keep! Everything you see with the exception of the goth uni, I had to make or arrange in some way. The fence was a real pain! That what took 3 weeks to make so I was so happy when It finally got done. Just thrilled to death their finally posted! I wanted to show everyone at Windstone how much I love my Unicorns!!!
Thats why I put the effort in. If Melody can put forth that much effort to create those amazing sculptures, Then I should put in my effort at creating photos to show case them in 🙂Thanks again! The only real stressful part was getting the pictures from the computer to the forum!!! Anyway, Thank you! *BIG :D* Im really just so totally releaved you like them! And thanks again to all who have helped me post or given me some direction!

October 29, 2011 at 12:42 am #861169The weather finally turned relatively nice after about 2 weeks of grey and rain, so I was able to get outside and take some pics. I might take some more pictures indoors, but these are my 3 for now.

The tapestry recreation is just too precious! I started to look at the pics starting from the end and I recognized it right away. Very clever and very well done.
