I was looking so forlorn that my hubby said that I could (again) have his dragon PYO. This is the second dragon of his that I’ve stolen…is it my fault he takes so long to start? 😆

This poor guy has had it rough. He started out one way, and then I decided that I didn’t like the way he was turning out. I attempted to clean the paint off, but got worried that I was scrubbing too much and he was loosing some detail.

I repainted him, and this is the result! He turned Koi, and I didn’t mean for him to be this way, but I like the result. 😀

(When I showed him to my hubby he said that it looked like ‘a chess set sneezed all over him.’ 🙄

        What do you think?

“Chess set sneezed” *snort* 😆 I think he is very handsome with all his splotches! And again I love his swirly horn decoration!

I like the horn decoration too. What is it? anything special? 😀

I did horn swirls on my last PYO dragon, and people seemed to like them. I love them, so all my dragons will get them now. 😀 I have a trademark!

Chess set sneeze – that fits! 😆
If it were mine, I would try to flesh it out by shading and antiquing some parts. Maybe it’s just the photos, but right now he looks a bit flat.

I’d love to antique, but I seem to, well…really suck at it. When I antique the whole piece takes on a black hue. I can’t seem to wipe it off the top parts while leaving it in the recesses.

And what do you mean by shading? I’d love some tips! Thanks!

Someone else here gave me the advice of adding just a little bit of water to the antiquing. It worked for me, along with a bit of retarder and alot of medium. 😆

So you added water, retarder and medium? What is medium? Thanks! I would love to get antiquing down. 😀

It might be that I’m doing it wrong, but I can never use the staining products :/ I do what it says, but the paint just smears everywhere on the pyo, and if the area is painted a light color, it tints it :X But that’s just me!

                      #679607

I use whatever color paint I want, and have had many successes but, only when I use an extender or retarder. If you wipe too much get yourself a wet cloth (One that isn’t a good one) and use your finger to wipe it off, then use the cloth to wipe your finger. I can’t remember who I got the finger idea from. (No, not that finger! 😛 ) Retarder is the only way I can antique, otherwise I HATE it! 😡
But, I really like that Koi dragon! 😀

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I’ll buy that medium and try yet again. 😀

Antiquing is an art I would love to master.

See if you can’t find an Antiquing medium… Some are better than others…
